  • &wadsworth=1

  • At 1:07, there is a guy with a controller on the right!!!!!

  • is it cold in that room, or am i just seeing things ;)

  • When was this headset released?

  • Women will have to take a degree in this shit to make it work

  • this is such bullshit, its the gyroscope in the headset that is making the movements. Their theory of brain waves and thinking is way OVER simplified! The brain is far too complex to have it send out specific brain signals for thinking different words. That is just aburd, brain waves dont alter like that on simple thoughts. Study a bit of neurology and you will know what I mean.

  • this is crazy! and its only 299!

  • 4 people don't have brains to use with this device.

  • Ey that´s really nice !

In a report on the Games developers Conference San Francisco 2008 was to be seen among other things the Headset. Shit, in approximately 2 years " itself meanwhile; offiziell" nothing changed. One must be allowed to play probably to the Ami military to go over thereby. (oder so)

  • Emotiv's Epoc, only on Playstation 4, i would love to see this combined with the natal, a new star wars or matrix game is begging for this...

  • i wonder if he could play CS with that thing hehe

  • May the Force be with you.

  • tan le is sooo hot!!!! lol and i want this sooooooooooooooooo baddddddd =DD

  • I WANT MY AKIRA GAME NOW.

  • @GunsguruPlatinum You are the smartest person alive. lol

  • this is not a joke it is brain interface technology and its been undergoing lots of research, for the use of the mmo, and productivity "its the new thing" its capable of running on 360 and ps3 since the cpu can hold the information, particilarly this version of the head gear is going to be sold at around 300 dollars each. the next step from reading brainwaves, and translating, is sending feedback through and intercepting vision, pain, emotion, etc. theres been complications due to being to real.

  • i wonder how much he got paid

  • Ok people it is not a joke look it up on the Internet it is called project epoc and there have been breakthroughs in mind wave games look it up there is even for star wars look it up it's called star wars mind control game or something it's kinda dumb and doesn't do much but still it uses brain waves and all of this is real I'm gonna try to get an epoc headset soon

  • 300$

  • for all those non believers, i present...... WIKIPEDIA!!!!!

    en wikipedia org/wiki/Emotiv_Systems

  • That'd be sweet with video goggles

  • The idea for the arrows and to use mind control in humanoid robotics (Honda did copy my idea for Asimo) , or to move the cursor of the mouse in the computer were mine... now watch this... if you use the squared screen with augmented reality in your cell phone or eye glasses... then you will be able to do more... I have even more ideas to implement... but this is for later... you can watch my website with the most complete Humanoid Robot list in the World in the mean time...

  • @luisbeck007 jedi mind has already made a mouse that you can control with your mind, check it out everyone on google!! its really amazing, this can help so many people, you can even write and press as if you are clicking a mouse!!

  • OCZ NIA rip off.. It's better though ;)

  • this is one of the worst videos I have yet seen in terms of production values. These people may have a good headset, but they don't understand sound

  • i hope your fuck your brains if you have it

  • It's a bleeding edge technology so you can't expect it to be complete yet. It may eventually become a state of the art technology and actually be usable for serious gaming/computing after people start adopting it. For now it's just a fun gimmick toy for hackers to play around with.

  • This is awesome.. Possibilities are endless.. Even if it is only 14 different tasks you can probably mod this to hell and make it control your PC.. If I had 500 dollars laying around id defintely buy it..

  • @Dapacc21 isint it $300?

  • @aktechfreak Yes.. I apologize it is only $300.. But still if it can only be used for gaming that limits the posibilities.. I would love to have an API for it or maybe some programming support for it.. Imagine doing work at your desk just by doing face movements??

  • check out the web site, jedimind, i think they have a developers page! there are people just using the basic key commands to control games on the computer.

  • It's $500 for the developer headset, $299 for the consumer headset.

  • This is fairly impressive technology. However i think it's important to remember this(along with anything else out there that is simular) is only the "Basics" to mind technology. Just imagine twenty year's into the research and production of this type of technology. I'd even go as far to say(in the future) the military will end up taking a great interest in this type of technology..who knows maby they already have. We will probably not ever know if they do..but still..the thought is crazy/

  • shut up janny

  • I can hear her clearly (u should clean your ears).

  • CANNOT. HEAR. YOU.

  • @bikutorusan TURN. UP. VOLUME.

  • OH. MY. GOD. Can't believe I didn't think of that before! DOYYY. *eye roll*

  • ok just one question... is there a guy with a gamepad on the right side at 1:07? because that'd be hilarious!

  • Gaha. Looks like someone's left hand holding a controller to me!

  • Yes. You don't walk in the game with your mind. The headset only picks up fourteen different actions including: Push, Pull, Lift, Left, Right, Up, Down, rotate on 6 axis's, and one other that I can't think of now.

  • @OutxOfxLife yeah, totally someone sitting there with a controller making all of that happen on screen . this "technology" is bullshit. they've been trying this for years and telling us it was just around the corner, yet it has always failed.

  • @thenatrix Actually it makes sense if they already have the Luke arm. Newer versions are trying to implement this. Old one used toes and what not.

  • If the camera was of better quality, I might have believed this. It's a joke.

  • @largferg Are you retarded or just stupid? Look around the internet for two seconds before you make moronic comments.

  • @nathantruant

I simply stated my opinion of choosing not to believe this video. It might be legitimate, so be it, however I chose, at the time not to believe it due to the quality of said video.

If you're only here to pick some sort of internet fight which will as we both know lead nowhere, then feel free to Pm me instead of flaming my comment.

I have reason to believe you misinterpreted my statement, I do not believe in the legitimacy of the video, not product.

    Sincerely,

    Larg.

  • @largferg I don't know why I reacted so venomously to your comment. My apologies.

  • @OutxOfxLife It looks like it

  • I think the camera is being controlled by the gamepad. They didn't want him to be using the controller because then when he did the mind stuff you wouldn't be able to tell he wasn't doing it on the controller.

  • @OutxOfxLife stupid piece of shit he doesn't have any gamepad fucking blind people

  • @picktonik Looks like you've got sand in your vagina my friend

  • @TukenNuken first of all i'm not your friend second what does sand in vaginas have to do with this, sorry but it looks like you really are stupid

  • @picktonik It has EVERYTHING to do with this! You see, my friend, the sand in your vagina is making you all bothered and angry! It's a serious danger to your health...and your stupid angry outbursts are pretty annoying as well. So for the good of all people...flush out that sand!

  • @OutxOfxLife looks like the dude has to move the character around with a pad

  • @OutxOfxLife no it is totaly real search Emotiv's Brain Reading Headset at google an you will find a store where you can buy it i have tried it in a electro store it´s already on the market

  • @OutxOfxLife Yeah, I think it is... The technology is not perfected yet, so it's kinda like a bonus. The actions can be done using the headset, but the movement is simplified to the gamepad.

  • I better bay G9 mouse or Razor .

    300$ to much !

  • anybody read the manga ½ouji they something that looks almost like that that makes you fall asleep and then you're in the game. Hopes that one will come true with 99% realism.

  • You are talking about //hack. And if this is real, that will unavoidably happen.

  • @fabbelabben I'm sure .hack isn't the only work of fiction that has talked about this type of technology... Also in .hack people are often shown to be aware of things going on around them offline, indicating that they are not asleep, as livedandletdie said.

  • i want to play combatarms with it!!!!!!!!!

    or uhmm..

i want to see a test in combat arms

  • mark my words this will be overtaken before it has got off the ground,

there are already shortcuts to a better result already avalible,

sorry all you waiting but this will be a horrific flop,

give it 5 years and it will be fool proof and work well but until then its a gimik,

however it will always rely on the brain behind it so who knows if some people will ever be able to use it

  • i see this yeasterday at discovery channel in next world ,,

    This is awesome ,,

    can wait til its realease

  • this is really cook, but she isnt

  • using this, with the vizux iwear av920 would be the ultimate gaming experience....wow

  • Love to get this... But 300 USD is a little much for a controller even if it's a neural interface... Will wait a little longer untill it becomes cheaper. Was concidering the neurosky one but then i saw neurosky only detects a few states of the mind... So the wait continues... Hope it gets cheap soon! Can't wait to build games and applications for this!

  • I'm buying it!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • then you'll be disappointed

  • @coconuts739158426 I have mine on order. Just go to their website and sign up. You can control a media interaction device for your music and such too.

  • i think the headset only have a few functions, one of them is not to move the character. i would guess that the guy on the right is just running the character to spots where you have to lift a rock, or do whatever, with the headset.

  • at 1:09 i saw a guy playing the game. the one wearing the headset wasent even playing he was only modeling the headset. look closely and pause the video at 1:09 and look to the right.

  • Haha, that's right man, but you're not 100% correct.

He isen't moving the character (He could hold the joystick, for some reason he haven't chose to do that..)

But he did played the game with the headset..

  • This is seriously a dream come true

  • i agree with shizowns it looks like hes got a controller lol

  • Because at 1:08 the guy doesn't have a controller moving the character around...

  • CAN'T WAIT! I wish they would hurry, but I guess it's good to get the bugs out.

  • Dang... Looks cool!

  • 299$

  • q tan poquito??

  • Comment removed

  • I want one! But I'm sure it's really expensive! :(

  • $300. Not much considering the tech. If you are gonna get it, I suggest you reserve it on their site, it's free and it comes with good extras if you reserve.

  • what tech? its the same as it was 20 years ago. Honestly there no potental in this tech at the moment becuse its unreliable prone to signal misinterptation or interfearence. And i would allso like to point out theres alot of other companys making these type of interfaces all at much lower cost and with the same proformace.

  • could you name some?

  • OCZ's - nia, NeuroSky - mindset. Nia can be found on Newegg for 124$.

  • Is there any place I can find a comparison of the two devices or could you provide a "feature list" for the Neurosky mindset?

  • Neurosky is much weaker, it's all I will say, look up videos of it, it is dramatically different, and not as solid, as this.

  • Really, what companies? I know of only two companies that are doing this, and one is doing something which only detects very little things, and is much weaker than this and the device costs about $500, and the third company only has a huge device which does this but the device is essentially, a big arcade game and it's for RENT ONLY, for like a thousand something dollars. This is the cheapest one I've seen so far.

  • Would you happen to know when it will probably come out?

  • Last time they spoke about a release date, it got moved up, now it's like Holiday '09 or early '10 You can call them at 1-415-503-3601, haven't called them in a whiel but last time i did the guy told me they didn't have a solid release date, so everything's wobbly right now, but they are releasing development kits so I'd say we're moderately close.

  • what if u get distracted when playing a game? like if ur playing and ur stomach growls or ur girlfriend walks in? what would happen in the game.

  • That's a hot CEO

  • I f you could send information with your mind could you receive? Cool or scary thought, you decide.

  • both

  • Comment removed

  • if only it could work in reverse too. in other words, if your game character is hit, you feel it (but maybe not as powerful in case you die)

  • SEX! think outside the box

  • wow. who knows maybe this will be the controller for the next xbox. I could get used to using the virtual force.

  • "Sorry Dude, didn't mean to kill you, I was just having a seizure"

  • What happens if you have a seizure while you are playing how is it going to interpret the brain waves.

  • more importantly, if you have a seizure, you may kill your own teammate....

  • hahha "not QUITE luke skywalker"

this idea is pure genius. praise to Emotiv. i've already signed up for the inaugural headsets.

  • this is amazing... haha wow

  • this controller probably causes a serious headache

  • when they began decoding a chimp's thoughts, they had him move a joystick that did nothing, and used the related motion signals from the brain to control a cursor. Over time the chimp realised it didn't actually have to move its hand to move the cursor, so it essentially grew an artificial limb. I reckon at first people will have to move their hands, but as they get better at using it, they won't have to move at all.

  • perhaps his arm movement serves to help him visualize the actions better. I can't move my arms, so maybe my visualizing has evolved and doesn't need physical representations to do so. at least i hope this is the reason.

  • so if they can think the movment, they can do it. think The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest......only more different.....yeah...that was the long answer BTW and i really hope it makes more since than it did while i was typing it

  • the short answer is yes, though it may be a bit harder for them to get use to. the guy in vid uses his hands because its the easiest way to duplicate lifting something, and since the EPOC is just an EEG ,electroencephalography(sp?)(what they hook injured people up to at hospitals) it reads brain waves associated with the action and allows basic physical movements to happened in the virtual world

  • I also would like to ask a question

Some1 who can't move his/her arms (for exapmle paralyzed) so is he/she able to use this?

  • Yes.

  • Yes its based on electronic impulses, people using it only move their hands as its easier to imagine to push the object by physically pushing your hands

  • There is no reason in moving there hands... Thinking about physically moving the object has no relation to what it requires to use this, it makes it look like u just have to "think about moving it" for it to move which isnt really tru. What it can see is more like a "mood" of sorts which it links to your keyboard along with facial musle bio potentials and alpha/beta waves. It cant understand complex thought or see what nurons are firing in your brain, your skull blures blures it too much.

  • yea. you dont even need to move your body or talk or make sound all you have to do is think about it

  • Where in Australia is she from again? I remember reading it.

  • I have a question, could a handicapped person move robotic legs or a robotic body by using this invention??

  • Yes, they could. But, other devices are being developed for that purpose. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be used, I'm just saying that it would be up to the user to construct and program everything themselves. It would be cheaper, though, to make your own rather thn buy one of those suits.

  • No it is NOT fake!

  • does he moves in the game whit the brain to

  • They're developing it for disabled people to turn on lights, tv's etc.

  • Wrong device.

  • "What is the potential?" I doubt it is going to stop at video games.

  • yeah, i would have guessed like 1000 dollars for the first retail version of this, but im totally buying one.

hey any1 here ever read the pendragon series of books? remember the rubit city or w/e one with the pyramids with ppl in a fantasy brain projection and nobody ever left. and the whol planet just died out, because nobody ever wanted to leave the fantasies?

i hope this doesnt end like that.

  • lol if the stuff about cell phone waves causing brain cancer is true then I'll stay as far away from this helmet as possible, like u said it people : it's experimental.

  • well it is not a cellphone :p

  • like iAdamJonesi said, its not a cell phone. The reason why ppls say that u can get cancer from cell phone is because of the signals that comes from the cell phone, but those signals are so little that I cant see why they say it can cause cancer :S i dont think that helmet will cause cancer. :P

  • Cell phones cannot cause cancer. People say that cancer can be caused be electro-magnetics, but it is just a magnetic field caused by electricity. So, if cell phones caused cancer wouldn't anything with magnetic fields do the same. BTW, this includes wires with electricity, TV's, lights, normal phones, and any headset/headphone. Just because someone added radiation to the end of it doesn't make it harmful.

  • And btw, dont worry, that helmet dont send any signals out, it will only pick up the brain activity. :)

  • this "detects" brain waves it doesn't send out massive amounts waves like a phone

  • It sends out waves because it is an electronic device. The phones release less energy than the computer right by you does. A small lesson: When electricity is pushed through a wire, a magnetic field is created, as well as heat. If this magnetic field was powerful enough to affect human beings, the EMF would destroy the phones, as Electromagnetic pulses are being used to kill electronic devices. A person can stand in front or around these devices, and no harm will come to them.

  • Shut up! genius.

  • I was only stating the information that would clear this all up. Judging by your aggressive reply, you are a person who is part of this anti-cellphone mob.

  • Nop, im not.

  • Good. I'm just tired of all of these lies being passed around to end cell-phone use.

  • I think it is impossible. i mean, cell-phones are in almost everyone's life, being really useful. No matter what, people wont ever stop using them. So, dont worry, no one is gonna take your cell-phone away from you.

  • I don't like cell-phones, and I don't carry one or want one. I actually despise them. I just don't like it how the US has become a fear based nation, where if something won't be made illegal, the people against it will scare everyone else into not using/doing it. Anyone who can think for themselves would look into the truth of anything like this.

  • i think it will be cool to have, even if its still kind of experimental, im planning on buyin one. 300 actually isnt that bad for something so cool

and the EmoKey that lets you integrate the helmet technology into to apps already on ur PC. like i could program certain brainwaves to press certain keystrokes and i could play....say....Crysis, or, maybe portal, something like that. with the EPOC.

  • Yeah,$300 is pretty damn good for something like this. I was expecting a SUPER outrageous price.

  • the president .... she is hot !!!!

  • She is FINE!!

    and smart.

  • perfect as lie detector TOO...

  • lol

  • Sounds cheap, so all you need ot think is

"Argh I want to win this"

and your brain will do the work for you.

  • lol

  • mmmh imagine what the CIA is going to do with this.subniminal messages and thoughs scanning ,no no thank you not for me.

I am a diehard gamer but this is too much.

  • well as with any technology the possibility for abuse is real.. i doubt the CIA or any intel organization would need to read the brainwaves of gamers. although i using this technology for a Lie detector would be very useful in cracking the difficult criminal cases.

  • america must be pretty fucked up if u have to worry about your own government so much that your afraid to embrace new technology

  • Oh it is, remember the invoked the patriot act basically we no longer have freedom of speech. In fact I'll direct them to this thread by posting an 100% non serious "I'm going to bomb the house"

meh they'll find it eventually lol

BOMB IT WITH SAUSAGES AND LUBRICATING OIL!

  • Wow, never letting an opportunity to bash America slip through your fingers. Find something better to do.

  • Americas government is shit. If you think otherwise your a dumb ass.

  • u r paranoid

  • that really sounds amazing. i would love to just be able to play the game using thoughts and emotions. this maybe a new "amazing" thing for games.

  • Luddites are awfully irritating.

  • and i like how everyone's freaking out about and saying that we're going to get to addicted and become virtual zombie people or whatever. it just shows how afraid of new ideas some people are. it's a pretty counter-progressive state of mind, people. you should all just accept new ideas that improve the quality of life of people.

  • this is good. its a very primitive first attempt at this sort of thing but hey, the first televisions were crap compared to the televisions we have now. just give this technology 50 years or so and see what kind of things come from it.

  • THE FUTURE IS NOW! Just wait till it gets a little more future...

  • LOL using mouse or keyboard is more dangerous than standing still because a little wrist movements by using mouse are keyboard are not dangerous if you play games 1h per day but if you play games longer your wrists will start to hurt and soon the pain will only spread to other parts of arm.

  • I'm quite pleased with this idea. I don't see it supplanting regular controls but rather having the emotional feedback be an extra game element. Also it's a great way to finally get headtracking in a majority of games.

  • Ultra Bad, This is just the first step, You wait 10 years from know. We will be shooting people in a game that is in our head, we won't need screens anymore, or controllers.

I warn people to be very carefull and don't get addicked.

  • Yeh, it would be horrible if people got addicked.

  • Would we refer to these addicked people as addicks?

  • This thing only takes readings from your brain; it's comparable to typing on a keyboard, except it takes information from the source, or some such. It's advanced, but not THAT advanced. Doubt we'll get anything that interferes directly with our heads yet.

Worst that could happen is that people'd be moving just about as much as they would be if they're watching TV, so much less movement which may cause health problems that I'm not aware of. Then again, finger-movement isn't much movement anyway.

  • KaneKnowsLittle. Not to disrupt your fantasy, but electroencephalography has been performed in hospitals since the 1930s. It does to your brain what a radio does to a radio tower: absolutely nothing.

Electroencephalography detects electrical impulses, it does not create them. Similarly, this electroencephalography-based headset is nothing but a detector. Don't worry about it.

If you really want to go Ludd-crazy on something, do it on nanotechnology. You'll get into better arguments.

  • To Searain. I was talking about when they invent something like that, But imports the 5 senses into your brain. What i said was "they will be able to get you playing games in your head soon" I wasn't talking about this device, This device is only the start of what they will be able to bring on from it.

    What and see.

  • Well they probably WILL make that, but that isn't what this IS. If they do make that it will be a separate device and it will be created and work whether people have bought an Emotiv Epoc or not

  • It recieves only, it does not DO anything with your brain. basicly all this lets you do is push a button with your brain, and even IF something else is coming out in the future that lets you play games IN your brain, that's not what this is and it will never be that.

  • You need to watch the 80's movie "Brain Storm" :)

  • omg im buying as soon as there takein orders from ireland im getting that thing

  • Hooray for lazy people!

Espacially since people who aren't lazy WILL turn lazy!

This might be a turning point. I'm sure there'd be hardcore OMG FUTURE WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO discussions about this. I'm going to duck right now, to avoid the crossfire.
