I don't think that Nicolosi's therapy is applicable to everyone. It works for some and not for others, but based on my view of what homosexuality is, I don't see how it could really help that many people.
The reason that you felt desperate enough to want to seek ex-gay therapy is that your Christian upbringing convinced you to feel ashamed in the first place. Therefore, the problem is clearly Christianity, not homosexuality.

I have no doubt the current therapies have a low success rate. I would guess something like the success rates for groups like AA, Rehabs etc. I would suppose these 'ex-gay' rehabs are disadvantaged (so far) for being something relatively new and I'd say still 'experimental' stages.

None of those things influence sexual attractions. A straight person can grow up in the same type of environment and experience the same things a gay person does without having any effect on their orientation. The main environment considered to be of influence on orientation according to scientist & biologists would be the hormonal uterine environment of the fetus.

I have no doubt the current therapies have a low success rate. I would guess something like the success rates for groups like AA, Rehabs etc. I would suppose these 'ex-gay' rehabs are disadvantaged (so far) for being something relatively new and I'd say still 'experimental' stages.
Personally, I would not suppose their angle of 'feeling unmanly' (then seeking men) is the problem. It just doesn't sound right to me at all and I was surprised to hear that was the angle for you.

And they all claim to speak the truth, and their interpretation is the right one. This can only lead to one conclusion: what you pick out of the bible reflects your personality. A hater will hate, see "the Gods hate fags" sign. A friendly person will be kind and will not preach about hell.

@JREAMdesign- that would have nothing to do with who they are sexually attracted to. A gay person may not be sexually active. But that won't alter their attractions anymore than a straight person who isn't sexually active. So this "lifestyle" term make no sense.

@JREAMdesign- what is the "gay lifestyle" exactly? All the gay people I know do the same things as straights. They all have their own personalities, work the same jobs, have their families & friends, have their own relationships. Those who aren't in relationships are no more promiscuous than straight people I know, in some cases less. Do you consider lifestyle to be someone's sex life? Is their lifestyle who they sleep with, what gender their partner is?

None of those things influence sexual attractions. A straight person can grow up in the same type of environment and experience the same things a gay person does without having any effect on their orientation. The main environment considered to be of influence on orientation according to scientist & biologists would be the hormonal uterine environment of the fetus.

There is no "middle gound" on equality. Separate is NOT equal. To keep insisting that all is well when an entire class of citizens is designated to "the back of the bus" is demaning injustice.
If you want to be treated like gay citzizens are treated, simply REFUSE the rights you have, but stop demanding OTHERS make needless sacrifices just to please your bigoted minds. CHOOSE unfairness for yourself, but don't demand it for others!

@4SmallGov- Faith is a requirement for religions because it is the only way in which they can survive. There are no proof for any world religions that demand belief in a deity. They, like Christianity, all have their own ancient texts in which the religion is focused. It is simply a cultural phenomenon.
