  • IMHO teaching a person with dyslexia who has reading issues cannot be done phonically. Lexics are 3D thinkers and picture thinkers its not about the sounds I do not have severe reading issues however; spelling is my big issue. Lexics have problems with words they cannot picture in their mind e.g. was, saw, there, would, should, could, not, the ect.

  • Yes, tactile input is always good. But how does this help a student to learn phonics? This should be explained. (Or is the whole idea to reinforce Whole Words? In which case, please consider the other side: No More Sight Words, on YouTube.)

  • When we reach these words are mind stops and searches for the pictures. Lexics with reading issues actually flip these words in their mind looking for a picture associated with the words...myself I misspell words like saw as was almost every time. However; buzz saw, miter saw and circular saw are not an issue

  • phonics don't always work. what about the look and sound alike such as Vane and Vain or Desert or Dessert? I have alot trouble with these words becuas I'm a phonic speller. Oh, not to mention the odd rules english has.

  • Great idea to use clay; good for building fine motor skills too in preparation for writing!
