Triops(also known as tadpole shrimp) can be bought at Hobby Lobby or any other hobby stores as little eggs stored in packets. They are living fossils, unchanged since the Triassic Period. They're are five different species: Triops australiensis, Triops cancriformis, Triops granarius, Triops longicaudatus, Triops newberryi. They occur in temporary ponds that dry up in dry seasons. Their eggs can survive many years dried up, and make interesting pets that resemble horseshoe crabs.

they are called triops and also filtered water does work my first triops I used filtered water that I had the eggs came in a pellet full of corn starch powder and the eggs, (not enough to make the water corn starch), and i hatched them in FILTERED water, the aqausaur people rip triops (dinosaur shimp) out of their natural habbitat (unlike the triassic triops people) and force them to brees then harvest the eggs and sell them online and in stores like toys, also distilled and filtered water work.

Triops will eat anythig that is bio mass- plants, chicken, anything you have in you're fridge... exept hot dogs, that kills them.

do you use beach sand if u want them to lay eggs or do you need it at all

@tacodelmar3393 For triops to lay eggs you need sand or pebbles so they can hide their eggs in sand. :D p.s. if you want the eggs to hatch you need to dry the sand first. Do your research to make the condishioner (detrus).

when i got same kit no triops eggs even hatched the only thing that hatched were brine shrimp! and get this, i didn't notice them until they were adults then, they started having babies meaning, i did not feed them for over 4 WEEKS!!! and they still survived!!!!!!!!!!!

they die in about a month or 2 and they are really calked triops. you can buy them on ebay. be carful when you clean the tank too, they can easilly die and there really vicious. they sometimes kill eack other and eat each other.

their eggs dry and can stay in egg form for a really long time, like 100 years mabey more. when you put them in water they start to grow.
