Like how Dr. Kagan, the blubbery man on the left who probably has never 'served', says that the extremists would consider us meddling in the struggles within Islam whether we were there or not. Fat friend, when have we not been there?
On Sunday, Oct 18, 2009, the AP posted an article, "Iraq approves oil deal with BP-lead consortium," which points out how British Petroleum and China's CNPC will now control 75% of Iraq's Oil at the Rumaila oil field near Basra. BP gets 38% and CNPC gets 37% and Iraq's State oil marketing company gets a whopping 25%! American troops fought in Iraq, so Iraq can afford to give away 75% of the profits for a prized oil field to Britain and China. Seems like a slap in the face to the U.S. to me!
wars are never great. when people die it is always tragic.. you are disconnected from reality. war is hell and it always has been and always will be.. it serves no purpose to kill man. especially civilians who have nothing to do with their governments actions.. like the 1 million dead iraqis.. do you feel for those families affects by our bombs? do you weep for them?
We need to desperately end this war mess, but unfortunately the American people are too stupid to realize it. And it was all sold on lies and deception. Obama mentioned during the campaign that he would increase our Afghanistan presence, which is exactly opposite of what we should do. And folks voted him into office..shame.
Dr. Paul is correct. We went to war with Afghanistan under the assumption the Teleban was thought to be harboring Bin Ladin. Under Obama I have absolutely no idea what the goals are or what we are looking to achieve. In some ways we owe it to the troops who sacrificed themselves for this mess to win it. BUT, If the goal isn't to win, Get Out. We are going to blow up our economy over this, if we haven't already. Obama promised he would end these wars within 6 months after elected. Obama you Lie!!
Incorrect. Go back and listen to Obama in the debates. He said that he would increase our activity in Afgan. Only Ron Paul, Kunchinch and Ralph Nader said that they would pull out.
There is absolutely no way of 'winning' these wars. Either in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Iraq. All sane people knew this from the very beginning.
It's a crapshoot, just like Vietnam. You cannot invade sovereign countries in the hopes of eliminating 'terrorism' (an ideology) while creating new terrorists every other minute.
I so dearly hope that Dr. Paul has it in him to try again in 2012. And I hope that we can overcome the evil leaders of the GOP as exemplified by the likes of Lindsey Graham. Dr. Paul has gotten so much air time since the election it will be much harder for them to keep stuffed inside a box next time around.
Hmmm, lets see, 15 of 19 9-11 hijackers are from Saudi, a couple more from Egypt, but NONE from Iraq or Afghanistan. Yet thousands of American GIs, tens of thousands of Iraqis and Afghanis get to DIE!. Who then has really benefited from all this death..obviously Israel. More Zionist extortion and blackmail within the corrupt remnants American Government.
Hmm.. Let see. bin Laden disclaimed credit for 9/11/2001 in his first two post 9/11 communications (before "fat bin Laden" appeared"). More importantly, he didn't claim credit on the day itself. Since the purpose of terrorism is to threaten a repeat incident, does this not strike you as strange?
Ask yourself: Why would bin Laden blow up a bunch of NYC buildings and not take credit for it?
Now ask yourself: Why would the CIA or MOSSAD do the same?
Mr kagan, I'm tired of that old tired argument that it's too sophisticated, too complicated for us mere citizens to understand. And, since you're lieing about that, I don't beleive anything else you say either.
We no longer hear from the Liberals or the Democrats about being against the war. They sold out after Obama was voted in.
Ron Paul has been one of the few voices in the government who consistently argued against our military involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. But you won't find ANY of the bleeding heart libs supporting him on this issue, anymore than the traitor Republicans who have abandoned the principles of their party. Ron Paul Is a man for all seasons. Wish we had more like him
Always distrust the guy who tells you that things are too complicated for you to understand. The term islamofascism was coined by the neocons and it has little fundament, other than their will to create an enemy out of thin air. The potential that these so called islamic fundamentalists have to do harm to the average citizen in the United States is infinitesimal. Dr Kagan can use all those books to which he refers to make himself a nice disinfo chimney fire.
It's a matter of money. Ron Paul is right on track.
It's a PIPELINE problem. American and NATO forces are PROTECTING oil pipelines. America is spending excessive USD for the purposes of OIL. The trillionaires want WAR, war creates profits for the billionaires, trillionaires of the world and for the corporations of america.

When it came to Iraq
Ron Paul says "they did not start with us"
When it comes to Afgananstan he says "we dont know the enemy"
all because he hates america, it ways, and all the great wars which started this country and made us who we are!
(He found a few mistakes and builds on them)

I agree with Mr. Paul. However, I think we've already got our tit in a ringer that is difficult to remove.
