oh so very 1984ish. I thought the old system was fine. from what I understand wiretaps could be done without a warrant in an emergency but then the warrant needed to be approved after the fact to justify the suspicion. Part of me says, "if you´re not doing anything illegal what are you afraid of?" and part of me says, "fuck you". Hmmm.....

This will not help bush fight terror, he can wiretap terrorists anyway, all he has to do is get a warrant, hell even the old version of fisa allows him to wiretap someone for three full days before getting a warrant, to demand an expansion in fisa would either mean that the president intends to abuse this fisa expansion or he is too incompetent to get a warrant in three days. Either explanation doesn't justify such an expansion in unchecked powers.
