Saw Will Oldham support the Frames at a gig in Seaworld or some such thing in Tramore years ago. All the idiots talked through Will Oldham's set, oblivious to who he is, and of course sang New Partner word for word when the Frames later played it.
@hyalinejim That's tragic. Something similar happened when I saw The Swell Season. Black Francis opened for them, but hardly anyone seemed to care. When he played Where Is My Mind? these teenagers who were sitting by me said "Isn't this that song from the Pixies?" I think they understood who it was by the time both him and the Swell Season played it in the encore later on (which was awesome). But it irritated me.
Great stuff. Glen and the guys did this number for their last song in Washington once and Glen told the fans to turn around and go home while singing this song. He also told them to not give them any applause for clapping would mark the end of the gig. Can't think of a better ending.
