just a general simple question. do trucks in USA have a top speed limiter? thanks

It's not a mandated regulation but trucks are manufactured with a "governor" in place that limits RPMs to avoid engine failure. However a clever mechanic can bypass the governor but it greatly limits the life of the engine. However there's no limit to how fast you can go within the limitations of the governor if your willing to pay the speeding tickets issued. BUT the caveat is you lose your licenses after a certain number of speeding violations.

@seasonedtoker not as such, but the engine computer can be programmed to limit speed, I have mine set to 68 MPH since I usually only drive the midwest. if I ran in the west I'd be dangerously slow at 68 MPH a real road hazard.

Nice to see there's still a Show Quality truck in the US with a factory wheelbase,,, the majority of the stretched chassis trucks look rediculous,,, and thats STUPID,, not the American Chopper use of the word.

@TARBABY71 I have to agree that stretching a cabover out too long can look odd. When the toy that is mounted to the dash was measured in scale, the factory wheelbase matched within an inch, so we got lucky there.
