okay i have a question. all the water thats around chernobyl that evaporates into the clouds will move into other areas, is this a serious issue? is the radiated water that comes from chernobyl move into other areas by clouds?
@bboychi1 yes, since the disaster, all Europe has been receiving a little quantity of radiactivity every day, and it will continue for 20 years i guess but i'm not sure
@Kaabiipowaah too keep the place intact, there is still a lot of radiation in there. That is why they built the shell around the reactor to keep more radiation from leaking out. There will probably still be radiation here in 50 years.
Nuclear energy is still the way to go and I'd live by a reactor in a minute. Fuck Greenpeace and all the sissy ass envirolosers that would drive a Prius!
@MyYakBiteBak they prevented a explosion i think, when a reactor blows up you can see its true power, it burns for years upon years, and then the radiation it leaves behind lasts around 1000 years
Wow, I never see that badly damaged reactor in Unit 4. I dont know about that when i was younger in 1986 untill recenty I did watched the news about Japan nuclear plant hit by earthquake and tumrusi and i did look up on Chernobyl and learned about it. It was very interesting to see what happened in 1986.

The worst bit is that now this and Fukoshima have both overheated now everyone is against nuclear power , even though those reactors were from the 50's. It is almost impossible to do this with a modern NPP and it is better than burning fossil fuels.

At the end of the day, humanity ought to watch videos (such as this) when debating or considering nuclear energy, rather newer and greener alternatives...The costs far out-weigh the benifits.
@Mulder0007 Nuclear energy has caused less deaths that conventional means such as coal has and the environmental impact is much much lower. The benefits far outweigh the costs.
man, thanks for sharing this, glad you got a shot of the inside of the reactor #4 after 20 years since the video was taken, was wondering what it looks like on the inside
If you think about this the is really really sad not just because of all the decay and deformations but all the billions and billions of what ever kind of currancy they use to fix the reactors i dont think we should use nuclear power untill we have a good understanding of how it works and how to use it PROPERLY so this never EVER happens
@987micim This won't ever happen again and shouldn't have happened in the first place. No one but the Russians use graphite (Extremely Flammable) in their designs. Gen 3 reactors are very safe.
@MangledMaggie sort of, japan had a slight meltdown Chernobyl when up in explosion. They were able to prevent much of the damage the Fukushima Daiichi plant, Chernobyl well you see what they had to do in images. Chernobyl was disaster, Japan was a near disaster but a lesson to us all that no matter how far we have gotten it can happen again. Nuclear is relitivly safe clean energy source, when handled responsibly without a single person cutting corners. Cutting corners sadly is human nature.
@RoMayDrako yea but over all more radiation has leaked out from the japan disaster over time, Chernobly was all at once. Food in Seattle has tested positive for radiation all the way from japan. I don't think theyll ever be another explosion.....if we can help it anyways. But there will def be more nuclear disasters.
@987micim we do have a very good understanding of how it works, do you really think there would be so many nuclear power plants in the world if the scientists didn't know what they were doing. what happened here was a mistake that should have never happened and people have learned from it

true that when 'shit hits the fan' in a nuclear plant there's a whole shitstorm about to go down, but if well maintained and looked after, nuclear power is a safe and clean souce of energy.
@extondude Nuclear proponents repeatedly claim that radiation exposure in the vicinity of coal-fired power plants is 100 times greater than for nuclear power plants of equivalent size. This story has been disproved since 1977. The UN Commission UNSCEAR has determined that in consideration of the entire fuel cycle, the global collective dose of population per megawatt of electrical energy from nuclear power is 375 times higher than for electricity from coal. 1977 report, page 27
"We're living in a state of constant catastrophe that is touching us more and more." Got any facts or evidence to back that up, greenpeace? No, you don't. Nuclear power is cleaner than fossil fuels.
@MrJivePirate Yes, but it is more dangerous to human health because of the risks of radiation. The main reactor fuels, Uranium 235 and Graphite (Forgot the isotope) are VERY VERY VERY dangerous if humans are exposed. If a disaster on even a small scale occurred, there could be major consequences.
chernobyl-the story freaks me out what could have happned what if something lives their? what happned to the children born after the disaster its scary....
@Byrnsey251 well if you trust that metal and concrete case so much let me tell you this within the next 10 years it has a probability of 70% of collapsing with a probability of 90% + in the next 20 years....
one day i want to go to Prypjat... why ?? to take photos. this place has a certain atmosphere to it i just have to capture one day... but before that i have to learn more about radiation... i dont wanna end up dead or with cancer just because i was too foolish
@tiagandremo dude are u a fuckin idiot it was in 1986 and even if i did go over to help which im planning to when i can afford it it wouldnt make fuck all diffrent because even if there is an earthquake everyone in europe is fucked so go learn shit before you comment.
@Byrnsey251 even TODAY people are working there with every day clothes, not just in the 80's! and just to let you know, the sarcophagus which they built there has a 70% probability of collapsing in the next 10 years, 90% + in the next 20, they have launched a project to make a new cover out of steel and concrete that will cover the whole power station, but thousands of tones of soil will have to be moved and tunnes built and rails so the cover can move into place...so i have learnt shit...
whoever goes in to Reactor 4 to get us video while effectively sacrificing themselves, so we can see this has a special place in heaven if you believe in the afterlife
man i wish there could be some suit like uhh SEVA suit really existing and stalkers would be there and all the artifacts, anomalies, mutants, the rostok with bar there and all that kind of shit...thumbs up if you agree....
@PatoWachaca Not sure, but Diatlov and the other chef who ordered this test got 10 years each, but they were realesed after five years due to mental problems.. But, If u look at the whole story its realy thouse who builded are the ones who should blame .. they build it very quick and poorly, didnt think about the safety at all,,

"We're living in a state of constant catastrophe that is touching us more and more." Got any facts or evidence to back that up, greenpeace? No, you don't. Nuclear power is cleaner than fossil fuels.
MrJivePirate 5 months ago
@MrJivePirate Yes, but it is more dangerous to human health because of the risks of radiation. The main reactor fuels, Uranium 235 and Graphite (Forgot the isotope) are VERY VERY VERY dangerous if humans are exposed. If a disaster on even a small scale occurred, there could be major consequences.
bestshowontheweb 4 months ago
the beeping you hear in the video is the tell tale sign that the reactor is still producing lethal amounts.even with the suits.

EphraimRodrigez 5 months ago
@tiagandremo dude are u a fuckin idiot it was in 1986 and even if i did go over to help which im planning to when i can afford it it wouldnt make fuck all diffrent because even if there is an earthquake everyone in europe is fucked so go learn shit before you comment.
Byrnsey251 5 months ago
@Byrnsey251 even TODAY people are working there with every day clothes, not just in the 80's! and just to let you know, the sarcophagus which they built there has a 70% probability of collapsing in the next 10 years, 90% + in the next 20, they have launched a project to make a new cover out of steel and concrete that will cover the whole power station, but thousands of tones of soil will have to be moved and tunnes built and rails so the cover can move into place...so i have learnt shit...

Did the people that built the reactor are in prison or something?or it was just a accident ?
PatoWachaca 6 months ago
@PatoWachaca Not sure, but Diatlov and the other chef who ordered this test got 10 years each, but they were realesed after five years due to mental problems.. But, If u look at the whole story its realy thouse who builded are the ones who should blame .. they build it very quick and poorly, didnt think about the safety at all,,
