Many of the characters and ideas of this movie came from the second and third books of the Oz series by L. Frank Baum. The Oz books, which were written between 1900 and 1920 were awesome, and it's a shame that so few people today have read them.

Shame you disabled ratings, this would definitely get five stars. I love the film, and the song. It's much darker than the Judy Garland version of Oz, but that isn't a bad thing. The books were darker too.

(And I completely agree with what you said about Dorothy! I'm not so sure about her wanting to leave again either.)

I dunno why I took it off, but I changed it. :D The books were dark, yes, but they were also very happy at times. Which probably made it even darker when the dark stuff happened.

And yeah, I always felt that way as a kid - luckily she does finally move to OZ in the last book. :D

Omg I just dusted off my old vhs of Return to Oz and watched it tonight. This was like my all time fav movie when i was little. Always brings back memories. Big Breaking Benjamin fan too. Awesome vid.

Thanks =) lol, yeah I obviously have the DVD but I have it on VHS with Labyrinth and Neverending Story - watched the tape all the time as a kid, and still prefer it over the DVD ;)
