i must admit its abit slow, but the prob there is matching computer units with real units, lets take the acceleration due to gravity as 10 m/s/s (m/s^2) but one computer unit is equal to 1 km say, you then have the problem of it moving 10/1000 = 1/100 = 1% of the objects length as accleration, which is visullay way to slow, reverse taht and its too fast, mathcing these things up is a real problem, the Havok matches them up automatically as you specifiy a scale, good idea.
Sorry if I didn't say that thing fall at 9.81 meters per second squared, or that on the moon they fall 1.6 m/s squared. And this is off topic, but nice system specs.
Yeah. He's saying that's what bugs him about game physics, and it's true. Many games don't follow the proper laws of motion and gravity in that sense, and objects appear to have unusually low terminal velocities.
could also be expressed as 9.8 m/s/s its true form (i am doing my GCSE's) still not sure how the square gets there, but i know theres a squared form :)
Mad physics engine, but it's in slow-mo too. I don't know what the ball objects are or those block things, but i don't know why this video was related/linked to crysis; mabye it has the sme engine...
Those videos are shots taken during engine development; there is not editing of any kind and they are real time. The video capture software cut the frame to 640 x 480 excluding the fps information.
I am sorry you do not believe me, not much I can do about that.
You are welcome to come to the website and request for an evaluation or a runtime demonstration.
You know it's funny, I was at a recruitment fair a month or two ago and I was pulled in by a Torque demo. I remember saying "wow, Newton could NEVER handle that"
You had a lot of fun blowing those bricks apart :D

Julio Jerez is the guy who made Newton GD.

open up "binaries" or "bin" there it often lies demos, examples and so on..

The red and white reminds me of a spine. EW.

Physics are good. Just, the only thing bugs me about game physics are things don't speed up when they fall, they just fall at the same rate.

9.8m/s^2
Go back to middle school .-.

I'm actually in 8th grade, so I'm still in it.

unless a force is applied yes, so if you hit it downwards you give it more energy, cmon

Yeah. I need to brush up on my physics.

np, have a good one

what are the computer specs? ram, processor, video card..?
how can i do something like this?
that was AWESOME! : )

I think the slo-mo is because of the large objects.

Oh, well I didn't know. I do believe you.
By the way sorry for my bad grammar, I awlays forget to read what I typed before I post.
I just though that the physics time scale was a bit slower than real world physics.
AquaGeneral 4 years ago
You cannot really give an idea of the frame rate of something with physics if the physics timescale is not realistic.
Giving the CPU more time to do the physics calculations.
Though it is still impressive.

Those are available to some developers.
Thank you for your concern and for the comment.

Oh, my comment was cut short.
The point was that the Torque demo was almost exactly what you have there. Nice one.
klumaster 4 years ago
I was obviously having an off day there. Havok demo, not Torque demo. Is there a way to delete these comments?
