I have followed him since 1977 and he continues to be the most admired musician in the world for me.

MArk i an amazing talent. Over the yeas he's doned many roles -- teacher, guitarist, frontman, and now he's blossoming as a sonwriter. Do check out his latest album "Kill to get crimson". It's worth every penny and more.

I like this live folk version better than the studio "folk musette" version on the KILL TO GET CRIMSON record.

I think it could have been just fantastic with just MK on the guitar and John McCusker on violin. Just the two of them, without the accordion. But it's a waltz, and MK surely had the accordion in mind.

Anyway, great song, and great evocative, humourous lyrics.

Time moves so fast and life is just insanely brief. A few years takes Mark Knopfler from a young genius to an old man and each of us still breathing along with him. Glory fades and all we are left is the shared experience of humanity in a strange beautiful world. The only choice that remains for any of us is humility-no matter who we used to be. This is what makes Mark Knopfler such a great man.
