Great generator and motor combo! If it weighs 130 lbs, it most likely has a cast iron block on the Briggs! Great engine! Sadly, today, Asian engines have taken over. Spark cover could be for radio interference!
@MrPrairieHawk could be aluminum. im not sure though. the generator part itself must weigh 90 pounds alone, i have a volt master one just like this but it is a 1989 version. 12 years ago it broke the connecting rod and i fixed it a few weeks ago. doesnt have the handle back on it because i havent got to that yet but i cant pick it up by myself.
hi i am from india and we manufacture the clones of these even today by a company called as Greaves Cotton India Ltd. u can check out the website if interested.
Is this engine an 4 stroke ? the sound seems to suggest it as a 4 stroke
dam its brand new, how much you paid for it? i receive a homelite from my father in law and i haven't try it still. give me some advises for my first try at the end of the week.
is there any that i can get a electric generator that can run on hemp oil or biodiesel Did you know? - The original Diesel engine, as build by Rudolph Diesel in 1893, was designed to run on vegetable oil, and in particular on hemp seed oil. cuz this plant hemp is amazing 50k uses and been around 5k years also rick simpson run from the cure is proof this works under medical plz help me wana get of the grid ASAP with a clean fuel
briggs will give you a huge offer for that 10-20yrs you cant replace history! they will need original, you have something that should be put up for 10 more years & then offer it to briggs history collection! dont use that. buy something else please &if thats the original paint box it & dont touch it for 10yrs .
you should exercise it on occasions! it keeps all the seals good, and lets you enjoy it a little! but when your done turn off the fuel and let the engine run the carberator dry. and as long as you do that and remeber to drain the fuel tank it will remain in that condition! i like it its real nice! i have a 1963 Zenith Winco 3500w also in great shape but not quite as nice! it appears the owners always drained the fuel tank and let the carb run dry when they put it away! keep the carb cleaner
Yes, I have run it a couple times and do just what you say. Last thing I want to do is put a wrench on any of those bolts to take the carb apart as its still perfect from the factory. A wrench would chip the paint away.
it looks great! i have a couple engines that have never seen a wrench. its neet to find one like that! you got a lucky find with that. im going to try to get my winco going soon. it needs the points cleaned because its got no spark.
Let me say this. It's been said before. They just don't make 'em like they used to.
Newer machines have way better tech, but near zero durability. The old ones are hard to break, and that is a fact (if you treat them well, true for all machines). I remember older Briggs motors, much more durable than the new ones.
EMI - Doug, that cover over the spark plug (and shield wire back into the engine) would work to minimize *spark plug* noise as heard on a radio ... many of those smaller engines used a _straight_ wire to boot and created a pulses-per-revolution that can be heard for aways over even commercial FM broadcast radios ... out little John Deere model 110 lawn and carden tractor used to put out quite a bit of noise until I added a device in series with the spark plug to knock that noise down!
Very nice collector's item there for sure. The 6HP engine is a bit of an overkill but that's far better than a undersize 4HP like they would use today. It's a real shame that DESSA bought out Pincor some time ago only to totally destroy them. Now parts are a pain to find but your's in MINT condition shouldn't need any parts for a long time. If noise bothers you B&S has threaded Low-Tone mufflers that will take off some of the loud bark. By the way later model Pincor were junky.
Great find! That thing will come in handy. I think Briggs&Stratton made their best engines in the 60's, I have several that have also had minimal service, but some of mine have high hours and are still fine!

that cup over the spark plug is to stop the spark plug from interfering with radio frequencys. its just a sheild.

@drh4683 the outlets on the right are 15 amp 220 volt outlets not 20 amp 120 or 220. a 20 amp 220 or 120 has one vert. pin

Those were very popular on farms in rural Canada. Great genset! The John Deeres with cast iron Tecumseh were a tad better, but way more money!

Those "20" amp sockets, are actually 230v sockets. 20 amp 115v sockets have 1 vertical, and one horizontal slot. Two horizontal is 230v
