Freeze at 1:33 and 1:50 -- it's got troubles, I'll say. You can see how quickly and how clearly the shuttle pieces raining down even at this vantage miles away.

Freeze at 1:57 -- from this vantage point miles away, that bump / bend in the vapor trail is clearly visible. Some analysts propose that a strong high-altitude jet stream jolted o-rings loose in the shuttle at that point.

By the way, Challenger didn't explode, it disintegrated due to the enormous aerodynamic forces.
