  • how fast is it???

  • @TheNightmare217 Never clocked it. I'd guess somewhere around 50mph on a 3 cell, 35mph on a 2 cell.

  • @dhoyt7141 DANG well nice video

  • @TheNightmare217 thanks man! hope to have something new up here soon!

  • Those unlocked differentials will kill you in the dirt

  • @ricerhater9 Not bad in the dirt, just when trying to climb rocks!

  • take the bumper off it will give you better climbing angle

  • 0:53 haha, a 4wd sct stuck on a path with leaves on it...

    Good vid tho

  • Got done testing it out, glued up that lower arm up with super glue and I pushed it to it's limit put three packs through this thing, 1 2200mah 3s that it came with, two 5000mah 3s lipos, nothing broke accept when I powerslide into a car tire at full speed and I broke a turnbuckle. They look like the same size the slash uses, they don't sell that part I'll pick one up from the hobby shop sometime. But this thing is VERY sturdy. Also the motor never got hot

  • @somedudeandacomp

Has anybody used the Trooper body on a 4x4 slash?will it fit?

    Thanks in advance!

  • @grmrdrifter It will fit they are almost the do break they shatter, they are pretty tough though if your running something pretty well stock, but if you have an 1100 watt motor I'de stick with the slash body, because any first dead on hit it's gonna shatter like glass. I shattered the whole front off mine after hitting a tree doing maybe 25mph head on. If the prices are the same I'de get the slash body.

  • @somedudeandacomp

thats the matter...the prices arent the same and the Slash body is much more expensive!

Thanks a lot for your answer!

  • ok I'm done hahah lol review through comments, all in all yes I like it, I do not regret my purchase, even if the arms ARE breakable, they are cheap and take 5-10 minutes to fix each one.

  • Also I moved my shocks in one hole for the lower arm and from the 2nd row from the top in the outermost hole to get the maximum travel for the arms. Also gets it a little softer.

  • Also the body shape of the slash is so close I can stack the trooper body on it very closely, however the posts do not line up.

  • BTW hobbykings 100 amp esc they have for 35 dollars is awesome, I've got the the thing running a 2 cell lipo in a model half the weight of this acme trooper and it flies. It's pulling 120 amps off my 2 cell with no thermal shutdowns, thing is awesome, more torque than traction, thing is so fun!

I'm a high power guy if you couldn't tell.

  • Have you replaced any parts on this things yet? 35 amps isn't too much but it's brushless. Looks tough in pics I bought one from USA warehouse I hope it's good, I know parts are cheap but they have to ship from hong kong... really far and quite the wait.

  • @somedudeandacomp Yea, I broke a suspension arm after running into a light post. I would recommend getting a replacement set (or two). Search HobbyKing for "A2016T-32769" (without the quotes) and it will come right up.

Also, one of the ball bearings died on pretty much each wheel (A2016T-32630) but its still drivable with them shot. Also ordered two sets of the dog bone linkages (A2016T-30299) because they get a little bent and mess up the steering a tad.

  • @somedudeandacomp I'm also replacing the steering servo with a BMS one (BMS-621MG) and I ordered the metal gear replacement set to go along with it (BMS-20608).

As far as just being 35amps, I have no plans on replacing or upgrading the system in any way. It has tons of power.

I would highly recommend getting a 2 cell 5000mah hardcase pack, running at 3 cells for that long might be a bit much for it, and it comes with a 3 cell when you want to go mad!

  • @dhoyt7141 I've got 3s 5000mah lying all around from my 6s emaxx, so I plan on using them.

  • @somedudeandacomp ok, just be conscious about so much extra power.

are they hardcase? i bought a softcase 3cell 5000mah pack and it didn't fit. I also wouldn't put any softcase packs in after seeing how much they get bumped around!

  • @dhoyt7141 No they are all soft, they do fine in my emaxx but they are snug fit, if they bounce around I can just throw some foam in the mounting area, might solve it right?

    I'll watch the temps.

Yeah I've got a tamiya baja champ running on 3s lol it's crazy fast and breakable.

I bought this cause I was thinking about souping up a 2wd slash but figured this would get me better performance, maybe they will sell cv joints in the future for it instead of dogbones.

  • @somedudeandacomp ya i guess that should be alright. let me know how they do though, i'm curious!

Temps shouldn't be anything to worry about i don't think.

as for cv joints, that would be pretty sweet, but i wouldn't expect to see anything like that for a long time, if ever to be honest. at least not for this truck.

  • @dhoyt7141 I've done some crazy stuff with my emax and they are soft and had no problems, but the emaxx has more of a cradle

  • @somedudeandacomp sounds good, let me know how the cradle in this compares to your other one and your thoughts on running soft packs in it when you get the chance!

  • @dhoyt7141 I will, Thanks for posting a video, I should get it in a week after whenever it shipS! I really beat the crap out of my cars so well see how it holds up. I'll prob have something broke the first time out, especially if I let my friend drive it.

  • @dhoyt7141 Got it, 5000mah 3s 30/40c lipo fits it's the flight max, it's kind of heavy for the car though.

Took it out broke it first run, was on wet pavement, did a lot of drifting, but I have a rock in the corner of my yard, kind on nicked it and whole front arm snapped, have those parts ordered when I ordered the car like you said. But they are behind since they come from hong kong only.

    Derek

  • @somedudeandacomp ya i haven't tried my (turnigy) 3S 5000mAh pack but i wouldn't guess its a bit heavy.

bummer on the break but at least the parts will get to you sooner than if you hadn't ordered them already.

i broke another arm two days ago and haven't had the time to fix it yet.

what did you think of the car?

  • @dhoyt7141 Well I'de like to get it offroad, I didn't go offroad, just on road. I don't think it compares too well with the slash when it comes to suspension travel, even with different shocks or moving them to different holes, you don't get the travel because the chassy has a little wing that holes the arms from going down too far, which is probably because the dogbones would slip out if you put the suspension out any farther. the slash has a risen chassis give it more ground clearance in middl

  • @somedudeandacomp The torque is not a lot, but it's enough to have fun on a low traction surface, I like it and I will definitely play with it and enjoy it and anyone getting into rc... this is your cheap ticket to a four wheel drive vehicle, just stock up on parts. Also body looks a lot better in person than on hobbyking's picture, just take that stupid mustang sticker off haha.

  • But the slash 4wd is a lot of money compared to this, I like it, parts are cheap, it's not a basher but it's a decent offroad car, the arms are fairly easy to replace, make sure u get e-clips and find that dogbone! I think what would make this better is if it had cv joints, you would get more suspension travel to compete with the slash and it would have a lower center of gravity because the chassis isn't risen up like the slash is.

  • @somedudeandacomp for sure, i just can't justify the high price for the slash and the replacement parts, especially not on my budget!

but ya, i'd like to bash around the slash for a bit, especially test out the waterproofing capabilities!

  • @dhoyt7141 It's waterproof... as long as you replace the bearings after all that fun, those are not even though they are rubber shielded, I ended up just throwing cheap metal shielded bearings in and salvaging any rubber shielded ones I could. Rubber shielded are good for dirt, but still rust with water.

  • Slash has a lot of body roll with full suspension travel but rides like a cadilac stock lol. I'de like to see if I can find some cv joints and custom fit them, bearings are oversized in the wheel bearings, look like they would last well, they are the same size as the 3906-3908 emaxx wheel bearings, exact same.

Like the complication of the middle diff between the front and rear but after using a direct drive 4wd and this being my first "middle diff" 4wd car I don't know what to think

  • @dhoyt7141 I'll probably thicken diff oil inside the middle diff to mess around with it, if I can get to it relatively easy, doesn't look too bad. The 5000mah battery is what I was using when I broke it, I assume it might not of broke if I would have had a pack less than half the weight that I do now. The weight puts more stress on everything, even in collisions.

  • @somedudeandacomp I don't own a 4wd slash btw but I own a 2wd. and it's lowered a bit using shock travel limiters and i still get lots of body roll. But the suspension is set so soft it's so cool going offroad where it just soaks up all the bumps like nothing, looks like it's hovering and wheels just move up and down all over the place.

  • I love the rescues!

  • @ronhogwarts haha yea! the truck does pretty well on its own, but every once in a while it gets too close to a cliff/drop off, gets stuck on a large rock, or just flips over and needs some rescuing!

    lots of fun though!

  • wat ires r those?

  • @MCgangsta11 not sure what "ires" means, but i assume "tires"? They are the stock tires that came with the Trooper, replacements are available from HobbyKing, SKU: A2016T-33131 but note you will need the tire foam (SKU: A2016T-30377) and wheel (SKU: A2016T-33130)

You can enter those SKUs into the HobbyKing search box and they should come up.

    Hope this helps!
