So cool. This is how my grandpa grew avacados. I just started mine yesterday. I could only get a hold of 1 seed from my parents :( But I hope it will sprout :P
The pit doesn't need to be in bright light...you can put it in water with the tooth pics and keep it in a dark place and it will still root.
Easiest way to do it....get a few pits...wrap them with wet paper towel, seal in a ziplock bag and place under the sink for a month (they like dark and heat) check them and you will see roots and a sprout....no joke....I'v already got 4 of these going that way!
When the root is two or three inches long and the stem is at least an inch or two you will be ready to plant. If it doesn't sprout within 2 to 3 months, discard the original avocado pit and begin another. As not all pits will grow we recommend starting several pits at one time so you get at least one or more plants.
(I got this off the net) but thats what I did! HTH
Thank Heavens. I'm so glad you put this on. Me and my children are trying to sprout an avacado seed...but it's been taking sooooo long. I realize though now, I put it in with tip down:-( I will go turn it over now, and hope it still grows.
You must live somewhere warm or tropical, because I hear that in my climate they will never bear fruit, only become trees that are pleasant to look at.
@alohachristine lol don't feel too bad:) I did the same thing and just turned mine around the correct way hehehe, poor thing probably feels like a pin cushion! My bad;)
I heard playing heavy metal to your plant will be like putting the plants on steroids and it will grow seven times faster, but will die sooner.
