Doesn't sound like you're very comfortable with the strumming pattern. How long have you been playing guitar?

@BrokenBard Not very long. I'm learning right handed (i'm actually left handed) so Strumming has proven to be difficult.

@adamanski70 Ah. Keep it up.
I'd suggest just simply strumming over and over until the feel is natural, then start to introduce the chords and rhythms.
@adamanski70 My daughter is left handed but I taught her to play right handed! Lots easier finding guitars and you can play anyones guitar too! Good choice!
