  • Even dynamic objects? That is interesting.

  • If anyone is interested in some much cheaper examples of prototypes for the early parts of the design process together with some explanation you can find more on this site: akosta.dk/en/category/prototyping/ :)

  • my school has 1

  • Low volume production,SLA/SLS prototypes,CNC prototypes,metal prototypes,mock up,rapid prototypes,rapid prototyping from china. WWW dot VOWIN dot CN

  • I think/i was told that roughly a 23x23x23 model filling the avilable model space capacity of the machine would be aorund 100 pounds? Has anyone got any rule of thumb prices? say if you had a box capacity of 23x23x23 and you used 50% of that. what would it cost ?

  • mmmm.. I wonder if you could print chocolate...

  • this is gonna take over cnc pretty soon...

  • I want to make a custom Warhammer army with one of these.

  • @celshader could be, but the precision of this printer is not enough, you have to check out the models of objet they design more precise printers.

  • I just purchased on for fastrapidprototyping com. it is an amazing machine with unlimited potential. we at fastrapidprototyping com offer same day or next day turn around depending on size of models. available in 7 colors plus being made out of ABS plus plastic it is very rugged and durable. you can even paint or chrome plate these parts for a variety of finishes. i suggest anyone to get one of these machince

  • My college has a rapid prototype machine that is computer programmed.

  • Cool video. Also, our channel is dedicated to educating individuals on all of the additive technologies as well. If you'd like to click AdditiveTechnologies to the left you can watch these machines and hear a narrator explain everything as well.

  • fake

  • ive seen this in the university of Clausthal (Ger), it was very cool to see how it works :D

We built little Towers, but the only problem was that we needed very much time :D

    i love rapid prototyping^^

  • American Precision Prototyping offers the highest quality SLA & SLS parts, fastest turn times, and best pricing in the industy.

  • So could I print... for example... a hot girl I found on the internet?

  • I vant I vantttt

  • Comment removed

  • can u tell me how much did that machine costs?

  • Terminator anyone?

  • wow, now I can prototype my own dream girl ;)

  • this is america s future. i sense that something impossible is gonna come from this technology.

  • Thanks for featuring my website in your video!

    Bradley

    Print To 3D

  • Dildos galore blhahahahaahhaha

  • Why not. The Adult industry is a Billion dollar business.

  • so then i can soon have a machine that beams me up any time of food.

  • Not yet !

  • This is the future!

  • @stivnico Maybe you should check out Jaques Fresco's ideas. thevenusprojectdotcom. Read his book, it's free on PDF: Designing the Future.

  • It's not a printer! It's called a stereolithography apparatus. Pretty cool, they use them in F1 to prototype aerodynamics.

  • Yup these printers are awsome! I took a computer animation class last year, and they actualy brought one to print out our characters! It's amaizing to watch it print out something!

  • trye

  • thats true

  • it prints gears??? wow....... that's crazy

  • mass production would probably always be cheaper but this would likely be usefull for repair/recycling and customization .. maybe a crossover period where few common mass produced components are combined with more locally produced custom parts..

small scale manufacture like reprap might be desirable for social factor of independance even if it's not as efficient as central/elite controlled mass production ?

  • Look up "rep rap". Its not at all clear that mass production will *ALWAYS* be cheaper. As soon as you can make a 3D printer in a 3D printer, the cost of them basically goes to near 0.

  • @websnarf reprap is what i had in mind when i mention 'social-factor'. I hope we do see the same progress from early microcomputer kits to todays pc's.. but there's a LONG way to go though before we can print microprocessors or a bicycle as light/efficient as the carbon-fibre racers.. and trust it to not snap while riding it breaking your neck :)

maybe in a post oil world life will be simpler & we'll make do with less..

  • I work for a rocket company and they have many machines that do this. They actually make some tools and use them, because in some areas where work is done in liquid tanks, they can make tools wrenches and hammers that float instead of sinking.

  • This is cool shit.

But my most favorite part was the Prototype trailer when it finished. :x

  • don't be wowed by this.. now there are companies that build better printers that dont' need dissolving the support material or scraping...

  • Yes, There have been articles about this hardware in magazines for a long time.

  • This shit is whack! Science Fiction only a few years ago! If you were told about this technology even a decade ago, would you have believed it?

  • In 150 years. This technology will be the bees knees.

  • More like in 15 years.

  • @gucker07 There are actually 3D printers already

    figureprints uses them

  • @RazielKain

yes, i know. but they're still too expensive for the 'average guy'. and they can't make everything yet. but we're getting there, i agree.

  • @gucker07 it will be much less then u think.. in 15 years we will be building citys in the ocean..

you just say that becase its money speaking.. but who told you that in 5 years the monetary system isn't gone , and we are living by a much better system ?

  • @gucker07 OMG ur right, i saw it on tv, they said that evryone would have a 3d printer in 15 yeas !

  • snap

  • wow thats amazing

  • i don know wat the heck is this exactly ,or how it works !

i only know i want one

  • @hamzeeco if your willing to pay 45,000 dollars then cool :P

  • hey I have a shapeways account. (first website they showed). For them you just export a model out of your favorite 3d program as an .obj, maybe collida.

  • as a .stl file not .obj.stl stands for stereolithrography

  • 0_o

  • holy shit thats amazing! i didnt even know about this stuff!

  • thats cool! just like iron man!

  • LOL, looks like a vending machine.

  • I've known of this for a while, but I didn't know just how advanced it's gotten already!

  • dfadfag

  • eek! we're becoming more robotic every day! :) cool design, great idea. how long does this take? i.e. the David like statue head? time may be considered before the death of manufacturing.. if it takes 6 hours for the sole printer to make the replica when a factory can produce the a similiar result in 2, the factory may still stand ground.. that is until they can modify the printing speed. wow this is great futurama life

    :)

  • the first one made is like 15 years old

  • 3d printers are a great technology... the chain is my favorite :]

  • that is crazy

  • 3D printers FTW!

  • i can't wait until more home-centric models come out... then i'd get one!

  • Neat!

  • Awesome. I want one.

  • Yes, but how much do the "ink" cartridges cost?

  • It depends on the printer and the material used. Most are a form of plastic that is melted at the tip and rehardens shortly after. It is a special plastic, whose "cartridges" cost a couple hundred dollars each. Metal prototype machines, use a sintering process w/powdered metal. The machines are much more expensive, but the material can be less expensive.

  • 10k

  • While the investment in materials might be high, consider the cost in creating moulds or dies in the alternative. This machine represents the future of manufacturing, I think. In that it saves a hell of a lot of money in the above mentioned costs with old methods in prototyping.

  • haha that be funny

  • our school purchased a nice one this year

  • we have a rapid prototyping machine at our school!

  • yeah, but only on special projects

we do that acid stuff, to make ball bearings

  • is it a special class

  • kinda

i go to an engineering high school, high technology high school, so the courses are built in

  • cool i want one at my school
