Hey everyone I was hoping someone could help me out with a question please?
I am very interested in buying one of these keyboards, however, whilst I know that it has DAW functionality with Cubase, does it also work with Avid Pro Tools? And can you use it as a MIDI controller for any kind of MIDI recording with computer, such as if I was writing a score in Sibelius?
Thanks in advance, any help would be much appreciated :)
s70 can move octaves, single notes, and everything in between then you can save them as a performance. The transpose is easily accessible from the front which makes it good for live use. One press and you've changed tone. Some other keyboards the transpose is in an undermenu.
Can I record an audio file as playing songs from CD or USB flash driver, then play as backing track while playing? Can I do that on the motif xs also. Thank you!

best 'versatile' stage piano on the market......... i do so much with this machine.
im scared for the next version....... not 'totally' in love with S6..... but.... with drums bass and strings........ its amazing........ the synth in this is stellar once you tweak away...... ive written more songs and gotten more ideas from this machine than any other ive owned..... i bought Kurz PC4LE to go with it........ I sent it back........ it was a confusing OS...... yamaha did ALL.... better than k
@paulallen34 the S6 sampling has quite a lot of high mid frequencies which makes it more tinny, however this makes it seem easy to "fit" into the mix in a band setup.
I have had my S90XS for 4 weeks now and my Natural Grand S6 sound is nothing like this sound. It is woofy, woody and dull, especially around the middle of the keyboard with a horrible harmonic ringing on Db1,D1 and D#1. Are these factory presets or have you edited them.
glad to help. If your looking for just the sounds from a motif then the S90XS is a good choice as it has all of the motif sounds It is cheaper , lighter and setup more for live use.
Thanks for the review. I know this may be a common question but what;s the difference between this and the es series. Ive read coments saying the es is 'better'
The XS has the two different keyboard lengths still keeping the weighted keys and uses the sounds from the newer Motif XS plus the new S6 piano sampling. The S90ES uses the Motif ES sounds. The XS is a bit more live setup with quick access buttons for things like split, layer and tap tempo. I can't remember if the ES has streamng capabilites directly from USB the XS does have streaming from USB... Hope that helps...
Very helpful. Thank you.
peace,
Tim

you can record audio and play it back via usb and play along. I have done this myself while doing live demos of the s70

brass instruments are really difficult to emulate but the s70 does it as good as any other.

I did not like that piano S6. I had a S90Es and have an S90 (both piano S700) and are better in my opinion, heavy, expressive.

I play on S80 an Motif ES Rack and S90XS look like good way to improve. I really think about sealing some hardware and buying that new one ;-)

But can you edit in the same way that in the computer? I doubt between the S90xs and the Roland RD-700 GX. Thanks.

@ajuj12 I've explained the main differences in another answer.... The speakers used in the test are Genelec 8020A studio montors.
