  • I love Rush

  • Encore! Come on Rush..what happened to music like this?

  • Wow! Haven't heard this song in years! Totally falling in love with it again...I'll be singing this song the rest of my day after work.

  • Never used to get this song...at least on an emotional level, but something today...something moves me almost to tears listening to this song. Truly beautiful and a masterpiece from one of the greatest bands alive.

  • @TheLifeEnigma Thank you.

  • they should have left the sexuality part out of the song.

  • @downslope4 Fuck you.

  • Geddy for President

  • Rush...my Hero's!

  • pleaseee come back to mexico!

  • I love this song. It makes me think of those who strive towards a better world, but who are not known and die without recognition. Neal Peart is my favourite lyricist and if everyone listened to his words, the world would be a better place.

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx I wouldn't say underrated, but envied or prejudiced by its style

  • Neil Peart = Ace drummer and superb lyricist = )

  • I'd go to any party which involved Geddy Lee, what a legend :) Long live RUSH!!!

  • This is by far my favorite Rush music video- I love the use of masks and lighting!

  • is the best

  • I just discovered this song, I listened to some other rush songs and holy shit, what a song.

  • Rush's most "commercial" album was Moving Pictures. They've always been a musician's band more than they ever were a casual listener's band. Still, over 30 years with the same lineup should count for a great deal. And Genesis, another seminal prog-rock band, IS in the RRHoF. Maybe they're having a hard time finding a band capable of covering one of their songs well enough to honor them at the ceremony?

  • @n5iln The common belief is that they play in so many different styles that the RRHoF can't figure out what style to class them in.

  • 5 people are nobody's hero...

  • the best rush´s video!!

  • rush isn't underrated... every musician knows they are most likely the 3 greatest musicians ever assembled. also the only reason they are not mainstream is because their music is too complicated and therefore hard to dance to.

  • @BitchBeTrollinHard amen to that...watch the documetary on them.....la villa strangiato....out of everyones reach

  • @BitchBeTrollinHard Bitch, please, you should see the 30,000 people in the morning singing "vital signs" in the shower

  • this was actually released on Anthem/Atlantic. Rush's last studio album for Mercury/Polygram was "Hold Your Fire"

  • Awesome!

  • I like Neil with the goatee!

  • sweet..sweet back to good 1994 old days ....and I was 18 ;)

  • soooo underrated song GREAT SONG

  • Such a gorgeous, underrated song.

  • noticed the astronaut... Sally Ride?

  • lands a crippled airplane....

  • They said Sullenberger was a hero (HERO caption) for landing his plane in the Hudson and saving everyone on board....

  • Rush is underrated, that's why its our job to love em even more.

  • Amazing song, I was 13 when it came out and it was one of my most favorite songs growing up, it is too bad the song seems under-rated, casual music fans generally have never heard of it.

  • i like so much this song!!

  • neil doesnt really look like tom hanks in this video

  • This is definitely one of their best videos!

  • Awesome!

  • Just to watch these three is just 'wahnsinn'!! Wish I had three sets of eyes to absorb everything they play at the highest optical level!!

  • By far my favourite Rush song! Second only to 2112 (Full album, the only way it can be listened to)

  • Oh did I mention that the Beatles and Elvis could only dream of being 1/10 as talented as these masterminds? Yea it's true! Show me Elvis and Beatles lyrics that can touch these deep and powerful songs they've written. Hey Rock and Roll hall of fame, I think Britney Spears and Justin Beiber are almost ready for eligibility, go sign them up to your club LOSERS.

  • @barnaby36 In all fairness, the Beatles lyrically were fantastic towards the end of thier career. If you ignore the Pop crazed dribble at the begining of the 60's. But to compare rush to the beatles is like trying to compare Da Vinci to Albert Einstien. Both were fantastic at what they each did.

  • @unrealgoblin2112 But you say? Da Vinci as to Albert? I remain confused? I could offer argument as to 1 +1 = 2? There are those among us who offer this is no longer true? To compare current car builders in the US as to Dodge would be shall we say futile argument? Chevrolet has the Volt, Ford has lots of chrome. Know where I go with this, do you not?

  • @barnaby36 Actually, Britney Spears and Justin Bieber won't be eligible for the HoF until 2023 and 2034, respectively. Though I personally hope they never get in, the HoF is enough of a joke without them.

  • @dudemanbearpig Who is Justin?

  • @superunt43 If you don't know who Justin Bieber is, consider yourself lucky.

  • I understand how some people call these guys "fags" and "pussies" and what have you. But These guys have done so much for me personally, and I don't care what anybody on this earth thinks, they are by far superior to ANY other act that has ever graced this planet in terms of musical, lyrical, and over all talent. And to top it off, they're excellent human beings, all 3 of them. Good people, highly educated and they hail from the Country that I now reside in, the great white north of Canada.

  • @barnaby36

    Who calls them that?

  • @barnaby36 I've never heard anybody refer to Rush as any of those, but I'd imagine the ignorant, jingoistic and militant people that seem to thrive in this world would do that. Rush is really the only band I know of that looks at issues with a critical eye, and they come off as scholarly and humble like every famous person SHOULD be.

  • 3 people are nobody's hero.

  • 3 people couldn't find their hero.

  • Neil - Writes beautiful and meaningful lyrics, one of the best drummers on Earth

Alex - Delivers their riffs, and brings the soul to the band. Plays awesome solos

Geddy - Deliver's Neil's messages, and lays down the bassline perfectly

    Fuck, I love Rush.

  • @Slazors Perfect just perfect!

  • thats the beauty of pearts music.......its what u take from it!!!!

  • Havn't heard this song in a while. What a another great song!

  • These guys are my heroes, listening to that gave me shivers

  • One of the most emotional songs I know from the best band in the world...

  • For you gramps

  • Anyone else having chills listening to this masterpiece?

  • @EnCoReHu GOOD. I'm not the only one.

  • @EnCoReHu I dedicated this song to my gay budy...

  • @djukela94 I think everyone on this damn planet should listen to this song over and over again, until they get the message and realize how stupid we can be.

  • @EnCoReHu How stupid we ARE.

  • @EnCoReHu How stupid we ARE.

  • @EnCoReHu How stupid we ARE.

  • @EnCoReHu How stupid we ARE.

  • Not the glamor boy.......Bieber....

  • Rush is so underrated!

They're not even in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame..and they've been around for more than 30 years....I read somewhere that they haven't been inducted because they avoid mainstream......but then again that's one of the reasons I love them...

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx They are too good for the hall of fame

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx You sound just like my best friend. He says the same thing all the time. I agree, they need to be nominated.

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx There too good! Lady gaga is in the Rock and Roll hall of fame! It would be a disgrace to Rush for them to be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame!

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx hence the song "spirit of the radio"....fuck the critics....5 concerts and every album, tape, cd, and dvd theyve made...i got....rush kicks ass

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx

    **

RUSH has their own hall of fame - in the hearts of all their fans - which knows no limits !

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx I heard their next album is called "Fuck the hall of fame"

I may be wrong... but it should be.

    Dennis

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx I heard Geddy on a radio interview saying that they aren't old enough yet to be in the Hall of fame.

  • @easternbushytail When? 20 years ago? Because Rush has been around for 38 years, and it only has to be 25 years since the debut album to become eligible.

Not that it matters, screw the hall of fame.

  • @21stCenturyBoxProduc Hall of what? We all, or at least those among us who bother to think know the best band ever to exist, mute point actually. Best band in history is Canadian? Well........

  • @xOkaYxFreaKx They are 3rd by record sale... 1. The Beatles 2. Rolling Stones 3. Rush..... 24 golden records 14 platinum (3 multiplatinum)

  • I thought it this song was about years of homosexuals hiding the truth for years, until it came out. Don't know guessing lol.

  • If any song gets these guys into the hall, its this.

  • @Howfar9 I don't think they will be inducted in my lifetime.Sad but true. They are not flamboyount enough.

  • Neil Peart is such a talented musician. RUSH will be my favorite band forever. Every song is pure gold.

  • My favorite Rush song. They have many good ones but this one just has a great message and fantastic instrumentation.

  • This is an awesome song, only introduced to me recently. I lost a friend a few weeks ago, and this song is for him. He is a forgotten hero. Not a sports star, not a movie star, just a regular guy, doing things to make the world a better place without thinking of how much money he can make or what status he can get in society. Let's all be Nobody's Heroes........RIP Christian Carbone.....

  • Isn't this song about homosexuality? (not trolling) p.s. this is one of the best Rush songs ever

  • @CobainStJohns I believe that it is about real people who are "true" heroes---One example was a gay friend of Neil's who taught him tolerance. The next example was about the family of a girl in Canada who was murdered. Her family lived with their loss with a grace that the band viewed as heroic.

  • @CobainStJohns Not homosexuality, but how actual genuine heroes are overlooked when famous people are considered "heroes" simply for being famous.

  • @CobainStJohns It'a about heros but the first paragraph talk about homosexuality

  • dude you will be fine, this is just the beginning of challenges and successes. if you don't have to bury someone today.... it is a good day. .

  • Thanks Rush! I am no longer homofobic

  • Im a child!!! AHH!!!

  • thumbs up if you can't see the red in the like bar

  • Im 18 and I have loved rush since their moving pictures album was brought out

  • rap sucks, rush for life!

  • I hate to sound repetitive or cliche but I have to add on! I'm 15 and I've been a fan of Rush since I was about 11 or 12. I recently went to go see them in concert when they came to my town back in April and it was one of the best experiences of my life and I'm forever a fan of Rush! :-)

  • @xFadexToxNeonx3 oh and adding on, Rush helped me get inspired to learn how to play bass guitar! Saving up for it still though :-)

  • Respond to this video... i think im an addict... to RUSH!!!!!! i just recently heard this song when i was listening to their counterparts album. soooo amazing. nvr heard it b4 then. but props 2 all fellow my child -age listeners out there! im 12 and been listening since i was sperm in my dads... u kno. :)

  • Rush fan since birth! I listened to this stuff all my life!

  • fucking tune

  • im 17 and love rush... i think rap and shit like lady gaga and justin beiber sucks

  • I became a Rush fan when I was still a kid: I was in Junior High I think. They're awesome!

  • im 12 and have been a rush fan since i was 7!

  • Rush é o melhor...arrebenta

  • This is my favourite song by Rush <3

  • lets track down that 1 idiot and kill him

  • For me this is 1 of the best rush-songs ever! Specially the lyrics make my heart cry.

So give me 1 bullett for the heartless one.....

  • I am not a girl, but I am 16 and Rush has been my favorite band since I was about 11. This has to be one of my top ten favorite songs by Rush and Counterparts is such a great album. I wish more music today had powerful lyrics and talented musicians

  • Odds are if you hate "rap crap" it's because either your friends or your parents hate it. The fact of the matter is that this is good music, rap is good music, and anything is good music until we all agree that it sucks. (rebecca black)

  • @kahy94 rap is often racist and sexist. It's main purpose usually is to get money from stupid teenagers. It is very easy music with simple lyrics. More like it isn't music.

  • @SgtZaqq You obviously haven't listened to most rap then. Do some research before you say something like that. I encourage you to listen to Atmosphere or Cannibus. Both are great rappers who's songs aren't racist, sexist or for making money. Black Sheep are a good 80s rap group as well.

  • @FortuitousTruths I said "rap is often..." Everything have exceptions. I mean modern mainstream rap.

  • Here, Neil peart looks like my 6th grade math and science teacher lol

  • Such a beautiful song from an excellent album!

  • i'm a fifteen year old girl and admittedly, i hated Rush in the beginning. but now, they're one of my favorite bands and Alex is one of my idols when it comes to guitar playing.

  • I'm not sure what kind of ego boost you get when you boast about how young you are listening to Rush or how gloating about it makes you better than another. Fact of the matter is I sit here thinking isn't ones ego and being better than others quite the opposite of many messages Rush songs portray? I'm a Rush fan because I love their music, and can relate to the lyrics messages. You don't need to know how old I was when I started to listen to them or how old I am now because it doesn't matter.

  • @IMoonDancer it is just to let people know that their still is hope that 1 day all will listen to good music

  • @lunkheroofnuts exactly

  • I got into Rush when I was 19, a late bloomer, but since then have NOT seen any other band. Also, much to the chagrin of the Ayn Randians, this is so polar opposite to their belief. Great video.

  • great song and album

  • somebody accidentally clicked the dislike button... shame on him...

  • READ ABOUT THIS THAT CLINTON USED IT FOR HIS ELECTION:

  • Neil Peart writes such good lyrics. Here it really is obvious how he based the lyrics on actual events in his life

  • AWESOME very meaningful song, touches my heart whenever i hear it.

  • I honestly dont' get how the hell these guys aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. I mean Neil Diamond?! Are you kidding me?!

  • @darkpoet25 Hey, Neil Diamond deserves it, but Rush should be in the Hall of Fame no doubt.

  • @imunchbutts Not saying Neil doesn't derserve to be there, just shocked that both Rush and Kiss still aren't in there. A lot of people knock both those bands, but their impact on music shouldn't go unnoticed.

  • How the fuck is there a dislike on this video?

  • @MusicRulesEverything The guy pressed the wrong button, thats all.

  • Dude I am seeing Rush tonight I cant wait

  • @metallicaboy123 - Me too Scott haha

  • Very awesome song! I love Rush. When MN died, this song certainly came to my mind. It's also awesome that they kind of use an orchestra with this song.

  • These Lyrics are amazing.. They mean something, other than s** and drugs from now... RUSH is simply, without doubt, the greatest Band on this Planet. correction; in the entire Universe. They are heros ;]

  • who the f**k would dislike this song? Hitler? I mean really.. George bush must of been on you tube looking up taco recipes..

  • God aka(Geddy) has self esteem issues! if you arent a retard and get the joke thumbs up!

  • One of my favorite rush songs! Can anyone tell me what the chorus means?

  • @drum394 The chorus describes examples of heroes and then criticizes what modern society upholds as heroic (actors, sports players). It's saying that being a hero has become more about glory and fame than what a person actually does. The specific people talked about are examples of the sort of everyday heroes that get overlooked or dismissed as "nobody special". In essence, it's about what "hero" should mean to us versus what "hero" currently means to us. At least that's what I take from it.

  • @doubledeviant That sounds right. :)

  • @doubledeviant Good summary. Nailed it.

  • @doubledeviant To me, this song says that having meaning to life doesn't relate to fame and fortune. It didn't seem so much to me that the examples of "ordinary people" were representing true heroes as it did that they were socially insignificant, but still left lasting impacts on the narrator. The song says that people are more important than what they do in life because they are always more important than they think to someone else.

  • @doubledeviant I think you captured the essence of it, neil is such an intriguing writer, man he is deep and complex

  • @doubledeviant

nicely put. That is exactly how I heard it. But everyone hears music differently. And in the end if a song provokes an emotion or feeling in someone then it was a successful song.

  • I think this is one of Rush's best songs. Counterparts is a great album.

  • powerful song

  • zajebisty kawalek !

  • I want the Hall of Fame..one guy and one guy only from Rollingstone has made it his crusade to keep them out..I just watched beyond a Lighted Stage again and Billy Corgan makes reference to him...Its been so unfair for so long

  • This is what's awesome about this band. They don't need to write songs about drugs, sex and rock&roll. They write music about real world issues.

  • For those of you who understand where I'm coming from know that we don't give a damn about the R&R hall of fame..The band is so much more than that. When people ask me if I'm Christian, Jewish, Protestant I just tell them I listen to Rush....It's not a band It's a way of life and I'm a better person for it.............

  • I wore out several 8 tracks of 2112 when I was a Senior in high school---That was in 1978 - They are still my favorite band after 33 years and I havn't missed but 1 concert of thiers in Kansas City since 78. Love these guys Thier unique style and philosophy is what's made and kept them popular with all ages. I hope the next album isn't thier last---They just keep getting better!

  • GREEK RUSH FANS WANT RUSH IN GREECE...PLEASE

  • When they hit Cleveland,I am driving from Vt..They deserved to be there long ago..Influence is the key and as I have watched Petty,Abba and omg Bon Jovi walk in just a shame..The greatest drummer and bassist and maybe the greatest lead guitar will go...I am driving and Rollingstone is giving in:)

  • @Tod661 I love what Alex said, in a nutshell they don't want to be in there if they're not wanted. you can see the video on youtube.

  • i used to sneak into my brothers room when i was about 7 yrs old and put on the Test for Echo album and i would play with my toys and listen to the whole album til my brother got home froom school :)

  • This song's a tad condescending being sung by Rock Stars. If a janitor sings it to me, it would have more meaning because he knows what it feels like to clean up after people's mess and not be appreciated for it, but at least Rush try to break bread with the common man. I guess it's something. I'll call Alex, Geddy and Neil and they can come and shampoo my rug and then play a set. (-:

  • @TenderCrusade They're speaking for the janitors, paramedics, doctors, etc....the unsung heroes of the world. RUSH has a big voice and I'm glad they sent this message out to the world. It doesn't matter if they're rock stars or not...they still recognize and give a shout out to the real heroes of the world. A janitor would never come up to you and tell you he wants his recognition because real heroes don't want the recognition....that's what makes them real heroes.

  • @drummerkid71 Of course janitors want recognition. That's why they join unions and go on strike if they're not being compensated properly. And if a janitor walked up to most people seeking recognition, they'd laugh in his face. That's how sick this society is. People want that message of recognition coming from a rock band, because it entertains them, that's all. The message becomes unimportant without pleasure attached to it. Did you ever fall asleep in English class because it was boring?

  • @TenderCrusade I'm just saying I think there are bigger things being talked about here other than a friggin' janitor......lol. Sure they do good and work hard and deserve the recognition..... but I think they're talking about people who do BIGGER things for society or go through something unimaginable and don't get recognized.

  • @drummerkid71 lol...oh a friggin janitor, huh?..LOL...I'm just playing with you. I know what you're saying.

  • @TenderCrusade lol.... cheers!

  • the drum sound sort of ruins this song....im sure others like the sound of the drums, but i need 70's drums

  • why are there so many female rush fans commenting on this particular video? Its not that I have a problem with it (I'm female too :P) But why this video and why emphasis that they are female in their comments?

  • Love this video - takes on new meaning when you know the story behind it - hats of to Neil for introducing Ellis!! (Traveling Music - The Soundtrack to my Life and Times)

  • A lost classic from the masters of poetic prose. Looking forward to seeing them on their upcoming tour!

  • Alex is a true master of the guitar...how can he hit those notes? rarely ever do you see someone hit notes like that on guitar.

  • im 12 and love rush! hate rap crap!

  • @vinmaster25 The only rap that's bad are the ones that can be deconstructed into these four messages.

    1) I have money

    2) I have women

    3) I'm popular

    and 4) I killed/beat up a guy.

  • @interiorcrock Not necessarily, Cypress Hill talks about weed and killing people but the lyrics are so creative and the groove is so good that you sometimes dont pay attention to that

  • @interiorcrock and drugs
