  • Why am I suddenly craving catsup? :) haha! Love Carly!

  • good old Carly

  • I know this song is about more than just plain anticipation... love this song and Carly!!!

  • Love this generation. Miss it.

  • At the time this was current, I don't think I realized just how good it was. She is really something.

  • Love Carly, always a babe, even all these years later! ROCK ON CARLY!!!

  • Grew up listening to her. Wow, so hot back then!

  • thank you dad, you knew what good music was...i love u...this is what music was...

  • Smokin hot in every possible concievable way!! ;)

  • She wrote this during her love affair with Cat Stevens.

  • Those WERE the good old days.

  • Bitch needs my medicine

  • I simply love this song, this artist. Carly ROCKS!!

  • Most beautiful mouth in the history of the planet. BTW, everything else about her is beautiful too. I live in this era, I can't let go of the images of this time.

  • she's close of Carole King territory... hopefully Carole is not the kind of woman who bites you easily ... :)

  • super awesome ! totally adore it !

  • Damn, she is nice looking.

  • @pwk22 Yeah, and you know, surprisingly, she still looks pretty good for being in her 60s.

  • In the early seventies, along with Carole King and Jon Mitchell, Carly formed one helluva Triumvirate of female musical artists. Nothing has ever come close since... Their songs are Iconic...The youth listening to Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez & Miley Cyrus have no clue of what truly great music is...The closest thing nowadays might be Cat Power, Tori Amos and a handful of others, who barely get any mainstream airplay.

  • I like this song better than you're so vain. I love you Carly.

  • apparently they could not find a boom stand for her vocal mic

  • These were the good old days. This song started me loving her music. Don't know what happened with her and James Taylor but they seemed so right for each other. Like she said and it was true, "tomorrow we might not be together".

  • 15 and have secret love for carly simon

  • Anticipation is a perfect pop song. Carly is a great songwriter and a thrilling singer.

  • it's like being there.

  • so hot. sweet. beautiful.

  • I have been with you the whole my fine friend

  • hurry up ketchup, get on my fries!

  • These are the good olde days

  • For definition of sex appeal look under 'Carly Simon',...

  • What a great song...too bad it makes you think of ketchup. is nothing sacred Carly ?

  • Happy birthday Carly!

  • I Wish Times Were Easier Like They Were Back Then.

  • i love her hairstyles...

  • Love the song. Love the album. Her best!

  • Lovely Carly only 27 years old here., These were the good old days. Still lovely after all of these years. Sir David

  • This is such a precious post by one of my favorite singer/songwriters from a time when the world was a much simpler and safe and joyful place--well it was the "good old days" for me! Love, BobbyK

  • Oh, my, how young and vibrant she looks in this video!

  • jewish gals can be way hot too

  • @pretorious700 Can be? Trust me. They always were.

  • カーリー・サイモンのBESTはこのデビューアルバム、アンティシペイション です!佳曲ぞろい!

  • Have a sudden hunger for Ketchup...what's up with that?

  • @LeoHughes302 Funny. That's how I always envision this song, too. At least I remember that it's by Carly Simon, though, right?

  • What an incredible voice, perhaps only Karen Carpenter shares such unique a place.

  • Yes She Is and Always and Forever!...(but I think I DO take the end audience reaction here as a destruction to her work.. as a verbal slander with no respect! 2:34 )...Yes She Is...in omnipresence!..'Always The Woman! a LassieSongsUSA! FDIC!

  • now I see where Ben gets it from.. performing barefoot! I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree :)

  • how did James divorce her? what happened there??? I'd really like to know.

  • Her lips are great to look at but if you've ever had to wrestle with a set that big it ain't all it's cracked up to be.

  • @shatchett0 LOL, bit of a Steven Tyler mouth hahahaha

  • @SuperChawy: Only Carly Simon's mouth is 100% totally natural. I believe she is from African. Indian and the usual Americal mixture of descent. Poor old Steve Tyler is just an old man trying to get back his youth (like a total fuckin' loser).

  • The most beautiful woman, besides my wife, in the world.

  • thanks so much for posting this. after seeing this concert on tv I bought Carly's first album. I totally enjoyed her music until the 80's. Love you Carly.

  • Too funny, when the bassist comes over to help her with the mic, she looks like she's thinking, "do I look stupid, I know how to adjust a mic. Get lost, you're not gettin' any."

  • the songs were really fun back then. And she always looks like she's happy to be there pure talent and class

  • I agree back then they wrote reals songs not T&A

  • gorgeous genius talent

  • I LOVE CARLY SIMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! her voice is just perfect. And I cant choose a fave song, its just too hard!

  • she cannot be real, it is simply not fair for us, mere human beings...

  • talent. singer. musician. songwriter. no one can top her. i have her autograph (my parents saw her at a restaurant with jackie o in the early 80s. as a 20-something i have such appreciation for REAL music...a la Carly!

  • In the late 70's I was in the United States Marine Corp and a few of us went up to Massachusettes as Don W. was from there his family was in the cranberry business and we were going up there to be shown a GOOD time Massachusettes style .

They had property down at Martha's Vineyard and we ended up partying at a little bar nestled in the woods in the middle of no where.

I met Carly there & only talked with her for a few minutes before she had to get back to her table.

She had such a sexy voice

  • Carly Simon was my favorite performer during the 70's & 80's! From her first album through Boys In The Trees, what a great run! I remember buying them on 8 track, album, and cassette!

  • I had one heck of a crush on Carly Simon when I was 6 or 7 years old, most likely before that. I'm sure everyone looking at this video knows why :) Who ever thumbed this video down, please stay far away from me cause you may not be right in your mind and you could be dangerous RLMAO!

  • she and carol king 2 best 2 all time

  • That's a twelve string She is playing there in this awesome vid. What a beautiful artist and Yes she will always be really hot but her music is her real inner beauty. In my opinion Carly is and always will be the greatest female artist of all time.

  • Those were the good old days.

  • @ruthannsavary """" These are the good old days""""History repeats it's self.

  • would be nice to stay right there and enjoy the good old days, i sure remember!!!!

  • I love her!!! so much talent. nothing altering her voice....just a songwriter and her guitar...with unbridled talent!

  • This lady lays to shame every artist that came after 1980. The crap that passes for melody, lyrics and music today sounds like 5 alley cats in heat. Carly, you are right, These Are The Good Old Days! Lock me up in 1972 and throw away the key.

  • @balboaboats Ditto!

  • I named our cat after Carly, my wife just shook her head, , , the cat before her was named Stevie, , mmm I wonder where that could have come from :-)

  • she dedicated and wrote this song to his old friend Cat Stevens

  • @myryckyz She wrote it for Cat Stevens, they were dating.

  • and she could suck the chrome off a bumper hitch.or did mineanyway

  • She's beyond hot....I slept with the NO SECRETS album for a year...

  • a perfect song !

    a masterpiece !

  • Geez. We are living in a Dark Ages of Music these days. Look at the talent, quality, and originality in this clip. We are so, so stuck in an era of uninspired, tired, over-produced, over vocodered/pitch-corrected "artists." I'm not saying we should try to imitate the 60s and 70s scene... that's over and done with (and yet still is way more captivating than today's automatons). I am saying we are indeed in a Dark Ages and hopefully an age of Renaissance will come around again. Luv this clip.

  • this is a great song. brings back great memories

  • The so called artists of today should be forced to watch clips like this so they can see what true talent looks like. The artists then (like Carly) did not just perform, they composed music, were lyricists, and truly talented musicians. Carly plays guitar in this song, she plays piano in "That's The Way I Always Heard it Should Be" from this same concert. Today's "artists" (for the most part, not saying all) wouldn't know what a piano was if it fell on them.

  • My God she's beautiful/ I mean when you see her perform, she has got to have one of the most sensual, and aesthetic human qualities I've ever seen. Simply outstanding!

    HM

  • SHE WAS SMOKING LEGS,TITS BEAUTY AND LIPS,PLYS GUITAR,PIANO AND SINGS LIKE A HOT ANGEL,NOT BAD.

  • wow, all that hair and teeth...

  • When she sold it to Heinz Ketchup for their commercials it sort of ruined it .

  • @hanksnow82 Some would say the Heinz commercial is what MADE this song!

    the original ketchup song!

  • @hanksnow82 yup! HEINZ SUCKS! ever since like 1975 I always buy another brand and I never voted for that _______!

  • Carly is one talented individual - plays guitar and piano; is a talented songwriter and an incredible singer. It's too bad that she suffers from unbearable stage fright (though you don't notice it here). I believe her fear of performing live shows is so severe that I think in total, she has made less than 100 concerts in her entire career. I was fortunate enough to see her once in concert and she is amazing. And at that concert, she was barefoot!!

  • WOW what a find! Thank you for posting this!

  • When I was a teenager, this lady was my idol. I followed her thru my 30's and 40s. Was broken hearted about her and James Taylor when they broke up. They seemed like a sure thing back then because they harmonized so well. I love her music and her published work. She is extremely talanted and gifted and a musical genius.

  • @peachescartoon ya ain't the only one, my whole class voted her "female vocalist of the year" back home in utah! Luv that BIG flashy smile of hers and them pearly white teeth,...she's soooooooo HOT!!! = D

  • So cute @ 1:21 ...

  • Been a fan since then and had all her albums. They were the good ol' days! I wanted to play 12 string but ended up just being a good singer and entertaining people from the stage.

  • I love how more and more videos and shows and whatnot are showing up on the web from the past. I find I watch this type of stuff more then modern clips...

and WOW she was a beauty... I also saw her at her current age and she's still rockin the looks.

  • james taylor was a lucky human being. end of post.

  • Love how she's barefoot too! Just plain love Carly!!!

  • who cares if this was a kecthup song?

  • These are the good old days!

  • Carly Simon was my first favorite singer. I still love her music more than any crap i hear on radio today....

  • Carly is a sweet dream. That is why I Adore her!

  • A magnificent performance and the message about being here now is so relevant to all humans.

  • She is what you call an "American Treasure", thank you God, :)

  • Carly wrote this for then boyfriend Cat Stevens... he then wrote Sweet Scarlet for her.

  • @paisano did she go out with Cat?

I wonder who he wrote How Can I Tell You?for?

  • WOW!!! Love it!!

  • Listen to the wolf whistles! I'd be whistling too and I'm straight!

  • Heartbreakingly gorgeous and so very very talented. I've got all her original vinyls. Beautiful!

  • love the bare feet!!!!

  • what an incredible voice and style! I have been in love with her since I was a kid going through puberty , circa 1970.

  • Songs just don't get much better... thanks Carly

  • she likes to go barefooted, seen it several times! sexy>>>>

  • so beautiful strong natural and sexy - the song and her

  • I think she left out the 2nd verse, still absolutely wonderful !

  • Hands down one of the Top 10 most talented female artists of all time, what a trail blazer she was years ahead of the pack.....and smokin' hot I might add. Love me some Carly, awesome musician.

  • In some of her interviews, Simon has discussed the severe stage fright that plauged her off and on over the years. Here, however, she seems completely self-assured, indeed to be having fun:) --

  • They don't make them like this anymore, do they.

  • One of Simon's best songs. Maybe THE best:) --

  • @stevevandien THE BEST!! followed by you're so vain...

  • @nomass3 Also -- not sure if this is the title -- "The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be" -- DAMN good song:) --

  • @stevevandien you are right, i forgot about that one!!

  • @nomass3 I really think it's one of the best 70s songs. The lyrics are WAY above most others of those days. And the music is absolutely correct for the lyrics and mood. AND Simon's vocal is just right in every way -- dramatic or lyric, according to the song's demands. DANG good stuff.

  • @nomass3 It's also better than "You're So Vain." But I'm probably prejudiced, because I have some reservations about the original recording of that song. Now the song is damn GOOD, and I don't care whether it's about Warren Beatty or anybody else. For my taste, however, the record is too long. We don't need those pseudo-orchestral synthesizers and the chorus repeated ad nauseam. The song made its point roughly 15-20 seconds before the record concludes --

  • She looks like she has a little buzz going.

  • I was fortunate enough to grow up during this era. So any talented artists like Carley!!!

  • Really enjoyed watching this....song brings back a lot of childhood memories of just listening to this song.

  • What a voice! With claret like this, is there any wonder that the nasal whining of today's vocalists come off so shallow. Note that his is a LIVE performance and NOT a studio mixed and massaged music product. And you can tell she's just enjoying singing this song so much. Thanks for taking me back.

  • Love her music.

  • I wonder who the 1 person is that dislikes this vid? What a dolt, lol :)

  • @clintonearlwalker It is likely a Tea Party member from Alabama.

  • @BartA22 I was figuring a Taliban from Afghanistan or something.

  • @clintonearlwalker Same thing.

  • Man she is sooo HOT....and i LOVE this song!! What a voice.

  • She is Amazing

  • what a wonderful song , i love carly ,made me cry . i remember this as a kid we went to new Hampshire on vacation in 1972 , memories , thank you miss the 1970's

  • no female singer will ever come close to that voice!!!!!

  • It's great to see live performances of her early stuff, when we now know she was dealing with serious stage fright. Makes her performance here all the more courageous. What a fabulous singer, and a fabulous babe.

  • It's amazing when someone is so great. Really a fantastic song!

  • @ral316 those (were) the good ole days. it is good that we can still listen to all her songs on here!!!!!

  • these are the good old days

  • Is that Larry David on bass? LOL.

  • I like how she goes for the high note...

  • Great Delivery!

  • This can only be "the Heinz 57 song", which is why jingles should be used to sell ketchup, not pop music.

  • WTF, M8 ! ?

  • shes beautiful an the song is timeless and that dress sexy

  • People say that Beyoncé is the best singer nowadays....

I disagree, totally..... It´s trash .... Horrible songs...

But Carly Simon in 1972, a Singer and Composer just made this simple song... and after all these years, We all enjoy this song.

    I love Carly

  • @bobosemlimit my sentiments exactly!

  • Damn straight! Everything is about "booty" and tits today. How about talent to go with it? Not! Carly is pure talent and just HAPPENS to look good. There is none of that around anymore... This sure as **** isn't "club music"!

  • @ArchDigger19 I agree, absolutely. Simon is not the least bit difficult to gaze upon, but she has also written some terrific songs and she remains a compelling performer:) --

  • @bobosemlimit amen....I do not respect an artist that does not write their own music or does not sing from the heart....Artists like Carly, James Taylor, and Carole King are the masters....Not someone like Byonnce who is selling her image rather than her music...

  • @bobosemlimit Beyonceisn't musican, she's a beautiful girl that takes advantage of her body and face to makea living. Is that the classic definaition of hooker, I ask mtysleff?

  • @bobosemlimit She's anticipating getting laid.nice body.

  • Because of this song, I gave this album to my fiance back then. TYVM for posting

  • and sol.d a lot of catsup too

  • the good 'ol days!

    class of '72

  • Sooooo Freakin CLASSY!!!!!!!!And that dress.WOW!!

  • i second and third that!!!!!!

  • Chasing after some finer day,,,,,,,,,,,,still

  • It's her lips. So sexy!!!

  • She has a style all of her own, she was hot then and she's Hot now.

  • She look as good now as she did back then =)

  • Wow..

  • I'd bet a million that she could still get away with wearing that hottttt dress. :)

Love you, Carly. Your music reminds me of much simpler times. They were the 'good old days'.

  • what a voice!!!!!

  • GREAT VOCAL

  • P.S. Happy New Year to you! :D

  • I love you Carly...I love all your music...thanks for all the great music! John :)

( me anticipo)

  • Great Stuff!!!

  • Carly singing ' these are the good ol' days' back in 1972....three plus decades later...her words ring true.

  • I sing this as Constipation in Karaoke bars .Constipation is making me wait!!!!

    People laugh!

  • Carly, I just read on Amazon that you do not like your Spoiled Girl album. I think some of those songs are among your best. Tired Of Being Blond (rockin'), Anyone But Me (straight from the hall of fame, one of the worlds best lovers, Darling you're not to blame, I'm just sorry you've been discovered... ooh, excellent verse.), and Black Honeymoon (haunting). Just wanted you to know I love 'em.

  • I was still poopin' in my diapers in 1972, but this is an incredibly good performance---you always were and always will be a wonderful artist Carly!!

  • Wonderful! :)

  • truly one of the most talented singer/songwriters of our generation. Her song have withstood the test of time.

  • Truly talented. She sounds almost exactly like she does on her albums. That is a true performer.
