  • Beautiful Sadness...

  • The singing is there for you to interpret while you feel the music waft over you then overwhelm your senses both inner and outer. They have supplied the music. You supply the story. That is Sigur Ros.

  • Yusadalosfa yusosla yula.. Yousadafosla yusosfa yusa. Yousafadosla yusosla yusa. Yousasfado yusasla yuso. Yousadalo saffa. Yusosalasla. Yousadalosaffa. Yousosla, youso. Yousaffadoso yousasla, youso. Yousaslo yousaslo, youla.. Youshadalo, youlandas.. Yousadalanda lalas.. Youshinalo, youlandas.. shaffalandas. Hopelandic is a pretty language!

  • Wrong note at 3.04!!!! xD

anyway I love them!!! they are the best of the best!

  • this is fucking awesome. bring anyone to tears

  • godofrock007: There´s no translation for this for this is hopelandish...some kind of elfish Jónsi made or just makes as he goes. The whole album () is in this hopelandish

  • @AnomisTube what?!? he's not even speaking in a real language? i saw them a few years back in hawaii. they are so amazing live! they really are something special. sorry i wanna brag. at the concert in hawaii about half the cast of LOST was there and they sat like 3 rows in front of me. the hobbit was there. anyway, love this band. TAKK is my favorite album

  • I can feel the emotion, but where can I find the translation to this?

  • Comment removed

  • i would have to say that despite the one little mistake in this video (which might i add is the only mistake i've witnessed from them thus far) it is probably the most beautiful rendition of the most beautiful song to date.

  • I bought their CD for my ex before we broke up. I ended up keeping it and listening to their beautiful tracks. Sigur Ros eased my heartbreak.

  • Amazing live version.

  • if like me i love depressing music, this talk talk, radio head it seems to get to me more than other music can, happy to be sad

  • I Saw these guys live at latitude.. i have fullfilled one of my thing's to do before i die :) Although i am a teenager :L

  • id kill to see them live

  • One of the most life affirming songs i've ever heard.

The emotions this band music stirs reaffirms that life is about something alot more powerful than possessions, status, etc

  • if i was there i probly would have cried :P

  • OMG i came here 4 the same reason.....

    :(

  • @ ooTessioo

Haha, Jared Leto should stick to acting and leave music making to Sigur Ros and Radiohead

  • experimentalmente un genio

  • Still one of the most depressing songs I've ever heard.

  • this song awakens us to love...

  • amazing, best concert I've ever been

  • beautiful

  • Cool thanks alot for that i just went on their websites and i really like it

    Thanks

  • Thats so amazing i would love to see these guys

But what are there over tracks like

  • Other tracks are good, this one is Brilliant. From the "Untitled" album. Best tracks I've found ever from them are from their website, they have many free downloads of songs live, better than their recorded stuff.

  • Best live band out there

  • breathtaking,,,,, chills

  • Tienen un directo acojonante.

  • so good.

  • excelante cancion, excelente banda

  • no words!!!

    ...

  • Hopelandic language.

  • what language is this

  • Es de no creer... increíble banda, como me hace flotar!!!

  • Wonderful atmospheres. I can't stop listening to () album..is very beautiful.

  • They chanced the way i listen to music. 5/5

  • i agree

  • Sigur Ros are simply breathtaking, especially the song Hoppipolla, which i've listened to 247 times, this song also is amazing

  • the music video for Vaka is amazing, too.

  • does anyone know if the intro is played through a harmonium, or something similar? just some random fact i'd like to know, thank you:)

  • pretty sure it is a harmonium

  • i call it a pump organ. I'm pretty sure it's an organ if its standing up and has pedals instead of the hand pump deal. but a harmonium and a reed pump organ are pretty much the same thing. just in a different set up. I bought a pump organ just like that one. its awesome. its an Estey children's pump organ. well mine is, i mean.

  • will be the song played at my funeral...

never heard a band give me so many differnt emotions ...

  • This song restores my faith in the world.

  • i could sit for extended periods of time,

    weeping,laughing...loving... to this song.

this is as close to heaven as we'll get for now.

  • Some of their best work came out of ()

not saying their newer stuff isn't good either, its great

    But this is so incredible!

  • im surprised that jonsi uses a martin D15 for his live performances, i would imagine a professional musician would use a better instrument, any reasons you think he does that? I think maybe he would prefer the more subtle sound of the d15 as opposed to a D28 or something with a larger body...

  • The D15 is an excellent guitar. It sounds great and fine with the music sigur ros produces.

This is one of my favorites off (). Such an amazing band. People need to stop listening to crap on the radio.

  • amen to that ;)

  • @moonlightpockets i believe thats a 000-15 guitar, doesnt look like a dreadnought. awesome performance, i must say. ;D

  • this song gives me the chills

their new album sounds amazing, loving the new direction.

  • A new girl i just met showed me this song. And i have to say it almost brings me to tears.

  • @BuddyWillis Marry her now.

  • @TheMiracleTheSleeper She left me last year.

I can't even listen to this song anymore....

  • @BuddyWillis Fucking bad times. I'd hug you if I could.

If you like Sigur Ros, YOU LIKE CREEPY HUGS FROM GUYS YOU'VE NEVER MET ON THE INTERNET.

  • @BuddyWillis The same thing happened to me, and since that day I'm in love with that girl

  • hehe wrong piano key on 3:04,but i love sigur ros and this is one of my favorite songs and everybody makes mistakes ;D

  • Do you suppose we can officially call these songs by their alternate names now instead of the "Untitled #X" thing? It was a fun gimmick for a while, but it seems a bit pointless now that the working titles have been used for so long.

  • i don't think so, they only gave them names for live performances, i like the fact that they were untitled because a song doesn't really have to have a title i can just be music

  • awesome song..........

  • no its called untitled 1 and vaka.

  • mmmmmmm amazing my favorite Sigur Ros Song.

I love the Vocals of this one! if you listen to the album he doesnt do the highs in the album like he does live and i love it!

the highs are what gets you! Go Sigur ros! i have all your albums! and more to come!

  • Does anyone no the name of this song?

    then i mite buy it

  • Well worth buying anything by them. For this tune, called VAKA your best bet is to buy the album Hvarf - Heim (Heim). Its a double album and this track is the third on disc too - a live version. The album contains the tunes from their film Heima. Youll get it easily on itune or Amazon or anywhere really. Well worth it. Enjoy...

  • Many Thanks

  • untitled 1 (a.k.a.) Vaka

  • for the original recorded version get their album "( )" the case has no markings other than their name sigur ros and a sleepwalking child on the back

  • My girlfriend and I were there that cold night in London. It's all about the music man. I floated back home that night...and felt stronger the next day...

  • I would have done the same. wish i was there...)=

  • wow!!

Can that guy rele sing like that!

or is his mic put thru a synthesiser at the end?

  • yes S1aanKaan he really can sing like that! amazing voice.

  • Que lindo Temaaaaaa

  • you can't even compare the two

  • im sorry did u just seriously say that?

  • Sure, if that's your opinion.

    Haha.

  • ur mum suck cuzz she born ya

  • one republic suck, they started mooching off of timberland to get famous, they should be shot, the pitiful bastard

  • comments like this make me not take you seriously. How, can you on one hand claim to like music like sigur ros and still be so hateful.

  • I'm a huge fan of Sigur Ros, but more importantly of this relatively new musical expression called by names like impressionistic music and ambient music.

What I'm wondering is - What does the growing popularity of music like this mean?

In some ways it feels like a musical movement.

The music is beautiful and peaceful to be sure, but also... slow, almost processional (like a funeral), often with minor cords that express angst.

A musical movement expressing sadness and resignation over...?

  • its not aimed to be "over" anything in particular. this movement is getting so much attention because people in general have things to cry over and depress over, so every single person can listen to any of these songs, and automatically relate to the underlying melancholy found both in the melodys and the lyrics.

thats why radiohead is my favorite band. they are what i turn to when things aren't going my way.

  • right

  • this post 911 world is full of sorrow and anxiety, so people tend to gravitate to melancholic music. S R is popular in U.S. I think as a reflection on how a lot of young people fell about all the violence being committed around the world, seemingly without an end in site. Just some thoughts. Peace.....

  • That's silly. 911 has nothing to do with it. It's just beautiful to listen to. Once upon a time that was the point of making music.

In any event, Sigur Ros predate 911.

  • yea its nothing to do with 911. For all you know it could be about the band

  • and for all you know its about 911

  • if YOU want it to be about that then you can believe that.

  • you know what, fuck what i said. sigur ros rule, their music is beautiful and it is about the band because they gave it the name vaka which is the name of one the band member's children

  • :*)

  • SHIVERS!

his singing at about 4 mins is so soulful

really different to the recorded version

    Takk...

  • The mistake actually sounded kind of cool. >:0

  • has anybody got the chords to this beautiful piano piece?

  • its not out of tune...he plays the third of the chord flat and out of the original key. This song is the most beautiful song ive heard..love vaka...love sigur ros...

  • I don't think he does it on purpose.

  • he doesnt :P , im thinking its just a mistake...but either way still beautiful right?

  • Well... I prefer it the correct way. :P

  • Þessi sömgur er fallegur. Sigur Rós er hið bezt.

  • Pay attention...03:04 Out of tune.

Still yet, i love their sound.

    Takk Sigur Ros.

  • (ㅠ..ㅠ)

  • sigur ros. everything you do. to me is. is fucking perfect. i never thought that someone could put my feelings of fear, sadness, hope, love etc into music. but sigur ros do it everytime.

  • Yeah, pretty sure it's a mistake.

    Unbelievable song, unbelievable voice!

  • Great song!

Is it just me or does the piano make a mistake at about 3.02?

  • very right indeed.

At 03:04, Kjartan (Kjarri) Sveinsson is out of tune.

Just a small detail, don´t take me wrong Kjarri :P

    Takk

  • I love

  • :~(

  • This is my favorite song ever!!!! You rock send it to me i'd love you for ever

  • Just:

    Brilliant...

  • this version is amazing

  • you are my hero for uploading this. i tilt my hat off to you sir/madam!

  • oh my god. this is so beautiful. when he gets to the very high part at the end I weep

  • Little screen blip in the middle their. This has to be the most overrated Sigur Ros song but still cool. The music video won a number of awards.
