this works on all gimps gimp shop is more like photoshop and i reccomend that insted of paying 1,000$ to buy photoshop gimp has way more things it may not look like it but photoshop makes it look hard so that you think its professional but gimp is relly better and on top of that its free!!!! so get it one more thing if you need help with gimp then message me

if you have 2.4 the script fu is in Xtns on the gimp tool bar. but not all of the same things are on it.

I should be sure I added LOL because I did still learn from the tutorial. I am a beginner-kindergarten-and just having trouble because there is so much to take in. Do you recommend, or have a basic listing of where to start? I would like to start with something really simple to build confidence.

Well, to start your best off messing around with the tools on the side, to figure out what each does on your own. Mess around a little bit and try to get a bit of an understanding of the program on your own. Once you feel confident with the basics, change settings around on different tools. Also, the first thing you need to totally understand, is layers. If you don't already know just ask:)

I semi understand layers. the first is the background, then perhaps some typing then something such as an item. Is that about right?

Yer, basically. And you also have to realize when to make a new layer, and how one layer on top of another will effect the one beneath (sorry if that didn't make sense). Also in the layers dialogue, I believe you can change the layer transparency, sometimes changing layer transparency can be really important..I'll try to have a new video out soon..

thank you for that info. I have little or no concept of why layers are used or needed. I am going to start there since you cannot do anything without a layer. Can you suggest what might be in - say 4 layers? Would there be a large number of layers? It seems to me that I would have just a few, but I just don't know why/how to use layers.

Yes, ofcourse. Although what kindof pictures do you mean? Like taken from Google Images, pictures of your camera, or actually drawn yourself? Can't do a whole lot on the 'drawn yourself' pictures, as they require actual talent, not just knowledge :)
