How does buyers like me know when the shipping charges are correct?

Is there a flat rate box as well? I'v purchased some small houses and things that don't weigh nothing and this guy is saying the shipping cost $18.75. The stuff is for my ho scale layout (train layout). Anyway I had asked him before I made a bid on the items what the shipping would be. And he said about $8.00. The items don't weight anything . I don't understand why he wanting to charge so much. The items are all plastic and they are so really very small. Help me!! :(

don't do it!!! do not ship flat rate you cannot track your package to other countries uk, canada or australia do not scan the packages. i have lost $998 in 2 months oct and nov 2011 paypal made me refund because there is no way to prove it was delivered and usps says sorry we can't track flat rate envelopes or boxes.

@clairshair2 That is kind of your mistake. You can add a tracking number to any shipping on USPS. So with a flat rate box there is a 2 dollar surcharge for tracking and delivery confirmation

@TejasM14 Thats not true you cannot track internatiomal flat rate packages, you can't buy insurance or delivery confirmation on international flat rate.

wow you guys got it cheap , out hear in canada u get a box and you cant go over 5 kg and thats 17 bucks and you can ship it any where in the world but that canada post for you lol.

Great video, but what happens when the clerk at post office is infromed that you are shipping liquid? Will they still allow the shipment? One tip: ziplock bag might be better than using a plastic shopping bag. You can get ziplock bags for about 5 cents each in a 20 pack at most dollar stores.

I've been trying to make some purchases on ebay, but paypal has made it so difficult for me.I just want to use a single credit card.Don't wish to use paypal.It wants a checking route number.Which i don't use checks.I do have a banking card.This will keep me from buying on ebay, and force me to close my account.It will cost a few ebay sellers some purchases that add up to $1000.Ebay sellers have some good sells going on , but for me paypal.Cost sellers profit!

@SuperUnlawful I think it all depends on where it is going,, From ohio to Indiana, Id use regular mail,, from ohio to california, flat rate may be the best!

@muastik USPS is the federal post office. it's always there. UPS is united parcel service, a company, NOT federal that delivers packages but does nothing for free.
