On the Colorado River at Lees Ferry thee is an orange bead head small streamer in green. It is true that this fly too never works on the Green River for Browns.. I think you are onto something with the orange beads for rainbow waters. Leave the bead off and it catches browns. Or change it to copper bead head maybe? Browns love copper right?

In England we call it a buzzer variation,we also use different ribbings such as holo tinsels in various colours great all round fly pattern
