And she did and several others(Chicago cross,West coast swing,Salsa)we then became a dancing couple and Bob was no longer in picture,lol.But we were part of a dance group representing the Plankhouse in Sacramento.We went on to compete and won 3 major competitions in Sac and were then official judges and couldn't compete as we won most.We opened for Donna Summer at Caesars Lake Tahoe as a dance group.I loved Donna Summer and was so excited that we could meet her back stage after her show.
I can tell you that at the age of 19 i looked older,6'4" tall 200 lbs and an athelete.I was taken to a club in Sacramento by a teacher friend from HS and got me in.And i was just enamored with the scene,bright disco ball,drinks,women in mid 20's to 30's looking great and wanting to DANCE.I befriended a beautiful waitress who could touch dance from hell but her partner stomped his feet to this beautiful song.Iknew i had rhythm i'm from Rio De Janeiro,Brazil.I asked could you teach me.
I am 53, from the big Apple. Grew up listening to all this music. I am so glad I grew up during those times, it started in 76 for me then it ran all the way to 83 when I joined the Marines. I hung out tough for 7 years in the best city in the world. Loved it. Worked all day, partied all night and then repeated.

Say what you want about disco...there were some decent and great songs as well as singers who emerged from that era. Sure beats the hell out of the crap the kids and the 20 somethings listen to today.

I grew up on this sort of music. Nothing beats it. It moves your feet without you wanting to. I'm South African, not 'black' but even I will tell you, nobody moves the way a black person does! They've got talent the rest can only dream of. Others try to do their best, but most times the black dudes aren't even trying, they just move to the rythm naturally. You can 'see' that they 'feeling' the music, the beat and moving the right parts at the right time for the right amount....so cool!
This was in the somewhat early stages of Disco. Videos were not being made yet, so for this to have a video is very rare. There was no MTV, the only thing you had back then was American Bandstand and SoulTrain. Most acts didn't have a video. Cerrone was ahead of his time in ways.

Is it my imagination or those were times that offer more FUN and people were HAPPIER. I mean, I look at the young people today, and they walk without energy, they are always looking down at their iphones (or whatever), and they seem oblivioius to the world around them. In the 70's and 80's people walked like they were always listening to a fun song (and remember that there no ipods). Life was more fun !

I grew up on this sort of music. Nothing beats it. It moves your feet without you wanting to. I'm South African, not 'black' but even I will tell you, nobody moves the way a black person does! They've got talent the rest can only dream of. Others try to do their best, but most times the black dudes aren't even trying, they just move to the rythm naturally. You can 'see' that they 'feeling' the music, the beat and moving the right parts at the right time for the right amount....so cool!

This was in the somewhat early stages of Disco. Videos were not being made yet, so for this to have a video is very rare. There was no MTV, the only thing you had back then was American Bandstand and SoulTrain. Most acts didn't have a video. Cerrone was ahead of his time in ways.

Is it my imagination or those were times that offer more FUN and people were HAPPIER. I mean, I look at the young people today, and they walk without energy, they are always looking down at their iphones (or whatever), and they seem oblivioius to the world around them. In the 70's and 80's people walked like they were always listening to a fun song (and remember that there no ipods). Life was more fun !
