  • Cool vid good info

  • I appreciate this video. Thank you.

  • A lot of these have been suggested already, but how about a roll of plastic bags? Theyre tossed around nowadays but its hard to match the versatility of a new, hole-free plastic bag, and they might become hard to find when the apocalypse rolls around.

  • you don't inhale pipes just so you know

  • CONDOMS AND BIRTH CONTROL!!!!! people will still need to cure the itch when society breaks down. at least they'll want to do it safely.

  • Shampoo is a good thing especially the travel sizes and stability to keep gas fresh I've got chess and checkers and several playing card games too

  • hand lotion and playboys.

  • Porn magazines would be good for trading too

  • What's #1 Jeff's Frivolous Prepping item? FLESHLIGHT!

  • i think you have it here i have been thinking about this myself you should keep extra things like disposable razors tooth brushes medicines soap i am looking into makeing my own soap too extra clothes if you can get them for free or keep your old clothes that dont fit or you dont want but are still good same with shoes i think people forget about shoes the most and its something to keep in mind nail clippers extra these are a few things i have been thinking about and keeping extras of

  • In the event of a total society break down, my first stop would be the sporting goods stores. They have everything you need for the most part to survive.

  • chew its good for bee stings i got one scoutmaster ran too the truck and got a can of copenhagen and put it on the sting i would go loot a lumber yard and a hardware

  • meditation jeff.

  • shaving razors and a way to sharpen them

  • GASOLINE!!! Save a SHITLOAD of gasoline in like a few 50 gallon drums and trade it per gallon! Generators, cars, molotov cocktails all use gasoline as one of their main components!

  • @ductape95 Yes but gas goes bad pretty quickly

  • @footbalr074 Gas going bad? I've never heard of that. How did it survive all those years liquifying from fossils and surviving the refinement process?

  • @Febeleh Oil when processed to the degree it makes gasoline will not last a large amount of time, hence why companies make fuel stabilizers to extend this life, but even with that it still has a limited life, diesel fuel will last a bit longer than standard gasoline

  • Prep for life without internet: Porn magazines (or a fleshlight depending on who you talk too)

  • Ever seen someone who missed their morning coffee? Those suckers will kill your children without a second thought for a cup. In the drug aisle, pick up some multi vitamins to supplement your crappy new diet, some pain killers because folks with headaches are not happy people. antibiotics are literal life savers so will be at a mega premium.

  • Salt stock up on salt. It's good for food prep and preservation.

  • brew your own beer....distill your own moonshine...

  • @paintball626 check ,and....check

  • if I ever learned anything from the Book of Eli, it's that you should prep lots of shampoo, lots of soap, lots of chapstick, and lots of bibles...

  • prep condoms....lots and lots of condoms....

  • hotsauce.. never goes bad..... liven it up!

  • Do you really support looting ? With all your ethics I thought you wouldn't support it. Or is it looting when SHTF not just stupid people wanting to loot after a baseball team winning.

  • I WOULD LOOT ALL THE FLESH LIGHTS then sell them to chronic masturbators

  • Books are a great source of tons of information, hit up your local thrift stores and you will pay pennies on the dollar for them, you can build out an extensive library for next to nothing. I would suggest a few bottles of Grain Alcohol too if it is available in your area, very concentrated, can be burned for stove fuel, used as antiseptic, ingested, etc..

  • dont forget the condoms

  • Jeff, you're forgetting the most important thing... good ol' T.P. it is one of the most important things nobody thinks about. One of the most ordered items in middle eastern exchange programs is TP... just saying

  • Who ever said anybody would be interested in bartering?

  • @Y34RZ3R0iscoming Bartering is lower risk than attempting to steal from other, possibly well armed or well backed up people. Unless you are damn sure you can take what you want without repercussion, bartering would be more logical.

Not that everyone you meet will be thinking logically.

  • Tobacco could be worth its weight in GOLD...

  • If society ever does break down, having a bag of 50-100 cannabis seeds would be great.

They are legal to own in most countries as long as you don't plant them. Hemp can be eaten, used as fuel and used for making paper, rope, textiles and plastic. It grows quickly and is a hardy plant.

Considering how little is needed for the pain and stress relieving properties, it would also be great for trading.

  • Jeff, I really like your idea of books. Having a library of useful prepper books, along with some interesting novels is a great idea.

Historical books would also be a good thing to keep in the library.

As far as preps that people don't normally think of...I would say prep things such as screws and fasteners, rope and spare parts for the machines that you use (car, mower, chainsaw, firearm, etc.)

Also, communications are a must. Every serious prepper should be a HAM operator.

  • Tampons.

  • instead of prepping instructional books, just learn it now?

  • @predixxion They're good for teaching others.

  • @predixxion

Theres waaaaay to much to learn.

We are talking about YEARS, even DECADES to get good at living off the land.

There is no "learning it now", because now is all we have!

While you should learn SOME, its better to always have the information in book form.

  • What if this happens. Let's say you trade a smoker for some of his food supply and now you have more food. Eventually that smoker is going to run out of his food supply faster than you. Now you are the guy with the food and now you're a target for the starving people that traded their food away. Just something I thought of...

  • how about this. I dont much care if it is my place someone is looting or not,or if it is for survival. If someone is looting in a shtf situation I am shooting or running them off. I dont give two shits if I get killed in the process.in shtf be part of the solution that restores order, not hooded Abicrombe & Fitch ducebags that ultimately get there asses shot off.

  • @jordantheok What?

  • @corpsemunger Look, what is yours is still yours even during SHTF, Same thing for everyone else. Even entertaining the idea of looting is extremely unethical. And I am willing too die defending other peoples stuff let alone my own.I dont much care who disagrees with that assessment because it is truth. I may be an atheist but damn it all if I am not my brothers keeper. : )

  • @jordantheok What?

  • Haha you waited until he last minute to say those things...nevermind

  • Also on a serious note- boardgames, playing cards, maybe a couple footballs. Things that will be low maintenance and able to be reused for entertainment.

  • I thought that we were going to rape and eat all the people who didn't stock up on firearms for " free time entertainment "?

  • The king of post apocalyptic commodities is ice and the ability to make it.

  • I woudnt recommend whiskey or bourbon for cleaning wounds to much sugar in it wil get all sticky beter use plain alchol u get from a drug store i gues u call it in America

  • Essentials: water, beans, rice, and iodized salt. Frivolous (other than alcohol and tobacco): Coffee, tea, and sugar.

  • how long will the tobacco last? does it even go stale?

  • Entertainment can not be overloked. I've been to many fires where we are 'monitoring' from the Fire Engine overnight, and you can get bored fast, then tempers can get frayed. We have found ourselves improvising games from what we can find....In my fire kit I always carry a little sketch pad, a tiny deck of cards, sweets, gum, and a charger for my phone. Plenty of games on there.

  • go old school and get deck of cards and board games

  • Jeff, tabacco can be used to stop bleeding aswell, so it has multiple uses aswell.

  • Comment removed

  • fleshlight rental

  • porn

  • Dont prep because you will be considered a terrorist! Didnt you guys read the ndaa?

  • this frightened me. i'm scared of the future... :(

  • Americans are so scared of everything. lol. OMG the world is ending LMAO

  • @neolithic3 Americans are not the only ones prepping, look at Europe, many preppers over there too. Also, im sure people in 3rd world countries would prep too if they didn't have a constant struggle to live day by day all the time because their governments are terrorizing them and being hypocritical bastards. Libya, Africa, Cuba, and Syria are just a few to name.

  • Great vid Jeff as always. As someone else said. Weed and seeds would be a good idea. even though it is illegal, it would be a great thing to stock up on for many of the same reasons as alcohol. Recreation, medical reasons etc...

  • It's not a good idea to try to take advantage of addicts, you would be very likely to end up dead. Not smart!

  • enabling i love it!!!

  • for children Lego i like lego and you can rebuild them :)

  • what disaster do you think there will be just wondering and great vid Jeff

  • Here's a tip for you Jeff, if your baccy does dry up pop some orange peel in there, for a couple of hours and reseal. Does the trick fella.

  • @thedawnawakening i've also had great success with potato peel..and unlike orange peel it doesn't take odor on.

  • Jeff, while that's all well and good, if that tobacco isn't stored properly, and humidity monitored, that tobacco is going to be as good as smoking newspaper. Doesn't take long to dry out, and once it's dried out, it's unsmokeable. Alcohol is good to go.

  • alcohol, drugs, tobbaco, silver & gold aren't frivolous, they're nececcesary! id wanna have my acoustic guitar to have some music while we wait out the apoc!

  • Think long term tobacco seed and a small still.

  • if you live in a college town, think about stocking up on marijuana as well lol

  • well .. for me .. i could go without booze .. without tobacco ... but live without coffee ?? couldnt do it >.<

  • Bic lighters would be an excilent cheap thing to store for bartering.. IF power goes down and IF there is no other way to say cook or warm your home the need for fire really rises and seeing as most people dont know how to use firesteels, friction fires, ect. If it is a good amount of time.. say a month or more then those bic lighters that you payed.. what? A dollar for four of em? Well they could turn into something very valuable for bartering.. Just my thoughts.

  • In the US its unheard of $40 for 2oz. In alberta, we get taxed $0.30 a gram, or $136.07 per pound. Resulting in a 2oz pouch in stores costing a minimum of $30.

  • alcohol can also be used to purify water. In the middle ages peoples primary means of hydration was small beer ( very low alcohol content beer which does not dehydrate the user but would kill the germs in the water ) Sailors drank "grog" water mixed with rum because water stored in a wooden barrel after being at sea for a month would develop algae and tastes like pond scum

  • @dogsnammo Can also be used to clean firearms.

  • I think you could stay pretty busy buy growing a garden, cutting wood, fortifying your home, escaping from NY which has been turned into a giant prison,

  • coffee

  • I'd love to stock up on Alcohol & Tobacco, I've talked about that with my wife, but they are unfortunately my weakness as an ex-smoker & drinker, and if I stored them I'm affraid they wouldn't last long ...... lol.

Don't forget another good trading item would be porn, I know that sounds bad but its true ..... lol

  • Comment removed

  • ill go and download every single cutlery lover video onto my computer, that should keep me entertained for a while ;)

  • So, I should loot the pharmacies first, huh? LOL, I'm kidding. I know what you meant. Seriously, though, beer has a shelf life and I'd stay away from beer over a year old. BUT, it would be the thing to MAKE during hard times. It's easy to do and will keep drinking water potable (in the beer). Cave men made beer.

  • Third below me lol

  • Okay third below me lol

  • Guy below me people will have guns bats won't do much

  • Condoms and a lady friend. All the entertainment you will ever need.

  • Beer doesn't keep like hard liquor. Wines and hard liquor get better with time, beer just goes bad.

  • @reidmeyers Actually once bottled,alcohol stops maturing.

  • @NYGMENfan1 Fair enough, but beer goes bad and hard liquor does not is my point :P

  • @reidmeyers If most people saw my bar they would shit themselves with all the liquor i have.Plus beer doesn't taste as good.

  • First off Wal Mart will get locked down tight, I know I work there. So the first sign of trouble managment will have everyone that doesnt work there leave. Not to mention Those that work there arent just going to let you take stuff, that our shit thats why we work there. We'll have bats and other stuff defend the merchandise. Its ours you cant have it.

  • The other big problem with beer is it has a limited shelf life while hard will last forever.

  • Oh i forgot to mention sports equipment like like baseball and football etc..They fall under toys i guess though.I have high powered pellets guns that can be used for entertainment, defense, hunting and target practice without using expensive ammo. Not daisy's but walther, airforce, beeman etc.

  • Jeff doesn't have a worry in the world tons of food water weapons ALOT of frivolous things knifes books ect so Jeff the question to ask your self is ' what to do FIRST?' you already got everything needed

  • How I would prep printout thousands of porn pics and buy a fleshlight

  • liquor or spirits can be used for warmth (fire) and defense (Molotov cocktail).Adult magazines might also be a very nice barter item.I have some vintage and modern stuff.I also have model(The ones YOU put together) cars and boats for entertainment.

  • porn?

  • A deck of cards endless games to play... And think long and hard of where you stay how many people you have with you how much space you have why type of heating you have or how hot it gets and how and when will everything reestablish its self and in what kind of condition you will have a very long list of things you need it's a very scary thought when or of the world goes into a fall out

  • Weed man haha

  • a VCR is a must have to enjoy a good book

  • Condoms are actually a good idea for trade, I don't support nor suggest sex outside of marriage but thats a different story. Silver is good, alcohol, tobacco, EXTRA medical supplies for trade, tools, books, extra lighters/firesteel for trade, extra games for trade, clothes for kids that are still growing! extra blankets and pillows for anybody that needs to stay in your home, laundry detergent, toothpaste, and soap! (best to learn to make your own) TOILET PAPER!

  • Go To Walmart With A Friend, Have Him Steal The Guns While You Loot The Pharmacy.

  • @HaxAras EVERYONE will go to wal-mart. It will be the first place thousands and thousands of sheeple go. You think Black Friday is bad when people get trampled? Just wait till everyone is RAIDING wal-mart to stay alive!

  • @EchoGolfKilo Good Point, I Knew A Lot Of Stupid People Would Go To WalMart But I Didn't Compare To That Black Friday Shit.

But Those People Won't Last Long, Just Loot Their Corpses When They Die In A Week.

  • as i see it, post people my age would prep; beer, weed, condoms, beer, cool stuff, more beer.

  • @meuberepic Those people aren't the brightest crayons in the box. In fact they are probably in the range of old chewed on brown ones.

  • REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW GIVEAWAY JEFF!

  • "Oh my god, no internet" LMAO from the guy who cried like a bitch when his money grubbing channel got shut down.

  • this is very random but im looking into the gerber fire starter (Bear Grylls). Does anyone know anything about it and recommend it?

  • @XxMalwareRemoverXx Gerber is an alright company if your on a budget but just get a light my fire fire starter. They are extremely cheap and are very possibly the most trusted firesteel on Earth. They lack the whistle but I highly doubt that whistle is as good as you need. Look at Jetscream whistles, they are the best. If you need a waterproof container look at seanmulhall channel and search shotgun. There is only one video, or use an Altoids can!

  • learn how to brew beer and distill whisky, the stuff to distill can be found any where and knowledge doesn't weigh much, and prep chocolate, I like the hersey baking bars big cheap good fairly long shelf life and worth there weight in gold to women who like chocolate. Also knowing how to cook meth could come in handy but I don't think I'll make a video on it LOL.

  • You forgot lotion Jeff.... >.>

  • condoms people wouldn't want to have kids in caos so some people would want condoms also cross bow it a reusible wepon

  • If you happen to be someone who is addicted to nicotine, a good way to prepare for the absence of modern conveniences is to QUIT ASAP.

I don't think it's a good idea to barter drugs (including ethanol and nicotine) with addicts. If they've got it bad, they'll do anything to get a fix, and a good way to keep yourself and your family safe is to make sure they don't ever know that you have what they're looking for.

  • @docnightfall Yes, because I'll straight kill a motherfucker to get my Newport.

  • @docnightfall U have a point if some one needs it bad enough they might just put a bullet in your skull to get it or worse

  • and i always keep extra at home

  • a bag of redman gold blend, and a can of copenhagen wintergreen a day

  • you forgot a benchmade 51 and a fleshlight

  • im trying to start to do a little bit of prepping every day.

  • learn a new skill - juggling

  • Uhhhhh stop smoking duh

  • musical instument - book of song - moral boosting - busking?

  • and don't forget chocolate and silk stockings

  • or think of it as the best time to quit

  • I would buy a shitload of weed....

  • @TheAnonymousFTW im starting to save seeds, you should too!

  • @TheAnonymousFTW just grow for yourself

  • Tobacco...valuable. Booze...really valuable. Toilet paper...priceless

  • bed head shampoo

  • I don't think that people in 1870 had much down time. They did survive!

  • Basically Jeff is telling us to take advantage of people's habits and addictions for our own use when the world goes kaput. :P jk Jeff, great video!

  • buy up colt 45 :P best beer welfare can buy

  • Make time LEAP. Have sex.

  • buy a home brewing kit or a still if you yourself depend on alcohol, cheaper and renewable

  • This was great. awesome video, awesome points made, made me rethink all of my preping ideas.

  • Also as for prepping those things such as alcohol and tobacco I believe people should prep their own bodies for the different things that could happen, maybe quit smoking now, try to get along without the liquor, etc. I also love seeing the really big guys do run and guns, not that I have anything against big guys, used to be one myself, but its great knowing how to shoot on the fly and how to fight a gunfight, but if your body can't handle it than knowing how to do it doesn't matter

  • @cutlerylover what are your thoughts on Dipping?

  • What about a fleshlight and lube?

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.. pudding.

  • I don't like the word prepping...I prefer the term "common sense".

  • No internet? OMG, No CutleryLover! Where's the rope, hehe

  • Is everything ok Jeff??? this video was only 17 min long??? ;')

  • For some reason, I don't think as society is collapsing the only thing I could find to do is play clue, also for some other reason I doubt books board games, footballs, etc, will be in high demand if SHTF and society collapses. I can see the point to the DIY books, but in reality you'd be surprised what a person can do with a little ingenuity and OJT. I do how ever agree liquor and tobacco will be great bartering items, hell some of us are capable of producing our own alcohol

  • :*( no cigars

  • no internet?...people with addictive personalitys?...you should get yourself a sh*t ton of Porn Mags. youd have guys stealing food For you!

  • I don't know what I would do without fresh fruit...

  • Why is gold and silver good in shft? Ron Paul 2012.

  • Watchmen, an iPod, candy, soda, food, bottled water, a pipe, and some Ganga

  • @TravisTuchdown like th sounda dat bro

  • thats where the moonshine still the pot seeds and tobacco field up the road come in handy

  • You just got that pipe recently...Whered you get that big ass jar??

  • give away hoorah

  • Rember Hawkeys little Moonshine Still in M.A.S.H? it would be like the " give a man a fish/teach a man to fish" saying...but with Moonshine ~.^

  • You smoke now ?

  • I have to say the things I think would be best for entertainment purposes would be books as stated and music. I know that there are solar power mats you can get for a backpack and I would fill a 160Gb IPod Classic with music. Make sure to get some good headphones and a couple spares and that would be great to have. I have 77.6 GB of music right now and that comes out to almost 30 days worth.

  • Good job man

  • Prepping booze and tobacco, haha, sounds like prison essentials. Some of my family members need their prescription drugs but they don't care about prepping and it would break the bank for me to order their numerous drugs online from India. At least I got antibiotics ready. For fun, I'd prep fun size bags of candies/chocolates and condoms.

  • ONE WORD: Tampons. Talk about a nice bartering product ;)

  • But Jeff, all these things are "addictive"(kind of). Wont that make you a bigger target to looters who are desperate?

  • Soap. enough said.

  • maybe also coffee and soda pop

  • Sugar and Salt. Trust me, i lived through a war and those things were the most valuable. Also try and get rice and beans...bascially food that is non perishable and even items like alcohol and gasoline. kinda the obvious but still highly valuable and easily used for bartering, trading, and even use.

  • It also makes you a target Jeff for addicts.

  • No internet? That's why I download a LOT of YouTube videos. (No copyright material like TV shows or music videos.)

  • There was a Bosnian war survivor that did several forum posts echoing exactly what you said. Alcohol was very very valuable.

  • All you need is a flesh light and a shit ton of lube..
