  • Still sounds fresh and lively, the 2 dislikes obviously don't understand the works of the mighty Captain, considering the age of his music it still doesn't sound outdated!

  • I was 13 when heardt this album in 68..it shook up my musical perceptions a little bit!!....well a lot actually...never been the same since

    Jim

  • awesome

    STUNNING

    MAGIC

    BEAUTIF FUCKING FULL BABY !!!!!

  • rock your balls off!

  • every song ive looked up from god save the label has at leats 3 comments about god save the label or whoevers part it was who had the song.

thus, showing another reason god save the label was one of the greatest videos to happen.

  • fuck you fuck you

  • Another great Beefheart tune offa Safe as Milk. Wait until you hear the bass at about 1:40. Of course it's all good!

  • peter raffin!!! god save the label!

  • one question i dont know much about this awesome band except that they play some quality tunes, where can i get theat suit that the bloke on the right is wearing its awesome.

  • Salvation Army is probably a good place to start looking LOL J/K. Yeah Captain made some great music love his Trout Mask Replica album. Jerry Handley's Bass on this song is awesome!

  • @ sandBag'r

Trout Mask was not that great. Don had yielded to the temptation of commercial contract by then & had lost alot of that early innovative stuff that made the party happen

ZigZag was the serious deal. The whole first LP ("Safe as Milk") was like this. We denizens of the dusty desert resounded nightly with lofty lunar strains of ... "The Magic Band". This tune & Abba Zabba were ... "signature" ;-D

  • @sparkyization Trout Mask is so far out from just about anything anyone ever did, you either love it or hate it. I love dust blows forward, hair pie(bake 1), orange claw hammer, etc. But I fully understand how a lot of people hate that album.

  • I knew Don. I know he was jivin' on "Trout Mask"

  • @sparkyization you fucking idiot

  • Great tune indeed! As for the suit, get down to Camden stables market and visit A Dandy In Aspic which is owned by my good mate Caspar De La Mare - he does awesome vintage suits!

  • ahhh thats abit of a mission from where i am but it would be so woth it nice one mate your a star

  • Awesome bass at 1:30......

What a great song. I actually saw him at Tippitinas in New Orleans, 1978.....

  • This song is dig !!

  • These dudes were my homeTown band along with the Mothers of Invention. Cap'n an' Zappa were tight in those days and colluded on a bunch of projects

We were blessed to have such "eclectic" talent to bask in in those heady days of desert yore and the soaring sixties

We all got expelled from skool at one time or another! rofl!

  • Werent they doing some kind of military service together? They used to spend the entire time making tapes - is that right?

  • IT STILL ROCKS

  • such a good song.

i laughed, though, when i saw that the 'featured video' to the side is nazareth's 'hair of the dog,' a song that in no way compares to the beefheart's magic.

  • ah yeah... goddammit

  • this song is kicking ass

  • superb

  • That bass at 1:36

  • i know he had a totally shit hot band , he was no mug the Captain , he knew his onions man !!!!

  • @badboyrhythmdub one of my fav bass licks of all time.

  • nice song for 42 yrs ago this song rocks

  • ditto. seven months later

STILL a mondo "cutting edge" type tune ;-)

  • "Safe as milk" (winky thumbs-up smiley icon placed here)

  • Alex Snouffer, miss you, your son Michael

  • WOW!!

  • My favorite Beefheart song ever!

  • Mine too. Great dance tune

  • Mine too. You would have those early gigs at Exposition Hall. Suddenly our town was on the map. We had stolen some of the glory from Quartz Hill who gave us all Frank Zappa

It must have been "something in the waters" ;-D

  • Yeah. 1:36 is pretty much the most awesome sound ever recorded.

  • slightly come @1:36

  • Comment removed

  • YOU CANT BEAT THE CAPTAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best baSS LINe ever
