  • I love the serve at @2:00 and im Still trying to replicate that

  • Schlager you are very great and deserved dubbed his master table tennis. Value of 100 for Schleger.

  • 7:57 If there is anyone that can make Chinese table tennis coach facepalm himself, it is Werner Schlager.

  • wow...spin shot...i like

  • Schlager best player ever

  • i dont understand T___T i like Schlager! english version for this video pls

  • is there a version with english subtitles yet?

  • isn't it now illegal to toss the ball into you . The toss of the ball has to be vertical.

  • @hsundar

it's been illegal to toss non-vertical for a long time, it's simply not enforced.

  • nice video!!! Although it is in Japanese, it helps me alot to understand how to improve my serve ! thanks

  • Brilliant stuff!

  • Werner Schlager is such an amazing person and table tennis player. He is a legend and deserves many tributes...many.

Also, we must praise this wonderful nation Austria. Without them, he wouldn't be what he is today.

  • His service motion looks stiff yet fluid at the same time... Too bad I can't read Japanese nor can I understand a word he's saying...

  • Man, I love those high throws!

  • eh fost wie da baranovski ;-)

  • It was awesome!!!!

  • wa..imba.

  • umm

  • yeah good for you!

  • in english goddam it...please :D

  • hmm...nice serves..even better than waldner's

  • They LOOK nicer than Waldner's, and maybe even more spin than Waldner's, but Waldner's services are the best in terms of disguise.

  • i feel that one of the most important angles you have to cover in an informational video about serving is from behind. then the sideways movement is more clear and easier to see. from the front you don't see much as that is what the server intended. for you not to see what type of sidespin is on the ball.

  • werne schlager best in world!!!! AUSTRIA

  • Hi,it is nice, but not regular. You can´t slip over ball on you. Sorry, but you must throw the ball directly up. Marek Klasek

  • it doesnt have to be directly up. it has to be less than 45 degrees and sometimes schlager gets faulted but not often

  • I'm a noob, and this is good to hear! I practice my serve everyday for about an hour.

  • good to know. I was wondering recently about this rule because as far as I knew, the rules just say "nearly directly up".

  • very good

  • excepting the side/top-spin serve (as Wang Liqin's), Schlager has the most amazing serves in the world. Practice makes good! Just watch his matches against Samsonov, and compare their serves! Samsonov sucks! It's amazing, because he uses Bryce/Bryce, blade Schlager Carbon. Just try to imagine a Tackifire Special Soft on that impressive forehand!!!

  • werner schlager has the best serves in the world which is amazing becuz hes a shakehander. penhold is really good for serving

  • It may seem easy for beginners but it´s damn hard to return those serves. I already played vs many pro´s and had a hard time in retutning their serves. After some training I could get 80% back but i could not play really strong returns.

Practcie serves guys! Your serve is NEVER good enought.

  • is people skill dun say his paddle good,i bet he can own you with a wooden racket

  • austria ftw!

  • mal krow e ta

  • me gustan esos servicios......son los mejores

  • I like the serve at 2:17 most!

  • Terrific serve and instructional video. Now it would also be of benefit to find in you tube a good video to receive serve those kind of serve.

  • what they dont tell you is that his paddle costs like $ 150

  • ...and yet that paddle in lesser hands would be worth $0. BTW, these are sponsered professionals, their paddles could be worth $1000 and the player would never know it.

  • thats rubbish u can get an ok racquet for like 5 pounds and still serve gr8 its not the raquet its the player

  • that's it man....i think they're too noob at serving..so they think they should serve better with an expensive raquet.....-.-'

  • fantastic

  • wow!fantastic

  • thx

  • Ey gidi Ey Bi Hilmi Kutlu Bide lerzan Mutlu :D:D

  • This is one of the best videos.

I have been able to talk to Schlager in Vancouver, and he speeks English. He is playing with Schlager carbon and bryce.

Also he did win against Liging 2004 World Ch. in Paris, and he became world champion. In fifth set he was down 10-6 and he destroid Liging.

Check also Karakasevic and Lian Guoliang on youtube, and Ma Lin practising service.

  • Actually, it was 2003, but you're very right. I'm just nitpicking :D In that WTTC, Schlager was no less than a God.

  • Werner Schlager is next to Ma Lin, Waldner and Liu Guoliang the best of all servers. His serves are so nice to look at, almost like he had a coreograph or something. Splendid video to learn/check services

  • the spin is even more awesome, i bet if i tried to receive that serve the ball would fly arcross the romm i'd be playing in instead of back to the table

  • he throw the ball back!! haha

  • I still can't figure out how on earth he does the topspin version of his pendulum serve. I just can't tell the difference between backspin, sidespin, and topsin. Absolutely amazing given that they show all three from two angles and in slow motion. I must be blind or something.

  • there's barely any top spin on it. The point is to disguise it as backspin. If you think the serve is backspin, any slight topspin will cause you to pop the ball up

  • You have to think about the motion really. Picture in you head the direction in which the ball is traveling, topspin is from top to bottom. Backspin bottom to top etc. Pendulum comes from behind the ballin a swinging motion. All he has to do is adjust the racket angle so it's almost perpendicular and pull up slightly on the back of the ball. Adjusting the racket angle and varying the actual trajectory of the racket will change it to corkscrew, sidepsin and their topspin and underspin variants.

  • SOLO UNA PAROLA:

    BRAVISSIMO!!!!!!

  • Muito bom

  • cool !

  • this isthe most useful service training video i've found yet on youtube! (now I just need to learn how to speak japanese and german)

  • incredibile! how he can get ball with so many effet in just these short moves

  • I love this man.

  • yea yea . he is so concentrated to the ball , most no.1 favorite players in professional plays in channel ESPN hehehe

  • His serves look so natural and unhurried. It's crazy.

  • Nerden buldun olum bunları supermis walla...

forumistan . net benim site gelirsin ;)

  • good serve. I add it to my favorite

  • Very nice video. For those who are interested, check out my videos for some of Schlager's matches so you can see how he uses his various serves.

  • yes, I checked out and subscribed your videos. Thanks

  • good point frank. but i have to agree that timo's serve game is not very good for a pro, his serves are very basic. but this doesnt really affect timo as his game is based more on rallying and basic skills, not unlike kong linghui

  • nickmil...you are aware that Timo Boll has a winning record vs Wang Liqin? hardly qualifies as "raping."

  • very true

  • great video encralis!

  • mmmm...nah...as someone put it boll is good but his game is to simple...that is why he can never beat wang liqin. Wang is all business and very technical. He rapes boll ova and ova again and again. Guys like maze schlag and samsonov do better agains tthe chinese cuz their games are so complex.

    p.s

if we dint have china there would be number one players

if we dodnt have europe tabletennis would be boring

  • mmmm..

    Timo Boll Is better!

  • dude...he has the best fuckin tachnigue i haver seen on the serve.

  • o.o

  • very good serve
