  • This is all awesome! And don't I spot a vintage 259 in there too? I just got my eye on the 222e and didn't think that much of the rings until I saw this. I had heard they are more or less a bit gimmicky. But this looks cool and I like how far from the synth you can use them.

  • @7thDanSound Thanks! They are as useful as they are gimmicky IMO. You can get about 5 or 6 feet away from the window on the module and they still work. There is a 259 in there , but I don't believe it's in this patch. Thank you for watching.

  • @hyperguy61 Thanks for your reply! Looks like I'll be able to judge for myself pretty soon :)

  • So this is like 6 pieces together right? Now that I have the money to afford stuff like this, I'm considering some Buchla gear, but I'm a little lost on how it all interfaces or what components are necessary because I see that there are different units that do different things (waveform generators, filters, envelopes, etc.).

  • those are beautiful crappy weird noises!

  • Excellent! Extremely trippy...

  • thats cool, conroling music with a gesture!

  • i was fapping then i got linked to this

  • aww man they are so awsome

  • each time i see buchla work it's always crapy weird noises. i admit it looks cool design and great technology but for what is the most expensive synth on earth ...is it possible to do something ... different ? :|

  • just because they sound "crappy" to you , doesnt mean they sound crappy to others. I love the sound of Don Buchla's instruments.

  • @moreausylvain geh kacken!

  • Very cool!

  • The alien gamelan filled his head drowning out his screams.

    Good post.

  • This is too cool!

I would never get another thing done if I owned that system :-)

So is it still a 'noodle' if you're not touching any knobs though???

  • pure win!

  • so whats on your finger and how is it being tracked. camera, accelerometers, theremin style etc... looks like its got a transmitter built in. I can see the led blinking when you move.

  • On my finger is one of two "rings" that come with the 222e module. The module consists of the touch control surface on the bottom row of the system on the right and the second module from the left in the top row of the same system. You can see the little square window in that module. I believe it works by triangulation. The blinking led shows the ring is fully charged. It can track in 3 dimensions and there is a switch on each ring for a pulse too!

  • you know what would be really innovative? mapping this functionality to a knob or a joystick.

  • in this simple example , the up-down is mapped to a knob. The knob that controls the mix of the red and green tables on the 259e.

  • DEAR GOD, EXCELLENT!

  • thank you :)

  • You have become my god.

If I dump a few questions onto you, would you answer them? (Give me time to think some up haha).

  • Ask away :) i am completely and totally addicted to all things buchla and love talking about it and sharing whatever knowledge i have about it . Think up some good ones ;)

  • I'll think it up and inbox you :)

  • Nice !

  • if i were you id be running around the room at full speed with that ring on my finger, you gotta get crazy with is or els its already been heard before.

  • Sweet setup

  • Agreed, more please!!!

  • More, More !
