  • i like the baby too!

  • a $20 circurlar lock pick requires absolutely no skill, and works on all locks of that type.

  • I have the orange one with the strange shaped flat key, not that its any use now though. Spent £600 on my bike and had it for 6 weeks, used it to get to uni and back. They couldn't break my lock so they stripped everything off the bike right down to the frame! And just to be a bunch of cunts they jumped on the frame and bent the back forks so I couldn't rebuild it.

Bike theft is fucking horrible, I wanted to kill someone so badly!

  • my lock weights more than my bike LOLOLOLOLOL

  • It is real but after about 2005 they redesigned them. All the same, Kryptonite's lost its rep for decades now. Try Abus.

  • Is this real!? If it were that easy surely everyone would lose thier bikes. I use a decent Kryptonite D and a lesser chain and haven't ever had a bike stolen in 10 years of cycling in London!

  • @gregapage It was true, yes, although they've sorted it out now.

  • I decided to keep my New York Lock and Chain, I thought it was kind of fun I could pick it with the Bic pen. Nice conversation piece. Kudos to Ingersoll Rand for backing up their battered locksmith company and the way this was resolved. A lesser parent would have meant end of story.

  • No matter what lock/s u use a determined thief can get through them. the best thing u can do is to try and slow them down

  • Funny it's so easy to equip a bike with lowjack and set up a few stings in the city to send the message out. That was done in LA with good results but I guess the Police is busy catching terrorists and anti-Wall street demonstrators.

  • I take the bus next time:-D

  • did the design engineer and manager that approved that lock got fired from their job at Kryptonite?

  • Just bought a kryptonite lock with the flat key, try hacking that pen fags!

  • Its a shame that the human species has become so attatched to material possessions, that's why when natural disasters occur 90% of people curl up and die due not knowing how to improvise by living off the land and strong reliance on man made items.

  • @No1Richman I think you should give me your bike. =0)

  • [approxiquote] "Having your bike stolen is one of the worst feelings in the world" ... What? I'm stunned by the amount of ignorance in that phrase.

  • or you dont buy a fucking cylinder lock. My kryptonite is a key lock, not a cylinder.

  • @RareBrink A cylinder lock is what would go on a door. I didn't see exactly what kind of lock they were talking about but it looked like a tubular lock. Locks with keys are great the only problem is that if someone wanted to they could pick it very easily. I have only been picking locks for about a month now and bike locks are very easy. A lock is more of a piece of metal that gets in the way but it wont stop the person just make taking the bike take 1 minute longer.

  • Worst feeling to get your bike stolen? damn sounds strange to me.

  • OMG! She made that look easy.

  • I take my bike in the house, and probably ask my Manager if I can place the bike inside the building while I'm working

    .

  • In tears because their friend picked their lock!? WTF?? You have got to be fucking

kidding me. Absolute pussies.. Stop crying and go buy a new lock you snivelling fucktards!

  • I'm not the one for paying $160.00 for a lock that can be pried off with a pen. I'll just take it in the house, don't care how many stairs.

  • 1:40 look at her shirt: "urine cyst"

  • lol @ "everyone who has ridden a bike for more than ten years knows what it feels like"

not really dude, I take my bike in with me everywhere, and have never had one stolen. shop won't let you bring it in, find a new shop.

  • @illacorp Try living in the city centre

  • @skirmisheruk I live downtown. I do live in the city center.

  • im not happy with lesbian looking women knowing more then me about picking locks :(

  • @zeppirl wtf?

  • @blickblocks wft wft?. i like lesbians whats the problem?. who doesnt like lesbians?. its just if i have one in handcuffs i dont want her to be able to unlock it ?

  • So turns out kryptonite's kryponite is a bic pen, awesome.

  • @nickwales1978 this is a model from 5 years ago.... the current years models have no problems....

    do your research?

  • kryptonite? more like kraptonite

  • I wonder how many people steal bic pens to steal bikes... Shady.

  • I can't help but wonder: how could a company that is supposed to be specializing in locking mechanisms (some of which are reallty expensive) and is considered one of the best on the area by the wide public, allow something so obviously broken in production?

Even if the specific flaw applied on an older model of some low-end product (which I don't know), I could never trust that those very same engineers haven't missed less obvious flaws in any other of the products they designed.

  • @yt64gr dude they recalled it years ago and fixed them all, you used to be able to tap a few of them with a hammer in a single spot and theyd pop open, shit happens, people have tried to fuck around with the new ones and they cant...... kryptonite is still in business offering cash insurance if someone can steal your bike....

  • looks like the Bic pen is the Lock's kryptonite

  • I do not have any criminal history but if I ever caught someone stealing my bike I have no issue with ripping out their eyes and laughing out loud while doing it.

  • sounds like she knows what shes doing

  • i have a Norco bike U-bolt bike lock that has a round key like that.... is it the same weakness?

  • ooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyy gooooooooooooddddddddddd what's up with that hair cut???? wow...

  • My bike just got stolen......kryptonite lock is trash

  • haha i think her lack of enthusiasm on opening the lock is due to her working at the shop that sells the locks... however i do greatly appreciate her sharing that with the world anyways, this shop must have great customer service

  • Thanks for showing criminals how to steal things

  • @mikefloyd1 - You should realize that they're demonstrating that the problem was a REAL problem and not some manufactured hype... Yeah, it sucks that someone can learn from their demonstration, but they weren't the first to post this particular method for opening bike locks of this type.

  • @mikefloyd1 No, thanks for unveiling a significant security flaw.

  • 2 locks lol I personally use 5 locks for standard.

  • Yes,it's a round key.

I have already sent an email to kryptonite ... I'm waiting for a response. Thanks

  • @comedymy1name : ahhhhhh! Shit!!! I've bought today one of Trek by Kryptonite....

What should I do now? The Kryptonite will replace it?

    I'm from Italy

  • @RollerRoy yo you need to hop of that racist shit. You think your so fucking tough don't you? You know that saying "you can talk the talk but you can't walk the walk"? Well that's you now shut up. I don't like racist shit. And obviously trying to use the whole "oh nope that was all wrong" approach doesn't work if your older than 4 years old. Hop off his dick douchebag.

  • i like the baby

  • So from the no. 1 in thefts which is Dublin, Ireland, I was recommended the best lock ever: NONE. Don't take any lock, as it's pointless. Take your bike with you into shops, restaurants, to the reception, etc. If you can't, don't go there. My third bike was stolen (big chain - Kryptonite was temporarily out of order) by knackers for some drugs, to get stoned for a short while, just like many politicians, lawyers, bankers, even students and kids... I feel great with a bike.

  • So, from the no. 2 or 1 which is Dublin, Ireland, I was recommended the best lock ever is: NONE. Don't buy any lock and just take the bike with you into the restaurant, into the shop to the reception and so on. If you can't, don't go by bike. My third bike is gone now within 2 years for knackers who could get stoned for a few hours.. Nice planet. Drugs are loved and therefore given a good reputation by politicians, lawyers, bankers, priests and even students and kids.. - I love my bike.

  • This is a 2004 lock with tubular barrel. All new Kryponite lock are not like this.

  • Evry strenght has its weaknes :)

  • Great I was about to buy that lock

  • OMG Thankyou !!!

Theres this nice looking bike I always see near the train station with one of these,

And I could do with a new bike.

  • Just get a fucken car.

  • @RockyShitNigga u should be a dumb fat american.

  • @RollerRoy You should make some sense in your sentence you punk. You must be some starving ass afghnistan kid who can't afford a piece of bread everyday, fuck off toddler.

  • @RockyShitNigga And also negro :) haha Sorry ur wrong in all u said, apparently im not.

  • I got a Kryptonite Evolution. Had a few dudes have a crack at it and they could not get it open. The newer one though with the normal shaped key not the round ones here. A big fuck up by he usually sound Kryptonite team.

  • 2:20

    is that a scottish korean?

    thats a contradiction.

  • @eazyduzitjacob that isnae a funny comment lad

  • feels like shit in your mouth! they stole my bike today! good bike fix gear and bike riding in l.a!

  • all kryptonite locks can be picked. perfect security is a lie. if someone really wants to beat it then they will and you're an idiot if you rely on a toy to save your toys.

worst comes to worst you break it with chemicals

  • Lmao this is in toronto ... john and queen street ahaaha

  • wow! credit given where credit due! whoever was the person that discovered the bic method would be better suited working for nasa then making a living stealing bikes. now THATS ingenuity. don't hate the thief hate the lock.

  • Kryptonite changed there locks only old kryptonite locks can be unlocked with a bic.

  • I dont know the names of old models. But the models affected will have keys which look like hollow cyclinders.

    very low-tech.

  • what dya knowww.. ha, shit i have that lock.

  • Kryptonite is a fictional element

  • Kryptonite and Onguard dont use that kind of key anymore. and for the record, i opened my old Kryptonite NY ulock with a Bic pen after a couple tries

  • To the genius naysayers, you are wrong. It's 2010 and this was useful, BECAUSE I have the old lock. Some folks get out of the bike habit for a few years and reseume to learn they misplaced keys. Thanks for keeping this online. The End.

  • did she prove herslf wrong?

  • Kryptonite Lock's Kryptonite is a Bic pen.

  • Kryptonite no longer sells these locks. They replaced them ***ALL*** with regular key locks, not the round locks displayed in the video. This video should be posted with a disclaimer that this no longer applies to new Krptonite locks. In fact the video is a couple years old.

Again - old video, no longer applies, and Krpytonite went to the trouble of replacing EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMERS locks that had the old version depicted in this video.

  • @macroinnovation Kryptonite replaced only 400,000 locks worldwide in a program that lasted little more than a year. Kryptonite did not go to "the trouble of replacing EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMERS locks that had the old version". You're full of shit, asshole... just another sheep.

  • @MikesFitnessGoals I asked them about that, they said that if the people dont get into contact with them, how are they supposed to offer service? those people that didnt get their lock fixed didnt contact customer service and complain so they didnt get anything..... make sense?

I dont work for them but really now.... if you arent one of their customers you cant just bash them like that

  • @Taud I have one of their locks I purchased and haven't used it in years, so I am one of their customers. Their new locks are being picked on You Tube - see wizzwazzle and others. I don't understand why some people seem to have such brand loyalty for products that sell because of effective marketing campaigns yet are clearly not the best choice for bike security. Why would this clown above blindly shill for that company and make asinine such claims? "every single.. lock" Ooo, caps lock!

  • Comment removed

  • @MikesFitnessGoals u havent used it in years? so its the older lock model LOL dude are you serious? that wizzwazzle user is picking locks from like 5 years ago and those arent the top of the line from 5 years ago either, he doesnt even have the new models.

No, im not loyal to any brand especially not some american company, im talking about the high end U locks and chain locks that have theft protection from this year..... youre complaining about locks from like 5 years ago man....

  • @Taud i'm commenting on the blind allegiance of macro to a company who made million$ on useless locks and when asked for a replacement after their 15 month return program expired responds with, "We don't replace those locks anymore. That program ended."

You claimed you "..asked them about that... if the people dont get into contact with them, how are they supposed to offer service?" More BS. What did "they" say when you asked if you could replace one of those locks? ... thought so.

  • @MikesFitnessGoals Yes, they did say that to me and no i wont ask them to replace a lock from 5 years ago that i didnt even own thats really your problem if you didnt contact them within that time... I'm talking about the new locks for this year not being so easily picked, once again, youre talking about a lock from years ago, im experiencing the brand new product from this year and having no problem with them, who knows maybe in time my lock will be picked with a bic too....

  • @Taud Thank you for making my point. It is my problem because I bought the lock and when I did ask them five years ago they had stopped exchanging their faulty locks. Get it? If you owned one of those locks and asked for a replacement any time after "within their time" it would have been your problem too. You claim you "didn't even own" one of those locks. Then what the hell are you doing in this thread? Troll somebody else, asshole.

  • @MikesFitnessGoals okay first of all im not "trolling" thats such a lame internet chat room term and because youre still complaining about a faulty lock from 5 years ago I'M an asshole? thats just rich, I'm a new customer whos had no problems what so ever, so when i read your complaints, I felt like informing you its been 5 years and they fixed the problem, you even said it yourself, you didnt apply for a refund within the time period they gave the public access to is that correct?

  • @MikesFitnessGoals Mike - if you didn't take advantage of the recall to get your lock replaced, that's on YOU, not on Kryptonite. Don't be a stupid ass.

  • kryptonite is fucked!

  • Woah, sweet Rhoades Car in the ad on the right!

  • They aught to use reactive armour. If you dont know what it is, look it up, it was first used by the russians in tank armour.

  • This lady is smart! If thieves didn't know how to do it, now they do. Thank you king lady.

  • My goodness, there i was thinking the New York FAHGETTABOUTIT was the ultimate bike lock. I was wrong, thanks for this. I do hope Kryptonite can find a solution to this problem.

  • @JaSeY963 New York Fahgettaboudit® U-lock cant be picked this way. Actually i havent found anything about someone breaking it easy other than use heavy duty tools.

  • Kryptonite can kill superman but not very good vs a pen....

  • Wait i have to use two locks to protect what the one your locks was suposed to?

  • Comment removed

  • Not old news to me !!!!

I just found out about this issue and I've been using a U-bolt NewYork lock with the cylindrical key that I bought 8 years ago. I was totally unaware of its vulnerability. DO NOT TAKE THIS VIDEO DOWN. THERE MAY BE OTHERS STILL IN THE DARK.

The question now is, will Kryptonite exchange my lock 6 years after the big exchange program that occurred in 2004 ?

  • @hrprada No they won´t. At least in Europe. I checked it out a few years ago because I have an old lock too.

  • is that a dude ?

  • air cans work way better and it is full prof with almost any lock

  • big LOL !!!!!!!!! shame for company !!!!!!!!

  • @ironidem This vid is OLD. Problem fixed a long time ago.

  • Kryptonite - is Superman a notorious bike thief then?

  • Nice!

  • we should make a LAW in USA that forbids bike stealing!!111!

  • @MaikUniversum There is... it's called "theft" and it is illegal. -_-

  • @ScaryManLikesCereal but this law doesn't protect bikes!!! Laws are supposed to protect stuff!!! We should invent new laws.

  • @MaikUniversum Well, true...

  • the Bic trick does work with round keys, i tired it on my old $80 Kryptonite NY ulock and it work

but this wont work on the new Kryptonite and OnGuard ulocks because they dont use the round keys anymore, they use these fancy flat keys.

  • Why sell them then?

    FAIL!

  • why the fuck do you have them for sale then??

  • @HardeyLeone its been fixed.Krypto recalled and replaced all defective locks. The new keyways are flat, antipick disc locks.

  • @htdtr and bloody good too, even for the £25 model (which is by the far the most commonly used lock on campus).

  • @htdtr where there's a will.... there's a fuckin way.

    don't trust it 100%

  • @htdtr

If you didn't do it right away then they won't replace it. My wife didn't get hers in right away and WILL NOT replace it now. I asked and they refuse to replace it.

They knew that the locks could be fixed and they didn't do a damn thing about it until the news found out before they did anythign about it. Now that it has died down they don't care any more

I'd never buy ANYTHING from Kryptonite. They are not trustworthy.

It's only a matter of time before they do it again.

  • Now what?

  • it's filmed in toronto. that bike shop is near queen and spadina

  • the baby at 2:12 is funny

    touchin ever thing hahaha

  • i find a good bike in the trash with one of these things like it on it and they threw it out because they lost the key i just take a car jack to them it just brakes it

  • @fennel456 america FYI.

  • damn that took her long to open that lock ..rookie

  • in which country is that filmed? anybody knows??

  • just ride a pece of shit bike that no buddy is interested in steeling it you stuppind people spend 2 grand on a bike its better yoused of the 150 buck walmart bikes i rather be out of 150 bucks then 2000 grand

  • after attempting to read your comment I'm really going to have to debate who is "stuppind"

  • @vivitar45 People steal bikes reguardless.

  • Can't easily pick mine, homemade ulock with medeco cylinder.

  • my bathroom door can be unlocked with with cartridge from one of those cheapy pens

  • Its still easier to steal a Chrysler

  • thats not realy a bad thing i mean people at schools are dumb and if u lose your key whip out a bic pen

  • Great video but depressing. I just bought a port runner folding bike and I'd like to know how to lock it up so I don't lose my investment. Is there a lock/chain combo that I can use to make it less likely to be stolen? With much appreciation, Laurie

  • I tried with several different K-Locks with bic pens. I opened them all in less then 5 secs. She is not doing it right.

  • it wasn't all locks, nor even all Kbrand locks, nor even Kbrand locks where the bic pen fit. Some of the K-locks with pin coding in the lower registry numbers could be manipulated, a few incredibly easy. Had to do with the coding of the pins, if all were of shallow depth it was was doable. Locksmiths have known of the vulnerability of cylinder locks for years, if you buy one just look at the key's cut- if the depths of grooves are vastly varying no plastic tube, bic pen or not, will defeat it.

  • definitely old news. video should be removed. their locks are different now. I got one a few months ago. great lock. Kryptonite is the best!

  • So what? Michael Jackson's dead and there are still a lot of videos of him around. You can't delete old news on the only basis of reasoning that it is old.

  • So that makes it OK?

  • 2:24 lol look at the kid!

  • great now I'm gonna try removing the kryptonite lock some bitch put on my bike frame >:[

  • they fixed this problem now. and kryptonite have replaced the one locks free of charge

  • You clearly ride a huffy.

  • your slut of a mother, you dufuss

  • are you shitting me. WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE. THAT SHALL NOT STEAL YOU BLACK ASSHOLES!

  • she wasnt even trying in the begining

  • My New York Lock and Chain (motorcycle lock) opened just as easily. But Kryptonite should still have credit. They launched a massive global return program, all freight costs paid so all who responded got their product replaced. If they hadn't been owned by huge Ingersoll-Rand it would have meant bankrupcy.

  • aboot

  • Did Kripto..e ever remedy/fix this issue?

  • Ok I found out they fixed it. But my confidence with them is down the drain. I'll have to look into german ABUS.

  • they said they did in 2006 supposebly

  • Wow! 160 dollar chain and got owned by a 25cent pen!?

  • In about 8 seconds.

  • any bike lock you can find CAN be picked... that's reality.

  • Any bike lock can be picked.. that's true. But only the best ones can be picked with a Bic.

  • @eightylaysdotcom well it's their own fault for not making it harder to pick in the first place.

kinda like how i can't just jam a screwdriver into the ignition of a new car

  • Look at the baby 2:12

  • i hope this is an old vid cuz that big ass gold link chain being picked so easily and costing like 100 bucs would be such a waste

  • This means that my mother could open this Kryptonite 200$ lock in 40 sec ...

    Kryptonite, you SERIOUSLY suck ...

I hope that some boss are watching those clips and fire their totally worthless engineers.

Fuck. I mean, seriously. A smily 45 years old mom open your "top of the line" lock in less than a minute.

Sell all your shares and shut this whole compagny off. A find another job.

How many years in research and developpement for this lock ?

    Ridiculous. Just quit.

  • And plz dont give me the line: "The new locks are better now". I just DONT GIVE A SHIT about what a prick compagny like Kryptonite, that was stupid enough to sell a 200$ lock that a 5 years old can open in 50 seconds, now claim about the safety of their junk.

Im seriously pissed off. 200$ for this lock.

    Fuck You Kryptonite.

  • This "smily 45 years old mom" is a local bike dealer at Toronto and a former bicycle courier and first woman in 2008 Cycle Messenger World Championships (CMWC).

But your mother could also do this. ;)

  • just use a heavy duty chain and a huge lock hah

  • Where are these folk?

  • Downtown Toronto. By the city tv building, just off of queen st. west

  • Yeah the new locks are fine. The key's completely different, rather than a round vending machine style lock that could be picked, the new lock goes deep into the body of the lock.

  • this kind of sucks.

I was just thinking of buying a New York Chain® , or the New York Fahgettaboudit®. I wonder of the new ones still have that problem. It's pathetic to think that a chain that can withhold such thief attacks can be picked so easily.

  • The new locks don't have that problem. Just make sure it's not a 'round' key...

  • anyone else here because of 'burn after reading'

  • i heard about this back in 2004 but I burst out laughing when Brad Pitt said it.

  • I just had my R6 Stolen in Florida.

I was down for Daytona Bike Week.

I only had my fork lock, nothing else.

Regardless of this "trick" I will buy kryptonite.

  • cute baby

  • I wonder who figured this out... Very clever thief, I guess, or someone with way too much time on his/her hands.
