  • FUCKING MAGNETS HOW DO THEY WORK?

  • What does a magnet and screws have to do with gravity. I don't get the correlation. Please explain. Magnets and gravity are two different things.

  • i just want to cu the strings.

  • OMG He's the antichrist!!

  • where can i pay an magnet as that ?

  • Not inspiring. You can do this with even weaker magnets. has nothing to do with gravity, just magnetic attraction of ferrous metals.

  • @UnderManiac ...Without gravity magnets wouldn't exist... lol wow.

  • @Morneisia ??? I don't get it. However, you are correct to a point.

I suspect you are unaware of what gravity actually is. It has nothing to do with magnetism or electricity. Nor does magnetism or electricity have anything to do with gravity. Yes, gravity made it possible for materials to come together to form the stars, planets, moons, etc.

  • @UnderManlac Lol what I mean is that no one would exist without gravity, therefor magnets would not be discovered, nor exist. I was being a smartass, basically xD

  • @Morneisia That really wasn't smart. I think you meant you were just being an ass.

Please explain to me magnetism Captain Intelligence. For I do not believe you grasp the concept nor the understanding.

  • @FallenPhox I meant what I meant. The creation of magnets, as well as the discovery of magnets would never come to, had gravity not existed. No one would be alive to study, or comprehend anything about laws of science, had gravity not been present. And yes, I was being an ass, thank you for stating the obvious.

  • @Morneisia *Literally laughing myself to death* You sir are a complete idiot. Be quiet now. Don't expect a reply, because I genuinely don't have the patience or believe you have the intelligence for a decent slagging match over the internet.

  • @FallenPhox If you honestly didn't have the patience, then you wouldn't have commented in the first place. Basically, this little folly here is a waste of time. I wouldn't be calling me an idiot, when you still lack proper use of a comma, and instead, start abrupt sentences for no apparent reason. If you were truly someone of decent intelligence than you also would have known that Internet needs a capital as well. Don't call someone out on stupidity, when you yourself lack grammar.

  • every1 thumbs down terribke vid

  • screws gets seixures?

  • So, who is going to invent the nylon muscle, a plastic muscle that expands and contracts with direct current,?

  • thats not floating! i can see the strings :P

  • lol

  • there is not gravity screwed...... its just pulling... dude put the tittles right freaking ass

  • I like the part where the metal is attracted to the magnet.

  • That magnet must be a super model

  • i like the part when the screws were being attracted to the magnet

  • @MetalDominican dude ur killing me with that.. xDDD

  • eso es una cucaracha?

  • 'grass grows, sun shines, birds fly and broddah i hurt people' a quote from the scout

  • its more like the srews are being pulled toward the magnet and the fishing string is the only thing holding it from hitting the magnet but a if this is to be made into art then hell yea I would want to see it

  • Fail. No levitation here just pulling screws on strings while the strings hold the screws back.

  • Neodymium smoke. Don't breathe this!

  • Screws have parkinson's disease :(

  • the question is, Will it blend?

  • @facecrawl

It will blend, but the true question is....

Is it resistant to Chuck Norris?

  • @Yezpahr Yes it is resistant to Chuck Norris. But the true question is will it explode?

  • do you think you could ask the artist on where we could see his work?

    It sounds marvellous.

  • i feel like im being pulled just by watching it

  • so if you put two magnets a certain distance away from each other could you make a screw "float" between them?

  • @alpha819 no because magnetic fields are circular, forcing the object to move in a certain outwards direction. think of river current.

  • ya the strings rnt noticable

  • Wow! I've never seen such intelligent man. Haha. What a bullshit!

  • How is it still loading?

  • gravity's getting SCREWED alright

  • hmm very interesting aybe next time hide the rope?

  • cool

  • Screw that.

  • so whats stronger? a neo or a earth magnet?

  • @TheDraindeimo "rare earth" is just a nickname for the neodymium-iron-boron magnet because the main ingredient is neodymium, a lanthanide rare earth metal...

    so...

the answer to your question is yes...

  • I used to do this with 2 magnets as a child. I would set traps with trip wires held together by magnets with an air gap between them... could never figure out a practical application but now i'm thinking...

  • ??? Nothing is floating here.

    Call it pulling, not floating.

  • the magnet pulls the string holds end of story

  • i wonder if that artist ever came through

  • arent u just holding the screws by the fishing line? and have the magnet pull em towards it? Or i dont get something...

  • Interesting, I never mentioned levitation anywhere:-)

  • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE float and levitation r the same thing idiot

  • ???

  • So...

  • sorry but thats not genuine levitation, if you cut the line, it hits the magnet, see this video, theres genuine levitation: 2hHfkK4iGBQ , thats the code to put after the (equal) sign on youtube

  • What do you mean by "Genuine" levitation? The thing balancing out the force of the magnet+gravity on the screws is the force of tension on the string. If you replace the force of tension on the string with another magnet, that would require careful calibration, but in essence it would be similar.

  • i mean that you have to make a magnetic field with a particular shape (circle), then you put a magnet and it keeps floating on the air without line or something, that genuine levitation, see the vid

  • thoe magnets r about to get screwed

  • lol

  • @phiphers just plain awesome xD

    they sure are~

  • @phiphers I love you

  • lol, that was pretty good as far as youtube comments go

  • screwweqe

  • Lame, I once did the same with two magnets (very weak ones). The difference was that the (two) strings were attached to the ground. I made the bottom magnet repel the top one in such away that the strings would hold it.

  • What qualifies as quote "better shit to do"?

  • use your imagination. if you have one.

  • The real scientific fact is that we will all die, have cotton shoved up our anuses, and be JUDGED

  • people watching this and going like idiot its not floating it specificly says fishing line in the name

  • You are incredibly stupid.

Don't talk about "ancient physics" when you don't even have an understanding of modern physics.

  • Idiot.

  • I agree ufo technologies is very low tech low cost for up keep..easy to build once you know the geomitry. why do you think they have kept us stupid on macnetic fields foe energy? It to easy.... Just like a puzzle....when the energy field fit the thing flys.. steering is the hard part...HUH

  • are you retarded?

  • Yeah..I`m retarted....but I like technologies

  • Ahh, gotta love people on YouTube who have absolutely zero scientific education.

  • Ahh,you got to love people on youtube who can`t open their mind to a much bigger picture everything is only 3-Dphyical in your mind As for me I see the world as multi dimensional energy`s My dreams/ astral travels at night Just might be my UFO.. Think about that...?

  • Comment removed

  • ... wow.

Seriously, you should be in a mental institution somewhere. You are truly insane.

Please, get some psychiatric help, and then take a science class.

  • Let me wake you up my friend..

You body is the home/ planet, ( so to speak ) for billions of inteligent microbs...whom live and eat on our flesh...daily.. this is science fact...ASK any scientist in microbiology. Now who need to go to a shrink...LOL

  • Are you on crack?

  • A great statment was made by a great man...He said as for now the time is your but as for the future it is mine....Who said this? Mr. Tesla.. He has his future and the men of his day are proof of the mear ignorants of those past day.

Is it that there is no differents today?

  • I have no clue what you're saying. You need to work on that English.

  • there is no difference. but YOU are not a great man, my idiotic astral planing friend.

  • biology is for queers and women. learn to physics. or thermodynamics.

  • yes... learn to physics.

at least you spelled it right.

  • yes. at least i spelled it CORRECTLY.

not only is my grammar and spelling pretty good, i'm not too bad at science/engineering either.

maybe that's because i spend more time reading textbooks rather than spending my time PROOFREADING the youtube comments sections for spelling errors.

  • figure this out- 061061061060064060061066064061065060061065061061065066061065063060064060061067061061065067061066065060064060061064061061066062061064065060064060061064061061065064061065064060064060061066064061064061061065064061065063

  • why bother? i'm currently writing a paper on the Fast Fourier Transform function for Matlab programming language. your little number stream is irrelevant in every way.

seriously. why bother? i have better shit to do.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, like carrying out an argument on YouTube.

  • you started it dickhole.

by the way, "redneck" is purely an American occurence.

Just like a lack a geographical knowledge.

that MATLAB comment shut you up though didn't it?

now you know what youre dealing with, you should just get back to your silly little numbers and cxarry on pretending that you are a "geek".

you're not a geek, your just a nerd (geeks get things done).

  • alright smart-ass i'll shut up if you can tell me what Imatinib is. And I know what the Wikipedia answer is, so don't even try.

  • ok, smartass.

firstly, i'm sure you are familiar with the term "peer-reviewed", and the phrase "academic reference". wikipedia meets NONE of those criterea. if you were REMOTELY academic, you would realise this. is wikipedia the best you can do?

secondly, why would an aeronautical engineer give a fuck about some shit you found on wikipedia?

    )

  • by the way, faggot, thats a HIGHER level computing language.

enjoy your faggy little numbers HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!

  • ANYONE can take a stream of numbers from their OWN chosen subject, and look intelligent.

    ever wondered how to convert a control system transfer function to a state space equation? n=[1 1];

    d=[1 1 10];

    [A,B,C,D]=tf2ss(n,d);

    sys=ss(tf(n,d));

    A

    A = -1 -10 1 0

    sys.a

    ans = -1 -5 2 0

thats how. im sure that you are aware of matrix multiplication (or are you more a vector type of guy? i would guess so from your LINEAR number system).lol, noob.

  • yes... learn to physics.

At least you spelled it right.

  • i should just point out that matlab is a scientific language. in case you missed the point. maybe you should shut up and just carry on proofreading for people.

  • just saying... you sound like a redneck ... "learn to physics". say that out loud to yourself and see if it sounds right or should i say "write"

  • asking me what "Imatinib" means, is like when you asked me what that stream of numbers meant. meaningful ONLY TO YOURSELF.

ANYONE can search on wikipedia and claim to be smart.

let me see you explain organic chemistry WITHOUT wikipedia, you sad little boy.

p.s im an aeronautical systems engineer, not pharmacologist.

which means i am great at the following subjects: maths, DSP, electronics, thermodynamics, continuum mechanics, avionics,MATLAB,propulsion, classical physics,ETC ETC.

  • seriously noob.

tell me what your chosen subject is, and we'll talk about it. that is if you're not just picking random shit off wikipedia and trying to look smart. like i said, im no pharmacologist, but i know enough about thermochemistry, and organic chemistry to shut you the fuck up.

  • alright, you win... let's talk about Medicine. What's your opinion on the modern medical system.

  • you DO realise that i live in a different country to you?

my country has free socialised medicine (nice). USA has medicare, and people smuggling cheap meds from canada (not so nice).

what would you like to discuss?

and what exactly is your field of study?

  • i'm a High Schooler... lol. Who has ALL PH+.

  • sorry, i'm not American. what the fuck is PH+?

in fact, you know what? who cares kid?

  • Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with the Philledhipa Chromosome- less that 100 people in the world have it.

  • what are you talking about? what does cancer have to do with magnets, or how smart you are?

  • i'm not the normal high school kid. 134 iq

  • then you should be aware of the difference between the American High IQ societys and the REST OF THE WORLDS criterea for high IQ.

you only need an IQ of 122 to get into American Society.

whereas UK society, you need 140+.

    lol, genius.

p.s you should google the term "cultural bias in IQ testing".

american IQ test ask general knowlege questions. questions that ONLY an american would know.

the rest of the world uses tests based on reasoning and logic.

    so well done 134 IQ.

  • what, like "how much does a Big Mac cost on Tuesday". Also i forgot to mention that when i took that test i was laying on a sofa feeling like a freight train hit me and coughing up my right lung. I had to take it because i had to go to St. Louis for a Bone marrow Transplant. The test was also set for a 18 year old.

  • actually, i know youre trying to be sarcastic with your big mac comment, but YES, kinda like that.

they put a lot of geography questions in there. geography is not a test of intelligence. it is a test of geography and MEMORY!

and im still not sure what cancer has to do with magnets or intelligence?

  • i am simply trying to imply that when i took that test i was feeling like Crap

  • no. thats not how it was , and u know it.

firstly, you gave me a stream of irrelevant numbers, and tried to use that to prove your intelligence.

then, when i saw through that, you tried to pass yourself off as a pharmacologist, again, in an attept to try and prove my ignorance.

    you have failed twice.

  • no... didn't try to pass my self off as a pharmacologist... i simply asked if you know one of the drugs i take- Gleevec

  • so....again i have to ask. what the fuck does it have to do with magnets?

  • my question is, what does a cancer drug have to do with magnets?

YOU mentioned the drug before you mentioned IQ tests. don't try and suggest that the 2 are related.

  • my opinion on the American system is that ifr you can afford treatment, you will get the best. if you cant afford it, you are fucked. or go drive 200 miles to a free clinic, where you have to queue up for 10 hours. then smuggle cheap meds from canada (cos Imatnib cost money).

in England, cancer drugs are free. all drugs and treatment is free, it doesnt matter if you are rich or poor.

except in an English hospital, you are more likely to die from MRSA, Legionairres disease or Pig Flu.

  • and why the fuck are you pretending that you know shit about cancer drugs if you're only in high school?

  • Stating a science fact of that magnitude and getting a responce like that show me I am wasting my time talking to you..

  • what the fuck does a neodymium magnet have to do with your microbiology "science fact"?

  • dude the strings are suposed to be there

  • hay i see the stringy. u did not fool me

  • LOL

  • it kind of is floating cuz the screws r put on a too short line and it cant get to the magnet do it just stays there

  • No, it's not floating at all. To float, something must defy gravity in some manner. These are just hanging, still affected by gravity, and the magnets provide a horizontal and downward vector of force - both aiding gravity and affecting its horizontal position.

  • Well as long, as you can't see where the screws are bound to and where that circular plate is connected with, I wouldn't take this video serious. ^^

  • i used to do this 'experiment' when i was younger. the screws are attracted to the magnet but the fishing line keeps them from touching the magnet. no tricks

  • the screws are suspended in the air as long as they are in the magnetic field of the magnet

  • Well then they must be vibrating because of the air flow. Or else you should have put a glas around it, so one can see, that there are no other influences. And they should stand still in the very beginning. Otherwise how can someone know what might be the source of energy.

  • the magnets aren't making the screws float the fishing lines are just holding the screws as the magnet is pulling on them

  • If you had enough objects being affected by the magnet in this way, could it be used to demonstrate field lines around the magnet?

  • Yeah, that's called Iron Filings.

Or you can just pay $4.50 and buy a Magnetic Field Viewer Film.

  • You should change the title. The vid has nothing to do with gravity or floating. <_<

  • AGREED, this was a question someone had in regards to a security system.

  • YES, it is a video response to a question.

  • what is the lifting power

  • Single is 15 pounds, The stack has about 27 pounds. Thank You GreenPowerScience

  • Actually, if those are 1"x1/4" discs as they appear to be, then the individual pull force is 65 pounds, and if you removed the spacers, the combined would be about 85 pounds. Even higher if they're N52's.

  • O.o okay
