I have an iPod, I tried tikinote and I hate this keyboard. Why ? That's easy, I don't know where all the letters are, so it just take me time to find them and it's just so annoying, I love much more my qwerty keyboard on my iPod, but I would like to have the swype, but Apple sucks, so I can't.

yea the thing about swype is that once you get it, theres no getting used to it, you just scan your thumb around the same qwerty keyboard youve been using for years, as long as you kinda know where like 2/3 of the keys are, swype will get it. it doesnt take a week or two to get used to it, you just get it, and slowly you just become a texting machine.

Yes with some training anybody can type fast on any system : swype, slideIt or the standard keyboard !!

All of the systems are trying to correct mistakes made by the typer.. Each time a mistake is made, it means, stop typing, check the correction, type again..

TikiNotes does'nt have to. Because with the large keys, you don't make mistake anymore. And with the next word correction you don't really type, you fly through words. That's a change.

I love swype it's easy relaxing it memorizes new words you enter and with some time with it you can blow these 2 out of the water. This video is a joke and proves nothing. The swype guy was at half speed and you obviously practiced your ass off lol try that when your carpel-tunnel kicks in lol

I have been using Swype for a few weeks now, I am already way faster than the guy on the original video using Swype. Maybe even faster just using one hand, swyping with my thumb.

Actually they finished at the same time if you take out the quick word correction done by the Swype person.

clearly SWYPE was done first... the swype user had to go back and correct a swype error WIERD into WORD...and SWYPE was ahead by two words...so pointer did a incorrect swype pattern so what ...but after typing the same phrase with practice of course you'll be fast

Problem is swype seems less complicated, the big decision of swype vs tiki is merely user preference and something seeming easier will get the upper hand.

also, both layouts are far from optimal. eg double tap to get g when i and h are more common. qwerty is well known to be not even close to optimal.

Swype seems like a much more relaxing experience. I've never tried Tikinotes but it feels like typing that fast can really strain the joint of your thumb. Your title is also misleading. Tikinotes is not faster. At most, what you've proven is that You are faster with Tikinotes than some guy demonstrating Swype.

Not that you can really blame all the people in the Swype-hating videos for comparing it to anything on the iPhone, but the guy in the video using Swype that everyone uses for comparison is going really, really slow (compared to once you get the hang of Swype).

i think swype is so different from keyboards just because of how it works, yeah you have to type kind of but its so easy to do with only one hand, comparing to trying to tap each button for each letter (or large predictive groups of letters in this case) to scribbling over a keyboard and getting what you want is kind of like comparing a slingshot to a .50 cal sniper.

Just cause you say you won. you clearly didn't, you were typing much faster and the other guy was doing it totally half-assedly. What's more both of these programs don't add anything to the iphone, because you're still using two hands. One handed is my thumb doing all the work, which was fine on a lot of t9 devices.

watch again the video .. and you will check that the thumb does it all - the second hand was used to stabilize the focus for the video.. did you try the program by yourself ? not hard to figure out why it's really easy to use with one hand : if your thumb could do it on 12 keys with T9 , sure you will manage to do it with only 6 bigger ones ! ;)

For the Tikinots you seemed to be going quite fast and really hard. I have Swype, and if you think what was going on in that demo was its speed you are mistaken. That typing was very relaxed and very slow, if i want to go fast, I can type faster on Swype then on a keyboard with the same accuracy
