It may look weird, but I would not say it's bullcrap until I've tried it and came to the conclusion through experience (not fighting experience in general, but in this particular style), not by just looking. Plus: don't forget that even if this system were ineffective, the training still is good for the health of the practitioners.
Systema is a hidden martial art that not alot of people know about and not watched that much on you tube, for the minority of people and now i am only speaking of people in the united states i am sure its oviously more popular in europe from what i have seen on you tube anyways from what i can tell about systema you have a practical self defense and tough training, for me when i took karate the training was not that productive no just the same bullshit of katas, i am impressed with systema.
I am not going to comment on the quality of this, for anyone who knows it's obvious.
But, what the fuck does Christian indoctrination have to do with fighting abilities?

It's becouse karate is a martial ART/fighting system, while systema is a self defense/street fighting system.
