it is because the translator translate in chinese the question to Zheng Jie, ZJ answer in Chinese to the translate who say it in english. They just cut off the translate part on the vidéo. Zheng Jie speak english not bad, but a professional translator is better to answer technical sport questions. and no journalists speak chinese either ;-)
She fought really hard especially on the second set.I think she won many hearts with her determination and tremendous effort, mine included.But unfortunately I don't think she has the reach or height or size for a more powerful serve to be a serious contender in womens tennis. How sad. At one point even the commentator,Mary I think, said she needed to Grow! In tennis now, size matters.
nah that's not entirely true...her size won't affect her future successes.
Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that her serve probably let her down a bit in the semis but its probably more to do with serena's gigantic serve...
I've watched like all of zheng's matches and if you re-watch the ivanovic match and the vaidisova match...her ground strokes are just as good as the top seeds- and its even better on grass cause of the skid-
Her groundstrokes are really fantastic.Her backhand phenomenal and yes on grass where it skids, it's to her advantage.I can't wait to see her on hardcourt like the U.S.Open
Seles was no Magic Johnson either but she fared off well against those Williams sisters, even though she only captured a bronze (in 2001) while Venus the gold etc. Plus what about Martina Hingis who was a huge threat to Venus while she (Hingis) only lost later on to Serena. That was WAYY before Venus became victorious btw, like maybe in 1999.
Height doesn't have too much to do with it , it's all relative. Yeah that Serena has a mighty serve! We'll have to make an exceptional case to my 'relativity theory' just for her sake.
Zheng Jie will never beat Serena, may be Li Na! Serena will pound her like a muppet show!

oops mini error , Venus won two of her golds at the Olympics in or near the end of 2000. She continued her winning streak in 2001.
