  • Glad you like the layout, but sadly it is no more.

I have a new bigger better one, check it out. Hornby Dublo Rons 2011 Mercia layout ( 2 parts) All the best Ron

  • Tremendous! I remember the noise very well, but can't get the 'smell' of all those burning commutators and gear oil on youtube lol

    Great Layout

  • Great video! It's impressive to see these 50 or 60 year old trains running so well. I note your comments about achieving good running and agree wholeheartedly; vehicles that give trouble and trackwork that gives trouble should be removed and fixed (or, if you can't fix it, sold at a swap meet (joke!)). I did this with my layout, even though it wasn't fixed down, and running was generally pretty good.

  • What a fantastic layout ! Thanks for uploading !

  • hi ron have looked at your old layout and now this, WOW, exellent job m8, i wish i had that space to even get an elevated track , tell ye what though it would look awsome if you added scenery etc, keep up the good work and thanks for showing us, hugh

  • that is so awsome u are so cool ;-)

  • Good Vid! 5 *

I Think I notaced A Few GWR Locos (My Fav) I Live In Hereford In the West Midlands (Cotswolds line) so i live near the GWR. =D

  • Who is ?

  • Excellent stuff! And don't do the scenery route, please. I admire a sceneried layout as much as anyone, but the appeal to me of 3-rail is running it how it would have been run by boys in its day, i.e. fast and fun!!

  • And no derailments or decouplings! how do you do it?

  • All couplings are set same correct height and work on the uncoupling ramps, any rock in wagons is fixed. The track is checked and straightened first (especially the points and crossings) then screwed down with attension to detail. In difficult arrangements I lay the points and corners first then the straights (cutting the last staight to fit.)

  • you need to get some deisel trains like ews or gbrf that would make it look better

  • great set up I take it you have had them a few years for he 3 track rails

  • i want 1 tht big but i can't they r really expensive now i h8 life -.-

  • Thanks for your reply. It might be worth adding some helix's to the sides of your tracks, and maybe adding some shelves below and towards the front of your layout. That way your trains can still move about and be presentable. But at the same time you will have space for scenery.

  • Dude, it's like train city without the scenery. I understand you like your trains. But the scenery should be as much of the set. Add some tree's and building etc...

  • Hi tombo1984, would love to have space for more scenery, but am also trying to complete my colection of Dublo trains. I much prefer to display the locos on track and running than on the shelf. I look at this as more of a collection than a layout. But I do see your point and will take it into cosideration. Thanks Ron

  • I have just recieved a Hornby Dublo Engine through friends, buy only have the most recent 00Gauge track. Is there any way to convert Dublo engines to run on modern track? Thanks.

  • Hi klklkl12321, Hornby Dublo 3 rail locos can be converted to run on 2 rails but the wheels and wiring needs to be changed. This is best done by using original 2 rail Dublo parts. Perhaps it would be easier for you to swap this for a Hornby Dublo 2 rail loco. Regards Ron

  • Love your layout. My collection of 3-rail Dublo sits in boxes awaiting the time when I abandon my standard gauge tinplate layout. Your video gives me hope that it can be done. Well done.

  • Great use of the space you had to work with!

  • Hell that's busy! Trains going too fast for scale, slow 'em down to enjoy. Nice layout though.

  • Glad you like the layout, funny how the trains seem to run faster on vidio, but also as I am shooting the movie no one is opperating the train controls, and these older locos do speed up as they warm up.

  • Wow thats huge :)

    Good job!

  • Lol, you must have spent loads and lots of effort must have gone into it

    =)

  • How do you switch the track?

  • Hi ECDT1089 I use a lead tape pick-up on the 3rd rail, as the loco passes over it a short burst (or 2) of power is sent to a 6v relay. This in turn passes a short burst of 12v to operate points, signals, or further latching type relays (for continous 12v power). regard Ron.

  • Wow what an effort that must be.

  • great layout there mate, i like your n2 tanks. my dad has 1 of the dublo 4mt tanks and a class 20 diesel, may put them in one of my videos.

  • Howdy our neighbour just gave us a box with the a Hornby train the LNER 9596 and 3 rail track plus a box with new Junction Signals Upper Quadrant and new Buffer stops I don't think they were used. Lot more in the box cars people. A bit of fence and a stair case like yours over the tracks.Lots of track.

  • Hi Jim Looks like you have the seeds to a new hobby. Enjoy, Regards Ron

  • do you have a girl friend?? i guess not

  • Hi bryandown, sure, my wife is my girl freind, but as I'm retired I have plenty of time for both. Ron

  • how much did it cost to build that layout'

  • sorry, but didn't keep track of what I spent

  • lol ok

  • i like your railroad but im wondering is it ho or somthing else also check out my layout videos i am posting i will have more sone

  • It would actually be OO since these are hornby trains.

  • thanks

  • Wow. great. I would really like to see that. Wish i could. Good thing you don't have any Diesels, i hate Diesels. arrg
