@Experiment47 Actually there is an affect depending on which hemisphere you are, but it is only strong enough to be shown on weather and clouds and stuff- it is not strong enough to affect something like in the video.

It's a myth that water rotates one direction in the northern hemisphere, the other direction in the southern hemisphere. The guy in the video was directing the spin by the way he dropped it in the water and the way he was holding the basin. He probably does that to amuse every tourist that goes by =)

@Allen2989LA I can't believe this many peopled thumbed up a comment suggesting the water 'trick' in the video was accurate. There is a force that causes something like this to happen (Coriolis Effect) but it doesn't effect water going that fast. It effects large things like oceans, weather patterns, wind, etc. For the Coriolis Effect to effect water like that you'd need a LOT of time to wait for the water to become still and perfect conditions (level,temperature,etc) for it to be measured.
