This is the american version that will be airing on ABC. The Canadian version is called "Dragon's Den" and it airs on CBC. Kevin O is a Canadian Businessman, the rest of the sharks are yanks :)

For once the British show (Dragons Den - the original) is far superior to the US version but Shark Tank is still fun to watch as the premise is the same and I enjoy watching people making fools of themselves when trying to sell their entreprenurial ideas. The success of the British version show rests soley on the characters of the Dragons themselves - they are cold, sharp and witty. This show still has time to evolve.

In the UK version, its carefully crafted. One thing they do is make the people pitching walk up a flight of stairs to get a psychological edge for the dragons (sharks).

I can see this would be a waste of time on the US version as most of the people couldn't physically climb a flight of stairs as most need liposuction or gastric bypass surgery. lmao

The show originated in Japan (owned by sony) but the format used in western countries comes from the UK version of Dragon's Den not the Canadian which came a few years after!
