  • @TriciaLovesRyanBang Same here!!!!!!! SHINee rules!!!!

  • Well I'm doing this for SM Family!!!!

  • im doing this for snsd !!!

  • So is it everyword it always start with a alphabet and end with vowels or could you swap it other way round.......

  • @DudeItsVanessaL The rule is that a syllable can begin with a consonant (always) but end with a vowel (sometimes).

  • Oh this is hard for me.. Aigoo!! I already know two language.. My third language was German but I didn't learn that the second year in high school because there wasn't a German class anymore. So learning a new language is hard for me.

  • How to differenciate the pronounciation between 'uh' and 'euh' ?

  • @Millionmileys "Uh" is pretty much pronounced the way it's spelled. And for "euh" it's best to think of it as the halfway point of "uh" and "oo." As your tongue transitions from the "uh" to the "oo" sound, the "euh" will be somewhere in the middle. "Uhhhhhhhheeuhhhhooooooo." I hope that helps somewhat. :)

  • @Millionmileys Actually, 어/여 is more aw/yaw than uh/yuh....like the vowel sound in the word "ought" or phrase "aw, man." @p0lar0id, do correct me if perhaps both are okay, but I've never heard "uh" though I've seen it romanized that way.

As for 으 (euh) I'm thrown... English doesn't have this vowel sound. The only words I can think of are in French: the eu in "adieu", "mon dieu", "deux", etc.

  • @anrina I would have to say that aw/yaw is an inaccurate representation of 어/여. I stand by my uh/yuh pronunciation. I find the official romanization of the Korean language to be confusing. For example, a beginner Korean book that I have romanizes the 어 as "eo" and 여 as "yeo." Having grown up speaking Korean and now living in Korea, I can say that the uh/yuh is the most accurate.

  • @anrina I would have to say that aw/yaw is an inaccurate representation of 어/여. I stand by my uh/yuh pronunciation. I find the official romanization of the Korean language to be confusing. • @anrina 으 is a different animal. Adieu, mon dieu, and deux I feel have more of an "oo" sound having studied a little bit of French in college. But I can see how "euh" can be mixed in there.

Now having searched the English language with my tongue for a moment I realized that the "u" in the word "put" is the closest in pronunciation to the "euh" sound. It's neither a "putt" (uh) nor a "poot" (oo). That's the closest pronunciation I can find for now.

  • this video is really very helpful :) thank for that !

now i understand how i can write in korean language :)

  • it's gimchi

  • what happened 2 the other vowel ? ye , yae ?

  • thanks for the helpful tip on reading and speaking the alpabets.

i hope you have more videos on learning K-language.

  • Real good. Easy too.

  • i was just wondering how come there is no 'i' in the korean alphabet yet there is the word kim chi is that just the english spelling?

  • @RyokuSR430 there is an I. kim - it's the EE sound. ㅣ is the vowel letter for the sound. watch busyatomdotcom's videos to actually learn individual hangeul letters

  • i think i got the last part!! is it: Keem Chee? :D

  • @luvcookies1 *thumbs up*

  • is hard

  • New favorite vid. My boyfriend is Canadian Korean, but his mom is full Korean. Thanks for this. Took me a second, but I LOVE this. Thank you!

  • @mangoredchile You're welcome. I'm glad to hear you enjoy it.

  • its kinda rly hard but seems rly simple cuz.....the letters r not that much

  • @frogrow4242 Ya and there are many exceptions to the rule and sometimes characters sound different depending on where they're placed... :/

  • @frogrow4242 it easy not like chinese they have like 1000 of letter

  • @frogrow4242

type in busyatom. He is the best.

  • beautiful backgroun lol

    i think i love it :)

  • korean is bullshittly easy to learn

  • @PoohTheBad lucky 4 u...i wanna learn but im gonna need sum serious help....

  • for the vowel "yeh". it sounded like you said "geh"

  • riel is so hard to pronounce and I dont get the difference between ja and cha and ga and ka...

is there an easier way to learn how to say it? like how to place the tongue or something?

  • @KaiVampy It's going to take some training of the ears and mouth to get these pronunciations correct. However, I will try to teach you these techniques in my next video. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • ? = a

  • it's funny the way you made the consonant say he is silent. it's almost like the consonant was bragging about it:)

  • the one in your video with the question mark would be the ng consonant am I right?

  • yes u are correct

  • question. is this all consonants and vowels? coz I saw in google and they have more vowels... or is this only the common?

  • This is only a basic introduction so I'm missing some stuff. There's a lot more that needs to be added but I'm lazy...

  • haha. I hear ya about laziness. lol. but don't stop because so far your vid is the most useful one because it is out there in front of you and you made it easier. Now by looking at the hangul writing, i can now read it or write it.... maybe you should teach how to translate it to english.

and also just a quick question. do you know how to type hangul in a english keyboard?

  • thanks!

  • yay!

  • May i knw how to prononce the last 2 words? xD I'm still abit blurred. :x

  • Comment removed

  • it's "Kim Chi"

  • there are many videos on teaching korean. and this is by far the best and easiest i seen on Youtube! THankYou!

  • Thank you.

  • i thought it said kim chee lol

  • 1 wrong part i think

ㅔ is pronounced eh ㅖthis is yeh ㅐthis is ae (similar to eh) ㅒ and this is yae

_ but u said ㅔ is yeh which is kind of incorect

but i gues u fixed it

  • ㅐand ㅔ are both pronounced the same

  • geem chee?

  • correct!

  • how come if you prononce the word "g",your accully prononcing "k"

its confusing, because "korea" in korean is "han "GUK" and its prononce with a g. When do you know when to prononce it the right way?

  • the ㄱ in the Korean alphabet is often translated as a "g" or "k." That's because the pronunciation is very similar to both but actually it's neither a pure "g" nor pure "k" sound, it's in between the two. I guess it's more like a "gk." It's difficult to hear the differences unless you train your ears by listening to a lot of Korean.

  • how to pronounce tha last one before the picture?

    is it gamchee?

  • you're close, it's geemchee

  • hahah.ok..u said in ur vid that u forgot the sound of o?

i heard someone said that o has no sound..heheh..

  • actually if you turn on my annotations I mention that it's a silent consonant.

  • I heard no differences between the Jah and Cha sound

how to tell the differnce and how to pronunce them?

    Thanks

  • The differences are subtle. The emphasis on "Jah" should be on the "J" and "CH" for "Cha." It's similar to noticing the difference between the words Jin and Chin.

  • I see

    I need more practice

  • Was that last 'geem chee'

  • correct!

  • LOL Im SOO happy right now

this is my first time and I got it right!!!!

    XD

  • lol kim chi =) funny im korean but living in america has tooken away my korean language since i barely see my grandparents and they speak english fluently so im trying to learn ym korean bak wish me luk nice video tho thought was more but looking forward to 2nd part

  • the song in the background what it's name? I know it's the same song as in the movie Dragon Wars (at the end of the movie)

  • "Arirang" is arguably the most popular and best-known Korean folk song, both inside and outside Korea. Arirang is an ancient native Korean word with no direct modern meaning. 'Ari' means "beautiful" (For example 아리따운 native Korean word means "beautiful", "lovely", "charming") 'Rang' can mean "dear". Because of those words, arirang could be interpreted to mean "beautiful dear"; however, this modern interpretation is unlikely to match the original (ancient) meaning. - Wiki

  • kim chi, isn't that korean food if it is we eat that.

  • Yup, kim chi is picture shown at the end of the video.

  • Kimchi is tradinal food of Korea. I know that.

  • I love it!!! very good job.. thanks a lot

  • Thanks for sharing the knowledge :)the way you present it its easy and simple.

  • You forgot to mention that some of the consonants have more than one pronunciations (which depends on their position) such as ㄹ not only has a pronunciation of "l" but also "r".

  • The "ㄹ" is comparable to the English phonetic "r" but in the Korean language I think it's closer to the "L" sound. But again, my little lesson is in no way comprehensive.

  • Thanks!

  • HA--- HA---.lol

  • I LOVE IT!!

  • best job i've seen done...with the time you had..very...very..nice..

  • kool

  • Great JOB!!!

  • THanks

  • KIMCHEE! YAY!

  • i'm actually moving to south korea in about 6 days O_O not a very long time to get a head start but it'll work. i'll be taking a korean class so i'll be good =D

my dad's in the military so i'll be at an english school *cheers*

  • Whoa. Well I hope you have fun here. It'll be tough at first, I'm sure, but keep an open mind and make the best of it and you'll have fun. Hope this "Korean lesson" helped. haha

  • wow.. thanks man!!

  • you're welcome

  • you`re AWESOME! :)

  • cheers man, really appreciate it, EXACTLY what i was looking for ha ha.

  • this vid would have been really great if i watched it before i went to Korea !!

    :(

  • thanks heaps.

  • yo bro, that's not "yeh".

  • This letter is so simple. We can use two consonants simultaneous. For example, 까, 많, 넓, 빠...

  • and the last word was...gimchi.everyone i know spells it kimchi, but infact it should be spelt gimchi..wow.just found out

  • That's because ㄱ has the pronunciation of "k" as well. So it is kimchi.

  • wow...this makes learning korean so much easier.

thanks.i can read korean now...yayyyy for me
