I started this with all socks that got holes and she loved it, the paper was a bigger problem. used to shred the pee pads, that is why she is called shredder.
If there is one thing I've learned from owning a Boston, it's to keep anything valuable on a shelf out of the dog's reach. My Boston whose name is Daisy the Demon Dog, will steal shoes, backpacks that are 3x her size....if it's on the floor, it's hers. What works for her (most of the time) is a firm "NO!" and then immediately handing her a favorite "toy" which is called an Everlasting Treat ball; it's hard rubber, treats are inserted in the middle, and they stay put. Keeps her busy for hours!
I just watched my daughter's Boston over the week-end and he completely demolished at least one shoe of 3 pair, but I fell in love with him. What a sweet affectionate dog he is, and so smart.
easy to train, Tie a knot in the middle of a long sock and that should be the only sock they can chew. Do not let them chew on anything that you want to stay in tack. You can also get a dog toy called a Kong (make sure it's the size for them) and put a small dog biscut or peanut butter in it.Bostons have strong jaws and can rip the "normal" toys apart, make sure to get them a few things to chew on. I had mine trained in less than 3 months.
either put your shoes somewhere they can't be get by your boston terrier or getting him a toy that's like a shoe. Or even give him an old shoe that you don't want any more. That way, if you see him chewing on it, it's okay.
My boston is 2 years old and he has always chewed toys, we where told it was issues aswell but later we learned he just enjoyed chewing it because now he will litterrally grab the entire dog bed with our other 5 dogs still in it and pull it to us then start chewing.

IF a baby BT is still chewing after 6 months in your home, you got issues. They *chew* because they are stressed about abandonment fears. Once they learn that you WILL come back, they are fine. And yes, puppies chew for fun when you are home with them. There is a difference in the chewing.
And BTs are smarter than most other breeds of dogs.
Bostons make lousy pets, they do no do "I am a pet". They ARE perfect companion animals.
If you don't get the difference you can't handle a Boston. (:
Although you are right that dogs chew when they are stressed, they also chew because they are dogs lol... I bought my boston a MOAB (mother of all bones) by Merricks... He absolutely LOVES it... And as for chewing house things... Rule of thumb... They cant reach it, they cant chew it... Whenever i leave Dexter alone, i double/triple check there is nothing he can chew, or swallow around his area... Never can be too careful... But dogs chew... Nothing wrong with a good ol chew session...
I give my Boston Nylabones.. if I catch him chewing.. I stick one in his mouth. this keeps him busy for a long time.. Saves me money on shoes, blankets, etc.. :)
I just a boston boy and he is very sassy when he has the energy. The whole dominance thing is taking forever. Takes me 30 minutes of of scruffing and placing him on his back to show any sort of submission. If i don't do that he is nippy and wild. Anyone else have that problem? I know puppies will constest alot, but i've been working with him for the past month now and still no relief. He is just about 4 months. If you have any suggestions let me know.
Well when I got my boston pup I trained her so whenever she chews on something I took it away from her and said no and gave her one of her toys instead and said chew this and when she chewed her toys I would say good chew! that's a good chew, say it nicely, don't yell cause remember dogs can hear very well. (;
that is a nice way of putting it. i used to have a jackrussel/doberman named Mississippi. she was still a pup when I got her and when some one stole her. she once ate my field trip form. at the time I really didn't know how to train her. but the next time i get a pup, i'll make sure to read your comment.
I found my Boston Terrier loves to chew on socks. Don't waste your money on chew toys... just put one old sock into another old sock and tie it in a knot. Wash it when it gets yucky, and the dog will love his new toy!
Aww i cant wait untill mine gets bigger lol i just got him on mon. and hes 9 wks today! and hes a Handfull, what have i gotten myself into lol. Hes a good boy for the most part
Our BT Tug (3 1/2) likes to playfully take separated laundry in the hall-allbeit a sock, undershirt, or even underwear) and will stand in front of us, down on his front two legs, and make us chase him to get it back! It is sooo funny!
I love Bostons the best!!! They have the best personalities!!!!
My Boston totally prances around like that when she gets what we call "contraband". (a bra, plastic bottle, etc.) She knows she's being a brat! Oh yeah, and she destroys her toys pretty often. Right now, she's playing with her monkey carcass.
mine can't be left alone oe she'll destroy anything. but she can do that because she is the best. she won't do it as much if she is taken for a walk everyday.
Mine was the same way when he was a puppy...he would destroy anything that would fit in his mouth! Now he only destroys his toys thank goodness! Cute doggie!
My boston go to my kitchen in the night, and se grab my bread, but theres more, she doesnt eat it,she just go arround my house and hide it.
The first time, she hide a bread in my sister's bed, and she was sleeping, imagine how was her reaction

Sweet!. Boston's are really athletic dogs too you'll see what I'm talking about.
Search for the video "Boston Terrier (Can Small Dogs Rule? YES!)" If you're looking to get a Boston, this video may help you make a decision!

really, on a computer?? you correct spelling of others?? or perhaps it's the way the program posted it.
anyhow, this was meant to be a nice thing for someone and you have to find a mistake in it? get a life.

right, the evil program conspiring to make you look illiterate.
anyway... it's not funny, it's sad that you have such a failing command of your mother tongue.

@bpwriter47 Even with the Kong, only the largest size lasted for any significant amount of time with our boston.
