  • I find it funny that people can do custom jobs on their own cars to make full electric and get 200+ miles per charge for about 10k of work but a dealership can't seem to go more than 90 miles per charge and they charge 49k+ for the car.

  • I paid 2500 for my '93 Toyota. With what I saved on the vehicle price I can buy a hell of a lot of gasoline.

  • That is only until you are drafted into and killed in a war over that gasoline, then your F__ked.

  • american, think about: one liter gasoline in finland 2.20 dollars - high taxes..

  • also they give the car a sound because its so quite it can be dangerous to pedestrians. it would be silly to make it sound like a regular car because it doesn't "rev" up and accelerate like a regular car. a "jet-like" sound is appropriate for safety and is not obnoxious.

  • And some car manufacturers think a car being quiet is a selling point! Go figure XD

  • I like the idea, save for the fact they are adding a "piped engine noise'somewhere between a fighter jet and a formula 1 car'" Car Magazine. As a motoring enthuisist, i find that insulting to the core as sports car engine noises should not be artificially created, diluting the joy of listening to an real well tuned engine. Second reason is that electric cars are not solving the CO2 problem as the power from these cars come from COAL fueled power stations! Its just simply avoiding the problem.

  • why dont you stop being skeptical for a second and use your head and think about where they could charge the batteries from?

you can charge them with solar panels, which can be manufactured in a plant that uses solar energy. no way!! yep. you will have a converter in your garage that can store the electricity generated by the solar panel on the garage during the day, and charge up the car at night. you can also use wind power. possibilities are plenty, you don't have to use coal.

  • Yeah but the problem is that they will. Solar is inefficient, expensive(to develop) and take up tons and tons of room, nuclear has radiation and expensive, coal pollutes and is...well cheap? As i said it is avoiding the problem, not solving it. But should they actually invent a green way to produce electricity and actually replace petrol and other carbons (i.e. Nuclear Fusion) ill be all for it, but until then well ill remain skeptical.

  • Nuclear Fusion is a technology widely accepted to be further away than current 'renewable technologies'. The point of having an electric vehicle is it gives one the option to charge it from a renewable source. Granted, for a few years to come the energy will be derived from our current electricity grid, which is dependent on fossil fuels. But improving the green credentials of the grid is easier than creating an entire hydrogen economy, or solving nuclear fusion. This is a good intermediate step

  • There is a solar power installation company in Calf. right now that will place power systems on your roof for the same monthly cost of your average monthly electric bill. And the payments will never increases until it is paid off. This means, that your solar system will cost you no more than your current electric bill is now. And when it is paid off the rest of the electricity if FREE! Even for you EV.

  • thats up to the government to fix though

  • You are right; I keep forgetting that even after 30 million years of evolution there are still some who must mark their territory by peeing on a wall, or howling at the moon to make their presents known, like some kind of barbaric Neolithic brainless animal.

  • You've gotta be completely out of touch with reality to think there is no market for this car.

If you want high-performance, there is also the Tesla Roadster.

  • Shit! Look at this list of stupid comments - I can only agree with you snurre86. Fucking imbeciles...

This car is not made purely for performance, it marks a new era, where a sports-car and eco-car is being combined!

People buying a car like this will not be considering buying a GTR, Ferrari or Porsche!! It's a totally different segment.

  • u my friend get youtubes smartest comment of the day!!!!

  • reading this list of comments sure makes one aware that intelligence has been distributed among man very unevenly.

  • I'd buy over the GTR without a second thought, if I had the cash.

  • rather buy a BMW M5 17k more but you get a lot more .

  • terminate the pattons and we could be producing affordable elects in a few years

  • they could have at least tried to design a practical family car, not a luxury looking car with seats, with 2 in the back that are nearly useless.

  • Everyone should watch "what ever happened to the electric car?" and then take a look at the houses that the oil company owners are living in. Do they really need a house that big?

I agree with aeshed's last comment about price.

  • YES...these cars are expensive but it takes expensive cars and early adopters with cash to burn to make this technology take off. plasma and LCD TVs were expensive when they came out too remember?

  • $80,000! My first home cost $42,000.

  • Here's an even better idea: If you're that worried about the environment, get off your fat, couch swalllowing ass and go for a walk or take public transport.

  • yea!!

  • moving in the right direction

There is so much great talent on You Tube! Support Independent Musicians .. click, listen, rate, comment and then subscribe ... Thanks!

  • Very True, 100mpg! I did not notice that, however I wonder if it really makes up for spending $35,000 more instead of getting bmw, or lotus...will we ever know?

  • Why would I want a lotus? Those are death trap cars if your into a an accident since they weigh only 2,000 pounds. 15,000 units a year is probably more than lotus puts out every year. It doesn't matter but this Fisker is probably just as unreliable as your Lotus or BMW. The only reliable thing about the lotus is a Toyota transmission thats it. I don't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere with no one to fix my car cause there is someone who can repair my lotus.

  • I'm sorry but this is a piece o SHIT!

For 80K you can get a much nicer car, like a

Z06. Its funny how they prioritize

"eco friendly" for all the hippies out there, implementing their saying that you can get preformance as well. Top speed is only 125mph... If you really care that much about the environment, get a better car for much less and donate the remainder to stop global warming...or hemp.

  • WTF? is not the car, is the idea! but it realy don't make sense to buy it.

  • Smart one. There is no way to donate to global warning, You can't just give the earth some money and say "Here, now stop getting hotter." The only way is if EVERYONE(in the future) drives a cleaner automobile. As if the Gas powered car never existed.

  • Yeah but we don't know if were causing Global Warming. Some say were causing global warming by putting more C02 emissions into the air. Others says energy from the Sun and other stars exploding is causing it in which we can't stop it from happening. Then their the people who say if continues to get hot eventually there will be water evaporation and sea levels will decrease. This might have been a great car if it were only $40,000 not everyone can afford or wants an $80,000.

  • I do agree that it may be pricey. But like I said, "(in the future,)" The price will go down.. and the cars will get faster too.

  • LOL these people are not going to spend $80,000 on some Corvette or Sports car that has a 600 HP V-8. The Fisker is a a 4 door vehicles people who buy the Fisker probably are not looking for sports car that can only fit 2 people. This Fisker is more fuel efficient than your Z06 but just as stupid. I'm not going to spend $80,000 on this I'm waiting till I see one for $30-40,000. Plus if you buy Bentley or Rolls Royce for $200-300,000 your probably not buying it for performance either.

  • For $80,000 you could get that Nissan GTR sports car for 2009 they say go to 0 to 60 in around 4 seconds. Once that comes out that is car you should buy for performance. It costs much less than owning some Ferrari or other expensive sports car like a Mercedes.

  • Nice car!

  • /watch?v=DuVtJUAZwaE

  • yeah, and when you say affordable. starting price at 80K, affordable to whom

  • Eventually it will save you a lot of money on fuel, and you dont need to buy so much crap every time you stop at a gas station

  • I was there :O

  • SO....you want a medal or something?

  • Looks nothing like a Aston Martin crossed with a corvette, looks more like a BMW mixed with a Nissan 350z

  • WoW how awesome /cry I want one

  • Surprisingly Affordable HAHA! $80,000 is still pretty expensive. Does anyone know the current figures for how many Lotus Elise/Exige they produce each year? Those are pretty fuel efficient since they only weight around 2000 pounds. I was wondering since 15,000 a year seems like a pretty high figure of production compared to those cars and just as high as a Mercedes S Class.

  • yeah and the lotus elise and exige are only about $45000 a peice. Which makes them a much better buy.

  • The Tesla Roadster is electric only, has a 250 mile charge for the $100,000 model and a 350 mile charge for the $500,000 model. Both models get to a top speed of 125 miles per hour (just like this car), except that the Tesla's top speed is gear limited, and it does 0-60mph in 4 seconds.

  • It's good to see that automotive companies are taking steps in the right direction, but they're not wearing the right shoes.

  • Mass produce that shit and bring the price down. Finally we get to see some cool electric cars that actually use solar roofs.

  • This car is not a concept - it's a full production vehicle available Q4 2009.

  • Affordable starting price of $80,000.? Who is that affordable for?

  • get a career

  • Lol Affordable for the rich

  • ya f#*k that car

  • oh just $80,000 yeah let me go get that out of the coffee can in the back yard..cause ya know EVRYBODY has JUST 80,000 to spend of a f*%king car

  • i wonder if they would lend me one for a few months to try out..i could then give an opinion on its worth....cheers

  • nice cars

  • nice and affordable price 80,000 lol ill just get the hond fcx clarity than that! or a freaking toyota prius!

  • 'Comes in at only a measly 80,000' AFFORDABLE?!!??! I think they tagged on toooo many ZEROS

  • well, if Rappers can afford 1 million dollar bentleys, they'll go for one of these... Right?

  • WRONG!!! Rappers going green? That'll be the day Bush doesn't tell a lie.

  • If china comes out with one thats cheap, Im buying it. I saw on a India web site they produce cars the cost about 7/8000.00 US dollars about the size of a 4 door civic that gets about 45 miles per gallon HMMMM?

  • Way too much

  • That car would be affordable if they were producing 3 or 400,000 of them or more. It will get there "eventually", IT HAS TO!

  • lol 80,000 affordable

  • YEH RIGHT!$80,000.00 my f$cking stinking ass hole affordable for who Bill Gates, never mind I'll stick with my telleporter it's a lot faster and cheaper, beam me up Scotty!

  • Nice and affordable, if your middle name is 'Exxon Mobil.'

  • i am sooo happy see ppl caring about the enviroment

  • MAKE HYBRIDS AFFORDABLE! honestly, $80,000?!

  • "...surprisingly affordable at 80000US,-" ???? And it still doesn't have a H2 fuel cell? start production 2009???? You're way behind schedule, Fisker!

  • Wtf? 80,000? If Someone had that kind of money i'm sure they'd just go out and buy a car that's faster and runs off gasoline.

  • I spend in gas like 40 bucks for 5 round trips to campus in one week, and my car costed about 30K, so the cost of this car will be the same as my actual car and aproximately 24 years of gas... pretty affordable... hope someone make this technology cheaper... we all need it!

  • what they probaly ment was that the "affordable" 80.000 us. is cheap compared to the other fisker cars.

If they ment it globally (and thus including all cars out there) they are pretty crazy :)

  • To me it's a cross between Maserati and BMW, not Alfa or Aston and definitely not Corvette. See The Dancing drunkard on my channel.

  • to me, it resembles the bubble car homer simpson made, i dont like it personally, but hey, i'm a designer, i'm fussy.

  • اه

  • "... a startelingly affordable $80,000." LOL

  • yeah wtf?? i was thinking the same thing. that's why you shouldn't let bill gates make advertisements

  • The front of the car looks kinda like the BMW z8...

  • wow $80,000... when are they gonna release an hybrid car affordable??

our children and great children gonna hate us.

  • Nice car:P Could i have it please?? ;):P:PLOL:P:P

  • Wow only $80,000! If you worked for Exxon you could afford that! If you are an Evironmentalist, you can't. Irony, priceless...

  • go watch pandabandits

  • still using gas. useless.

  • Good concept but not original...

  • google is a partner!

  • plenty of geothermal energy to covert to this infrastructure at least 10% of the nations energy plan should be dependent on this technology. we wait and while our cries remain unanswered. why the oil co. and EPA continue to allow the ever increasing environmental hazards of current emmissions

  • dude we have bush as our president who caters to the oil companies (he himself was an owner of one) so you kind of expect for the government to be putting a tight lid on weaning america from oil. on another note, this car is very impressive with 600 miles combined gas/electric.

  • google should make a car

  • cool car :)

  • that car is amazing

  • Great I can be homeless or I could afford this car. $80,000 is not affordable for middle to lower class america. I can't even get decent healthcare and I work in healthcare. When our gov't starts to actually care about the citizian of this nation instead of looking at us like cash cows, hell will freeze over, and maybe this car will become affordable to the average american!

  • so you stay in your lane behind a smoking cancer tailpipe without your health care down the road. I think the technology is our only hope for true healthcare benefits

  • I actually understand the effects of air pollution on the human body. I'm involved with it on a local level in my community. I am talking about the COST OF THE CAR! If you think this is going to help, you must make over 100,000 a year. The car cost too much money for the middle to lower class (economic) citizen. If you want to talk about the impact of pollution and the physical and mental health threats it posses on a community I can talk about it in another forum

  • Cost of the car is not surprising, blame your murdering oil companies. remember everything new starts off expensive. This science is our only hope to keep pollution from poisoning future generations. The costs are insignificant to say the least! the monkey spent trillions killing on iraq! oil is not the future anyway. forget the other forum

  • ur a douche. the cost of oil relative to what you're actually getting is amazing. where on this planet could you get someone to accept 5$CDN to take you 80kms? lol

  • its meant to be a sports car: not made for middle and low class citizens

  • SWEET! $80,000! That's BULLSHIT! Great, so the wealthy who can afford high priced gasoline will be the ones driving this car. $80,000 of greed-based, ego-inflating, nonsense. Make this car affordable for the average person and then the manufactures can pat themselves on the back, until then, your car is a sick joke!

  • It plugs in? American car companies are again trying to screw their own citizens! They know that most US electricity comes from very inefficient coal burning. Honda's FCX is kicking their ass (again) with an electric car which is recharged using hydrogen / cleaner burning natural gas. Why are these companies always looking for the next solution to be only 10% better than the last horrible one? Either they are lazy, scared of change, stupid or greedy. I think its #2 and #4.

  • Electrons can come from anywhere. I buy my electricity from a company called Bullfrog Power, and they source my needs from renewable energy. So I could charge this car with zero emissions. To solve our huge problems, we have to look at combining solutions more, and criticizing flaws less.

  • the front looks most like a 350z

  • im sorry but $80,000 is not "affordable"

  • btw man made global warming is a complete scam on gullible environmentalist.

  • Or, maybe every scientist in the world is not lying. Jerk.

  • LOL... It is not every scientist in the world. The controlled media would have you believe this to be fact though. It does not take much effort to find a plethora of scientist who find the mmgw concept to be completely ridiculous. However a scientist, if you disagree, you are not given funding or airtime to express your views. The revolution will not be televised.

  • 80,000 dollars!?!?!? wtf? My vtec powered 1970s mini gets 50 mpg city! and has a wicked power to weight ratio. Think viper levels of acceleration. Hybrid means heavy and over complicated. Cars just need to be light an efficient. That will translate to much lower costs all around. Plus a classic mini has class and style.

  • wow that car is awesome

  • "zero emmisions" when running on electricity.

where does the electricity come from you fucking retard.

  • Do you think they mean emmisions from the car you tard?

  • You win, you win.

  • India just came out with the TaTa Nano 2 cylinder for $2500 dollars. With the way the U.S. economy is going that is all we will be able to afford....Someone needs to think different.

  • 80k? lol. If I see this thing in the parking lot, I'll scratch it.

  • Yeah but, what if I buy a car for 25k and invest the $55,000? That's $183/month at 4per. That buys 61 gallons of gas per month which takes me 1100 miles per month at 18mpg. And all for free. A better deal. Or I could use the $55,000 to buy 18,333 gallons of gas which I could go 329,994 miles with, LOL. Pass.

  • HOW ABOUT YOU MAKE AN AFFORDABLE ELECTRIC CAR, NOT JUST SOME FANCY TOY FOR RICH FUCKERS...???

I would rather put a down payment on a house then buy one of these, but since an electric car would benefit like 80% of the population, please make them affordable for everyone. It will help save our planet.

  • asking too much. Peole like you can never make world go round

  • Relatively affordable compared to a Lamborghini. At least its heading on the right direction. Maybe in 20 years it will be more reasonable.

  • vette with aston martin front? and side of RX8 dont you think?

  • Dont think so,I`ll keep my Saturn thnx.

  • fck this car

  • "relatively affordable $80,000 base price."

I paid $3.5k for my car... and they consider 80k "relatively affordable?"

Give me a break. Screw this.

  • can't put a price tag on doing the right thing, fossil fuel will be a thing of the past, watch the tic about the hazards of fossil fuel emmisions on the history channel!

  • Electric cars will never work...what happens wen the power cord run out of length? Back to the drawing board my frends.

  • lol ;)

  • haha real funny

    You should be a comedy

    You're just so funny

I'm still laughing, wow that was a real kneeslapper

  • uneducated folks have to realize AE is our only hope for quality of many lives. currently, the poisonous cancer causing co2 chemical emissions the oil govn does not want you to know is responsible for premature death. buy the concept or at least accept and support it :)

  • If ya really wanna be green 80 grand will buy a lotta bus ridea.

  • My new car design, frisker karma will frisk anyone in under 5 seconds.

    pros: pisses of ppl

    Cons: 5 miles per gallon.

  • full electric range of 50 miles?...that's it?...I know for a fact they have some that go 250 miles so WTF is the deal here...why aren't they getting better...something smells fishy

  • Nice !

  • surprisingly affordable, $80,000?! LOL

  • why u scabe - can't u work 5 jpbs full time to drive a really weird car?

    y stinkn french latinos

  • no one wants to pay big to help the phoney cause that is global warming

  • Who said anything about "global warming"? Buyers will "pay big" for the good looks, exclusivity, great performance, smooth ride, and the ability to "stick it" to the oil companies and oil sheiks. A Bonus - "driving electric" is 1/3 the cost of driving on smelly polluting gasoline.

  • But buying the car in the first place completely offsets all those savings.

  • the tesla seems better, faster, and totally electric.

  • I like Tesla Roadster very much, but:

. totally electric is sometimes a bad thing

    . Tesla Roadster is a two-seater

. it has no solar panel roof

. it costs about $20.000 more than Karma

(and personally I can't imagine a situation, where I have to go faster, than 100 mph)

  • COP CHASE DUHHHH

  • Well, gonna have to buy me one of them Bugatti Veyron things, then...

(oh, and become a cop too :)

  • i'll get right on that, sport!

  • read the video discription it says RELATIVLY AFFORDABLE... NOT AFFORDABLE.

IN OTHER WORDS ITS A REASONABLE PRICED CAR IN THE LUXURY CAR SEGMENT WITH THIS TECHNOLODGY>

REMEMBER THIS IS A LOW VOLUME CAR FROM A RELATIVELY TINY AUTO MANUFACTURE.

  • What's your problem, folks?

This car was NEVER meant to be for an average joe.

Or, perhaps, Joe Average just feels the need to be pissed off every time he hears about a new hi-end car he can't afford?

Get a life... Or a better paid job.

  • Affordable my ass. The average joe will never be able to afford this.

  • Pricing out the average consumer is a sign that Big Oil is still in control. All hail the Illuminati.

  • Too true. What shall we do?

  • Sirs, Fisker Karma? Why bother? jake87

  • 80,000 DOLLARS!!!!! they should have named this the FISTER KARMA... ouch!

  • Surprisingly WHAT?

    80 grand?

That buys 22,222 gallons of gas here.

Or the two nicest homes on the block.

    *sigh* Next ridiculous fanatasy, please.

  • Same comment, it's affordable for the market. Next time make sure you look at the manufacturer before talking. These are low volume manufacturers who normally charge A LOT more even when the car doesn't use new technology like the PHEV tech used in the Karma. Again a Quattroporte costs around $110k. Fisker usually charges $128k just to rebody a SL55 or 645Ci. So $80k IS surprisingly affordable.

  • Perhaps it is affordable to you. Perhaps it is "surprisingly" affordable to you. It is not ANY variety of affordable to me, anybody I work with, go to Church with, live near, or am related to. I'll stick with calling this a "riciulous fantasy", neg rep or no.

Dear car inventors: Pain threshold is $35K.

  • In India they sell cars for 2000 euros. I*d rather buy that.

  • looks like it was based on a Z4? in europe $80,000 is affordable $2 - £1 !! And the main people who will have such cars will be mid 30's proffesionals with hight 100,000 salarys. There are lots of them working in the citys where the charges for gas guzzlers can be as much as £40 per day for access and £100 + for parking. This is the future guys green cars but how green are they to build?

  • Wow, that looks way better than the shitty Toyota Prius, but $80,000 is not relatively affordable, who are they fucking kidding. Relatively affordable is fucking $10-15,000. The people who have that much cash to spend aren't going to buy a POS like that. They'll be rolling around in Corvettes and Vipers.

  • I couldn't have said it any better bro, good job!

  • $80k IS relatively affordable considering the next closest car in that form factor is a $125k quattroporte also at the 10k produced per year level. The similar cheaper MBenz CLS is priced at $65k but a 30k yearly production means it's less limited. We are talking about the luxury market here, not the general market.

  • Yeah but who needs that form factor at that price. No one.

  • Nice custom looking sports car.

  • 80 grand for a car that only goes 125 mph? Hell no

  • 80 grand? pfft. what hippie can afford that?
