@tikalal Hey is basicly playing the exact same thing, but moving the repeated riff up an extra octive each time, its a very common technique for improvisation.
Other things that people often use is semitone key changes (Plaing a riff on C, then C#, D, D# and so on) and a cycle of 5ths (where you repeat a riff in a constantly descending pattern through different keys, and then break away to the original key)
The cycle of 5ths was made famous by a rock god. That god is Bach.
@pianoguy05 Mate, I was trying to be helpful and you have a go at me for a spelling mistake? I hope you don't behave like that in real life. Keep your arrogance at bay and actually contribute something.
Hehe thanks for that. Luckily I was able to work it out eventually! I just started out at the beginning of the year so I've been getting better at working things out by ear. It just sounds so cool I wanted to be able to do it :)

It's actually a cycle of fourths in this song I believe, could be wrong tho.

@itsbenhood cycle of fourths is just cycle of fifths backwards.

@Muso8787 I think you mean "octave". At least, that's how actual musicians spell it.

@tikalal Just don't worry about it and do your own thing. You don't have to play it just like he does. That is what makes a musician a musician.
