Would that "Kako ste?" work for a female superior? Because some females prefer to be called Sir in english instead of "ma'am", so im not sure if it applies for this.
Is it usual in Croatia to ask "How are you?" if you meet somebody? For example in polish we have this question but it's rather seldom. How's in Croatia?
Just wanted to say a quick thanks... heading to Croatia soon and these lessons have been perfect! Thanks for putting the effort into these videos and making them available.
And you can't say(I mean you can,but it's not grammaticaly correct written nor it makes any sense when pronounced,at least this stands for Bosnian) Hvala Baka.It would be more likely "Hvala Bako".
My great-grandfather was Croatian, so I have some Croatian in me. I am trying to learn a few words in croatian, but I am so much better at english. lol
...Actually English had the same way for talking 'with respect'. It had a singular form 'thee' which is you now and a prulal form 'you' which still remains as it was. (=
But since everyone was trying to be polite the word 'thee' became so to say unused.

@aciidica It's used when you talk to the person you either don't know or you show respect to. Used both for males and females.

@Piko000001 If you meet that person for the first time, or even if you're acquaintances, than not. But if you're frends, than it is usual.

Thank you so much! The lessons are great!! One question... if you want to say thank you very much with respect, do you say "puno hvala vam"?

when you said" o.k." it sounded like "oke" which means "ears" or "eyes", right?
iRoulette 10 months ago
@iRoulette oči would be plural of eyes, but "oke" is something people use sometimes, too
