  • Would that "Kako ste?" work for a female superior? Because some females prefer to be called Sir in english instead of "ma'am", so im not sure if it applies for this.

  • @aciidica It's used when you talk to the person you either don't know or you show respect to. Used both for males and females.

  • Is it usual in Croatia to ask "How are you?" if you meet somebody? For example in polish we have this question but it's rather seldom. How's in Croatia?

  • @Piko000001 If you meet that person for the first time, or even if you're acquaintances, than not. But if you're frends, than it is usual.

  • Thank you so much! The lessons are great!! One question... if you want to say thank you very much with respect, do you say "puno hvala vam"?

  • Is "kako ste?" for male and female?

  • @adrianazagreb ... yes

  • Just wanted to say a quick thanks... heading to Croatia soon and these lessons have been perfect! Thanks for putting the effort into these videos and making them available.

  • when you said" o.k." it sounded like "oke" which means "ears" or "eyes", right?

  • @iRoulette oči would be plural of eyes, but "oke" is something people use sometimes, too

  • I was talking to my croatain friend i said kako ste and she said that was slightly wrong and now i understand from this video :3

  • thank you this really helps

  • what's the name of the guy that's singing the song in the background

  • My Baka told me 'your welcome' is 'molim' can this also be used? everytime I say 'Hvala Baka' she replies 'Molim' :)

  • @Danica028

Yeah it can be used. :)

And you can't say(I mean you can,but it's not grammaticaly correct written nor it makes any sense when pronounced,at least this stands for Bosnian) Hvala Baka.It would be more likely "Hvala Bako".

    Noun Baka changed to Bako.

  • @misterforyou Thanks for the reply, I will try 'Hvala Bako' next time I visit her! Hvala Liyepa :)

  • @Danica028

    Nema na čemu. :D

  • @Danica028

Yes, in fact it is even more polite.

  • My great-grandfather was Croatian, so I have some Croatian in me. I am trying to learn a few words in croatian, but I am so much better at english. lol

  • Dobro jutro a hvala, Croatian101, moje ime je bhtrb456546, volim te! <3

  • Very good lessons. Thank you!

  • yay my gf is croation and ima suprise her volim te

  • You're girl friend must be hot. Most yugoslavian girls I've seen are. Great back side.

  • I love your videos, im learning as much croatian as i can because my best friend if almost 6 years is croatian and i want to surprise his parents :P

  • thank you for the helpful lessons sir... :)

  • ...Actually English had the same way for talking 'with respect'. It had a singular form 'thee' which is you now and a prulal form 'you' which still remains as it was. (=

But since everyone was trying to be polite the word 'thee' became so to say unused.

  • One of the many things that is good with these videos is that your english is very good so its easier to understand :D

  • thiis is great thank for the lessons....

  • Hvala :D you're lessons are very "dobro" (or "dobrij"?) :D

  • "your lessons are very dobre" :) dobro is for musculine, noun lessons is in croatin in female gender/ feminine

    sorry my English sucks :P

  • it's dobro...your lessons are very good...you say on croatian tvoje lekcije su jako dobre...
