i come from the uk, but my partner is in the states right now. the first time i went there i was served up okra and didnt know what in the world it was as its not something we really eat over here. im so fussy with food that i honestly thought i wouldnt like it, but it was so good!
my partner is originally from the south and loves good food, so i thought id look up some recipes on here to make her feel at home when she moves here in a few months... thanks so much for posting :-)
I'm always thrilled to see people find the video useful. Stay tuned, I have lots more southern favorites shot but not uploaded. Meanwhile, I have another show that I'm about to upload called "Twirl", it's a little web talk show shot in Atlanta, GA. I plan to explore everyday topics of interest. I just finished my Sparkling wine segment, if you get a chance to view, let me know what you think ! Thanks, julie
Wish I had found your vid earlier, just made egg battered okra for first time, did not know to coat with flour mix twice, will try that next time. Thanks for video!
Hey, seriously great video on the okra!!!! I am going to go and try it. I am growing my own and i have like 6 big pods, it will be a small batch but i appreciate you making it so many different ways.. I hope to see more vids, you are actually pretty godd at this cooking demo stuff in my opinion. - Eric
I'm flattered & appreciate the feedback. I wish I could grow okra, I tried growing a small batch last year but wasn't successful. I love shooting the videos, I have lots more recipes filmed, waiting to be edited. Hopefully I'll find the time soon to upload. You've inspired me to make it a priority. Have a great summer! ~ julie
Thank you !! I'm glad to know the dogs are making a splash on youtube. I hope you try the okra, let me know what you think. I have lots more videos waiting to be edited & posted. Keep watching, I hope to get more entertaining with time !!!
AS you were showing your okra video. My Seven month Mini Dachshund was sitting on the back of my neck. Loves to cuddle. Your Okra looks awesome. I will try you recipe.
All those methods were a little different than how I cook it but all looked very yummy. I have that exact same type of bowl you used to break the eggs into. It's a great bowl for mixing stuff. I've used it TONS over the years.
And your so right about okra needing to be served hot!!!
I like how you do your okra, especially spreading the okra out on the pan to coat, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for uploading, it was fun to watch ! Yes, I love that bowl too !
I like the version without egg, too. I'm surprised you have fresh okra this time of year, even as far south as Atlanta. It must be the very last harvest of the year. Please, if you don't mind, show us your beet recipe, too. Thanks for posting!
