Not all the TA's wanted the strike. And now even the ones that didn't want it cannot even work although they want to. Some of my TA's I really like, some of them I hate. There has been many times that my TA was a complete idiot. I wish they were not in a union and they got paid on an individual basis. That way the students would get the good TA's. The university could have a good rep, and only the good TA's would be noticed and be payed well. While the idiot TA along with CUPE, CAN GO TO HELL!!

Im interested in becoming a York TA. I would like the luxury of being a full-time student and be paid as much as a full-time employee at the same time. Therefore, I can pursue my full-time education while earning a full-time salary. I would like to have my cake and eat it too!

I want to be a TA specifically at york though, because I heard they get paid more than at any university and still can complain for more.

Let me explain it this way. The university cannot meet the expensive demands of the union. They've offered several fair compromise solutions, including binding arbitration. The union is stubbornly refusing to compromise, so I've lost 2 months of my education.

Think about it like a business. If the business is making more money, they can afford to give their workers pay raises. If the company is making less money, they need to give their workers PAY CUTS in order to stay in business...

How does this effect York? Less federal funding, less provincial funding, and most importantly less private funding. Private funding is where alumni donate money to the school. Due to the recession, people everywhere are spending less money, and are cutting out spending on unnecessary things, like donations.

You got some bad information. York TAs make higher wages but they also pay tuition and have lower benefits than many other students in the region. This meme about a bunch of greedy TAs is absurd. Do you really think they're out on the lines in sub zero temperatures every day because they're all greedy?

The fact of the matter is, we are in a global recession. The province can't afford your ABSURD demands, and certainly the undergraduate students can't afford to pay for it.

Since you've got all the answers, explain: What does a global recession (explain what that is) have to do with the demands of the TA's. Explain how why it's unreasonable (including explaining how York uses it's money and *why* it's not possible to allocate/re-arrange funds around to suit the demands of the TA's and get the students back in the classrooms).
