  • Absolute bollucks. The theme is funny though

  • Que serie, por Dios!!!!, era tremenda, thanks for sharing ;)))

  • boyle and bodie are coming round for tea next week cant wait

  • I lived for Saturdays as a kid to watch this. Big crush on Lewis Collins at the time but now I think Martin Shaw was sexier...he's aged a lot better too. Still sexy at ?66!!!

  • Es kommt ja nicht so viel gutes aus GB aber die wahren nicht schlecht.

  • wish i had a car and a glass window.I CAN WISH CANT I!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Friggin' fantastic theme tuuuuuuuuuuunnneeeee!! Best ever!! I seriously need this as my ringtone!!

  • Got to thank my dad for introducing me to this

  • I'm only in ma teens and now thanks to itv 4 I hve a new fave show

  • The coolest theme tune ever!! Britains answer to Starsky and Hutch theme!! They don't make theme tunes like this anymore!!

  • Well done for uploading this! pure class tv!!!!!!!

  • Great intro.

Even as a kid my mum used to let me watch this and I was always Bodie in the playground at school!

  • ...there's too much wah-wah on the pedal. I'm going to explode!

  • @ dislikes: You are going to pay for that...

  • a real man's show

  • How the f**k can anyone dislike this? Weirdos.

If nothing else a mk1 Granada through an office window? Genius.

  • Fantastic and still repeated on ITV 4.

  • I have started to watch this show since I got a new tv. It is great and today they are on, all day, one after the other. I had never seen this show before; born overseas. All of them are NEW episodes to me; sorry to be enjoying them more than you lot. . On the downside, I've seen every 'Murder She Wrote', so those when they come on the telly, are not so interesting any more; they were my favourite. . I never guessed that 'he' is George Gently. Hooray for tv. . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • Me and a friend here in Denmark used to play with guns pretending to be Doyle and Bodie when we were kids.

  • @topgear1138 i still do and im 38!!!!!

  • Love this show, was born in the mid 90s but even I can see it beats the modern day crap. Long live 70s classics! My dad was also born and grew up near the old gas works where they filmed it so played a part in me seeing it!

  • this is re run on british tv daily ITV4

  • @4bdemon666 Yeah, I started wtaching them the last few weeks, having not seen any of them for 30 years! I like it but found it a bit too grim and hard-nosed when I was a kid, but now I see just how dman good the plots and characters really were. I want the box set for xmas!

  • Gordon Jackson looks like Wallace (Wallace and Gromit) ! LOOLZ !

  • Sunday evenings have never been the same since. :(

  • Allí comenzó Pierce Brosnan

  • This would make a great ring tone for a phone ;o)

  • oh, this is the song i loved very much

  • love this theme i wanna run and jump and slide over the bonnet of my capri.

  • lol martin shaw looks like mel gibson in lethal weapon xD

  • I was small too during the series....we enjoyed every series!!

  • Forget the famous American shows of the period (which I love too) - IMHO, this is the best opening theme tune of them all. Laurie Johnson's brief would have been "write something tough, loud, exciting and funky" - and boy, didn't he do just that.

  • quality! they should bring them back!!!!

  • @D1CKYM1NT yerr i totally agree

  • Uauuuhh !!! This series was broadcasted when I was a elementary school's boy ... I remembered it slightly !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Man, I thought Bodie was the epitome of cool, as a boy!

  • @Gregz0r1 In the school playground everyone wanted to be Bodie!

  • this programme was awesome thank goodness itv 4 is showing it again

  • politikally incorerrect and real

  • i remember an episode where a young woman was pushed out of the window, and they showed a the scene as a flash back of her falling at different angles, i cant remember the name of the episode, can some please tell me?..thank you!

  • i love this show, and i did'nt see it it first time round , i saw it in the mid 80's

  • I loved Bodie (lewis collins) ! As soon as it showed him in the gym I was hooked on the guy...lovely!

  • What a show,BRILLIANT!

  • a remake of the professionals would be an awesome idea!

  • @quberay23 they did a remake that was shit

  • Phowaarr Martin Shaw was gorgeous in this, used to love the re-runs, actually he's not so bad now but give me The Professionals over Judge John Deed anyday.

  • The Best TV series of all time .... it also remind me of the best days of my life : childhood

  • Comment removed

  • @5eurocups2005 Bodie was a bonehaed, and I could not stand that character Doyle was the better of those two men Doyle though whereas bonehead Bodie was a wally.

  • @rojblake82 Well i guess everybody has their own opinion, Personally i like the character Bodie a lot.

  • Brilliant Show

  • Loved this show, still watch it on Sky. The producers of today could learn a thing or two from these shows.

  • Great reminder of what good tv was once about.

Can't believe the way it has become now.

Thanks for the clip good to know other people remember the good old days

  • One of the best series ever and what a theme tune!!

A pity it's relegated to ITV4 with it's cut to ribbons editions and on-screen logo defacing the picture. Put this back on the main ITV channel to give it a new lease of life DOG-free and unedited to cut through the sea of pathetic dross that's made up the schedule for years now.

  • Funny thing is...I don't remember any car driving through a glass window in any episode..

  • @m3voj They removed it cos of efl n saiftie as they did wiv benny hill

  • Every time I hear this I have the sudden urge to drive my car through a plate glass window.

  • @payasovic68 haha.shouldnt write this but this music with miami vice is more dangerous than anything else while driving there this urge.

  • @payasovic68 I have an urge to smash up a Travelodge.

  • @animatetime Judging by my latest stay at a Travelodge , no one would notice.

  • rw

  • 0:21

  • Mark 1 made this great show for LWT. (ITV in london)

  • too right ! Why is it most black people think and twist everything a white person is saying even if its not to them in a negative and racist way. Music was playing in a local pub and two coloured people walked past and went to the local police station saying the music was offensive when it was an eighties hit !!!

  • london looks so different in these times, love the cars,

  • awesome series !!

  • Christ, ITV made this. Now they spew out festering dogsh*t like The Only Way Is Essex and the X Factor. What the hell happened...

  • @ConstantineBooth

    Capitalism won.

  • @ConstantineBooth what did happen to all the great series thank god for youtube.ITV then was always hard arse compared to BBC american programs.

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome!! This comes on ITV4, I still watch.

  • Where is Lewis Collins now and what is he doing for a living, I wonder.

After the film Who Dares Wins, I've always wondered.

  • 100% oldschool. I called Bodie, i was child, like "Dodie" :-D

  • I seem to remember they remade the series in the 90's, but I think there was only series I cant find it anywhere??

  • @wolfq yeah they did, they only made one series. It didn't have the appeal of the original or the awesome interaction between the characters, but it was watchable. It was hardly promoted and only available on Sky One and so no one seemed to know it even existed until it was all over. Edward Woodward was 'Cowley''s equivalent , it was not awful overall.. but not as good as the original of course...! It was "The New Professionals"

  • he actually never passed the selection course as you cant take it unless you have a minimum of 3 years service in one of the forces. I understand he trained and spent some time with the SAS to help in his role

  • he played in the mojo's in the 60's, drummer i think - the lead singer at the time was deak vernon who lived next door to me- sady he's no longer with us - small world eh!

  • I loved this serie since I was a kid, Watched them with my parents. Wonderful memory

  • The Professionals 2:

    youtube.com/watch?v=Sq4GNl4sAEM

  • I heard it from the the TESCO advert

  • @jethrosesc right insult of a mega theme using it in that ad tbh

  • epic tune!

  • Phat Bass Trombones and High note trumpets....these 70` Theme Songs are BOMBS with their funky lines and floppy Bassguitars. All these unknown Studio musicians are my heros.

  • If REGAN hadn't had any dinner, he would have beaten the shit out of BOTH of them.

  • i wasn't alive when this first came to the tv but i watch it on itv 4.

  • The best theme song ever

  • this reminds me at "street of san francisco" .. another badass tv-theme

  • Reminds me of Sunday nights at home, 9pm to 10pm, nice way to finish off the weekend, as soon as the closing credits rolled Mum would shout "C'mon, straight to bed, school tomorrow!" and I could almost cry at the thought. Superb, TV seemed to much better in those days.

  • @thegarbage HaHaHa, that's a peach of a comment mate ! I remember that exact same thing, it's funny how it was seen as a kind of tough grown up program back then and now it's on during the day same as the Sweeny. "but mum the professionals are coming on, I'll go to bed when it's finished !" then I would look at my dad praying for back up, he would nod, then I would say "see dad says it's ok" Great days for sure !

  • good to see the re runs..love watching them sporty vauxhalls flying around

  • Be polite.Be effecient.Have a plant to spam every quote you know.

  • one of my favorite shows ever, and it currently on tv being repeated as well!

  • @jr2nd This was one of my favorite tv shows, growing up in Calabar, Nigeria in the early 80s. There was an epsiode they met a kick-boxer who beat them up. Another episode in which Doyle was shot!

  • Love this show! I cannot wait for the film to come out ... very excited! That theme kicks ass!

  • Brilliant Show. If You Don't Already Know That Theme Is Available On ITunes. The Album Is The Rose And The Gun. The Theme Can't Be More Than 1.98.

  • Man this takes me back ! Did anyone else get the Professionals CI5 box for their birthday or Christmas ? It had the cap gun, little spy camera, CI5 badge, and a few other things that I can't remember, was about 6 or 7 yrs old and the camera had real film, made my Christmas...........well it was the 70's.

  • @MrNzzo My mom got me the CI5 handbook of famous spies!

  • @CreoleCommando Hiya Mike, that sounds cool buddy (Lol) Where is Belize friend ? It just goes to show how popular the professionals are eh ?

  • @MrNzzo Belize is in Central America, but i'm from Trinidad.

  • @CreoleCommando Hiya Mike, thanks for sending me the video I've just watched it again and downloaded it, yeh me too, I never missed an episode when I was a kid, I still watch the odd one now and then and I still really enjoy it (Lol). Wow I would never have guessed that people as far away from Britian as you are would even have heard of the Professionals, I'm from Scotland just like Gordon Jackson (Cowley).

  • the best police/buddy cop/action series ever! got all episodes all on dvd.

  • The funniest music TV theme opening ever! Me and my sister were laughing at it then!

  • Yeah Statham would be great as Bodie in this, any ideas for Doyle.

  • @222damien clive owen?

  • If they make a film i really hope they get it right with the casting. Mind you for some reason i could see Jason Statham in one of the roles.

  • Oh, those fab times!!

  • Anyone know who wrote the musical score for this? Whoever they are, they're a genius!

  • @Tehui1974 it was Laurie Johnson

  • @Tehui1974 lol. It's on the credits. 0:38. Laurie Johnson. lol

  • Love it, the ford Granada coming true the window, this show was way ahead of it's time

  • @AMBASSODOR Yes, the Granada smashing through the window certainly sets it off.

    What a tune!

  • This show was the first movie/TV show ever in the world to use a laser sight. Nowadays we take laser sights for granted but it was this show that in one episode, did it first.

  • I love it when the car comes through the plate glass window.

  • brilliant! way ahead of its time for the 70's! i'll never forget that theme music!

  • the was THE best show ever!!!!!! loved it, loved the men in it and wish it was still on

  • I love that Mark One Granada at the beginning, it wouldn't be the same with a Morris Marina.

  • i must have watched this vid about 20 times today lol, great theme, great series.

  • top show...use to watch it all the time......great theme.........todays tv sucks......

  • probably the best memories i have is going to bed early and getting up to watch with this show old man.. dad and son time guns and stuff while mum was asleep.

the tune still rocks.. must have heard a few ripoffs on the dance floor in the early 90's

    wicked wicked

  • If they remade this, int he interests of PC-ness Bodie would be a black man and Doyle would be a lesbian. And thjey would drive around in Fiat Pandas.

  • @bodieofci5 PMSL LOL. How very true. The World has gone mad!

  • @bodieofci5 If the black man was, say, Idris Elba from The Wire, that would be pretty cool, no?

Wait... why am I wasting my time talking to a racist? Sorry - as you were.

  • @bodieofci5 BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

  • @bodieofci5

No no, not a fiat Panda, it has to be some sort of hybrid that uses poison gas for fuel and has fresh air and comfy cushions coming out of the exhaust.

  • @bodieofci5 and all recive stress counselling!

  • Martin still acting now and has done so many dramas and series but what happened to Lewis Collins?

  • But where was the old stone railway station? with no roof they always filmed in, eg Broadsword mines episode, and the booby trapped caravan episode, and is it still standing, or some wanky Comet/ Staples/ Halfords industrial estate now?

  • Lewis Collins actually passed the Training for the SAS but was turned down because of his celebrity status in the Professionals, proper hard bastard.

  • @jaldorian I never knew that. He did play an SAS character in the film "Who Dares Wins" which is the motto of the SAS.

  • @jaldorian

He should have joined the Royal Marines. Then after a bit he may have got into the "Special Boat Service".

  • @jaldorian only according to the Daily Mirror though (the newspaper equivalent of prison toliter paper in the UK)...I'm not sure how he could have passed the entrance requirements without being an enlisted member of the forces and entitled to take them in the first place ;)

  • @jaldorian he also auditioned for James Bond but was turned down because he was to 'hard' for the role.

  • @jaldorian Lewis Collins NEVER attempted selection for any UKSF, he always suggested that he would like to but his status meant he couldnt. Because he claims he would have liked to doesnt mean he would have passed though, every professional soldier wants to be part of their countries elite wether its our own SAS or the yank Squeals, sorry seals. Anyway, that aside, he def is a top bloke and should have done more.

  • @jaldorian it wasn't THE s.a.s it was the territorial army section, totally different, he'd have never seen any action

  • Kids on both sides of the Atlantic may think they're lucky nowadays, with x-boxes, wii's etc - but they weren't as lucky as us who grew up watching this ...

  • good old ITV 4. I'm definitely middled aged now and the clothes remind me of the lads I went to school with - those checked bomber jackets with big collars, big sideburns and the smoking! everybody was at it, apart from our heroes:) And can anybody tell me, was it real (Martin Shaw's curly hair), or a touch of the Kevin Keegan's! Ace theme tune and excellent show too.

  • Comment removed

  • also did anybody ever see Mr Shaw in the tv series of The Scarlet Pimpernel, with Richard E Grant? Many years ago now. I was transfixed to the small screen :)

  • gotta be the best theme music ever :)

  • Latest rumours indicate that Jude Law is up for the role of Doyle in a big screen version for 2013.

  • the music and the cars do it for me......

  • For anyone iterested ITV4 is showing re-runs of The Professionals quite frequently in the evenings at the moment. I wasn't born when it was first shown but it's fantastic, brilliant writing & brilliant performancnes & a young Martin Shaw & Lewis Collins = so beautiful to look at!

  • @Sezzie86 Do you watch Minder, Sweeney and the rest? ITV4 is the best channel!

  • Also i think that Lewis Collins should have been chosen for James Bond. The Bodie character he plays is much more like the original Bond, which is portrayed in the books. I don't understand why so many people liked Sean Connery - he was crap at playing Bond. Roger Moore was much better and Bodie was more like a Roger Moore.

  • OK Chaps, 30-40 years on, Who did you identify with ? -Bodie or Doyle ?

Perhaps a poll is due ?

  • @guthywoodry when i used to watch it back in 1997 on re-runs, i used to like Bodie more because of the big front he puts on, but as i watched it more recently, i grew to appreciate Doyles character more. However i think i identify more with the real life Lewis Collins after watching an interview of him than Shaw. In real life interviews, i find Martin Shaw a bit ungrateful whenever he mentions the professionals. It's like he wishes it never happened and resents it.

  • @blammo7100 It might be because he doesn't want to be remembered for playing a 'hero' and as we all know, heroes are 1-dimensional. I can't blame an actor for slightly resenting something they've done. The Professionals might be the best thing ever, but for the actor it might not be. I don't think Shaw is being ungrateful. Would you just want to get credit for one role you've played, knowing other roles you have played may have had better acting? Maybe not.

  • Magic

  • this was a real Man show! LOVE IT

  • you can still watch this show on itv 4 @ 7am

  • Anytime I am driving in my car with my kids, and we have to go fast or change lanes, I always do the "dah dah dun, dah dah, dah da, da dah da da da dun "

    They love it.

  • My name is Mike from LA Although there busizz4me.info

  • What is Lewis Collins up to these days? We see plenty of Martin Shaw but the last time I saw Lewis he was playing the part of Doug Digby's (Brian Conley's) dad in The Grimley's .

I was a mere bot when this series aired and would have loved to have grown up looking like Lewis - sadly the 41 year old version of me is more of a resemblance to Harry Hill.

  • @originalpickaxe Remember "body has a very dark past"... You don't want to know...

  • @originalpickaxe Lewis Collins wasn't proud, he ended up playing Panto in Stockport during the 90s lol.

  • There are two intro's that I can think of that actually make you sit up and pay attention- this one which just fly's at you with no messing and the opening theme to The Sweeney.

  • @ therookpiece And Cowley. Lol. That guy could end one's arse. xD

  • I USED TO PLAY WITH MY FRIENDS AS A KID ... I WAS BODIE!

  • Can't decide between The Professionals or Hawaii Five-O as the greatest action/cop theme ever...what do others think??

  • Laurie Johnson. A god amongst brass sections.

  • We need C15 now.

  • That man has just lost his no claims bonus driving his Dagenham Dustbin through that window.

  • I always thought Lewis Collins would have made a great James Bond. At that period after The Professionals ended they went and picked Timothy Dalton who wasn`t exactly a great bond.

  • sexy music! but definitely sexy Bodie....

  • Love the way this theme basically says, "Don't mess me about, sunshine".

  • Mr. Hudson--Action Man!

  • There was no feeling like it when this theme kicked in....there was 5 minutes of the story being set up, then just at a dramatic bit...BOOM this intro started, Brilliant, there has never been anything to match it since!!

  • I have never seen this show but I'll throw my two cents in nonetheless; maybe one of the most kickass theme songs I've ever heard. You Brits are awesome.

  • @Thermalfiredotcom You need to watch some :), it was THE UK cop show of the 80s imo.

  • @Thermalfiredotcom It's Starsky and Hutch with English accents and a better theme tune.

    What's not to like?
