Wow, Donovan! I just happened upon your page here. You're a fantastic person with a very special gift handed down from the best in the business. The world needs what you've got. Don't doubt it for a minute.
Donavan had no problem with his father. His dad was just... taken under a crazy spell after the death of his wife Donna and after meeting Betty Hunter. It was and probably continues to be utterly perplexing to Donavan and his sister, and just really really awful. I grew up with Donavan and spent many a weekend at his house with his family. They were warm, loving, and yes indeed quite imaginative and strange! I miss that family, but am happy Donavan carries on. I love you Donavan.
I see a lot of anger in your eyes. I only hope you can resolve this breach with your dad before your he really passes on. There's nothing worse than that agonizing feeling once someone close to you dies--the missed opportunities, the unsolved disagreements.... You think you're angry now, it'll be much worse if things are left as-is, and nothing will be able to fully deaden the pain.
When his dad did the puppet thing, he'd turn his head away from the camera so people wouldn't see his lips move. This is a very personal sounding piece with a very raggedy puppet.
Not so much fake, but a bit misleading. Stan Freeberg (Donovan's father) is still very much alive. Why his son would suggest otherwise leaves one a bit perplexed.
Nice. Tough times. I lost my wife a year and a half ago to cancer. I spoke with your father today. He's over that cold. I'm a huge fun of him and his work. You, also seem have a sense of humor. Stay in the light.

Betty Hunter! I just wrote a poem about Betty Hunter. Its called "BETTY HUNTER".
Betty Hunter went hunting
She hunted until she met Wounded Stan and his leather wallet
Now Betty Hunter sits on leather and hunts no more

Long, slow moving, sad and weird. Is there an adult in the house?

From wikipedia, Donavan has become estranged from his father since Stan Freberg's marriage to his second wife, Betty Hunter, in 2002.
Keep up the great work, Donavan.

Really got me thinking and perked me up a bit by the end. Thanks, Donovan. I'm going to go hug my kids now and we're going to make some puppets.

I KNOW why I'm in tears about this one! There's something that "unlocks" when one creates an alter ego for oneself.
I don't know what else to say... Except that

Except that Stan and Donna have got to be proud.
