I've owned English Bullets and and Indian Bullets and as far as I'm concerned they're both great. We came up with a good a solid design, but only the Indians could have kept this icon going for so long. Whether they come from Redditch or Madras, they get my vote every time - and so do the blokes who build 'em! A degree of human (and machine) error can be expected no matter which company made your bike - and R.E. parts are as cheap as chips, so there's no room for complaint there...
Except the darnm thing keeps breaking down, my 500 threw its engine at 10.000kms, beyond repair. Then a new got installed that threw ist big end bearing at 3500kms not even broken in yet. I am not thrashing it, i am changing oils at the intervals..
Nope, aint gonna be RE no more, but perhaps the UCE is better...dunno know, dont care..
This bike made by british was awesome. it was the best bike we got in India. it has lost all its qualities since we Indians have started making it here. and its even worse now, we are trying to go hybrid with right feet break and compact gearbox. I love brit bikes. I love old bullets.
This is a beautiful vintage motorcycle with all the modern advantages, it's legal all over the United States, except California, where I live.Thats sad. I saw it at The Long Beach Motorcycle show, and soon they will get all the licenses and permits they need to begin selling it in the state.
somehow even thou its seems well made it feels more vintage than a classic bike if u knw what i mean....infact it felt more like a mod scooter than a bike to me...watchin the guy ride it.
u idiots ! this bike was designed by the british ! andsold sold to INDIA by the british ! If the bike sucks.............its the british grandpa technology that sucks[ u british bastards] INDIAN JUST GAVE A LIFE TO OLD GRANDPA TECNOLOGY OF BRITISH!
Maybe, but the India factory did cut corners to save money, thus ruining the fundamental design. The alloys used are shite, the bearings used are shite..sorry mate..
Yes the design changes did happen before Eicher took over, but they were kept untill the last iron barrel rolled off the line. Anyway, my bike is a post Eicher, and the first engine lasted 10.000kms, and a 2007 replacement unit lasted 3500..And i am not racing the bike..Mine is a 2000 500 export model, paintjob is lousy and to me the quality is simply bad.

looks good, feels vintage & classic, but what about the
fuel efficiency Km/liter?
Engine sound? i.e. any meshing sound or uninitiated weird sound from the engine
Cold start?
Max speed that U have tried?
ravikumarjp 2 years ago
According to official specs you get 3.8 l/100km with the carburator version or 3.5 l/100km with the electronic fuel inj. version.
The maximum speed of all Royal Enfield current models is about 129 km/h.
