That is both true and UN-true, Tahmer. I love the old 16-bit games, but you have to take in to account the great games that are coming out this year. Some of them seem genuinely good. I think the reason Alex keeps coming back to these games is because the classics helped shape the games of today and should never be forgotten. =)

I beat Final Fantasy VI for the first time yesterday! What a feeling.. I've been trying since I was like three, but my data kept erasing, or I just gave up. What an amazing game... Shit!

Yeah I never really care much for graphics. I grew up with NES and SNES even though I'm only 14. I hated PS1 for ever just becuase I never saw the big deal in it.

the invention of 3d games brought forth the ability to play in different aspects rather than a 2 dimensional plane.

3d games aren't entirely about graphics either.

good games have substance.

maybe on some day, play a ps1 and try out Jumping Flash, the graphics compared to todays "standard" are far from good, but it's a great game.

i was telling you that the big deal was the advancement of innovation in video games.

and the ps1 and nintendo 64 pioneered 3d graphics. so i was pointing out that there are games you should try out on the ps1 instead of hating it, thinking it was over rated.

yes i know what you mean. i let my friend borrow my favorite game of all time, dragon warrior 7, and he was like it makes my eyes hurt. im like turn down the color on your tv and use your imagination. thats what this generation lacks, imagination. they think everything has to be there for them clear as day in order to make sense

I know what you all are saying, I've got this bad ass laptop that can run Crysis/Oblivion/Supreme Commander (+Forged Allience), but I keep playing games from before the year 2000 (though games that involve BioWare usually have a great story line, think The Forgotten Realms)

Just graphics sucks, that's why I was really reluctant to even install Crysis, let alone play it. It's Far Cry all over again (though different, if you can atleast try it once)

Some of the best games have had less than stellar graphics. It's amazing to see how some of these old game's and music are still popular today even with new games and consoles. FF3/7, CT, SoM and other great SNES games still are enjoyable despite the new consoles that are out today =p

Agreed. FFVI will be, forever, the best FF. It can not be topped, unless FFXIII has free roam hack/slash style fighting >_> *Cough*PhantasyStarEmulation*C­ough*.

Storyline though I would give to Secret of Mana and not FFVI. Seiken Densetsu 2 had the best storyline of any game in history in my opinion, either that or the combined efforts of Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. TBH Star Ocean 3 also had a good story. My my my.. How torn I am.

Story is just slightly better in FF4.

Gameplay is also better because it's more challenging.

FF6 has a better spell selection, but it didn't bring as much new to the series as FF4 did in this area.

As for characters, it's a matter of taste. FF4 focused on fewer characters and detailed relationships between them, but the characters in ff6 were mostly more unique and realistic.

Length - Similar.

Music - Yes, FF6 has slightly better music.

Bosses - Flashier in FF6, but worse.

Hmm...I myself prefer FF4 because the way it was made and such. The characters, to me, were amazing and believeable. Like in FF6.But I really enjoyed how you never got a stable party or get to choose your party. That was nice..I really should beat FF6 again..
