Had this on 8 track in 1971. Played it in my car constantly. One of my favorite parts was the keyboard playing. What a surprise it was to me when I found out it was Aretha playing! Sooo good.
Once again......."buried treasure" that I've discovered on YOUTUBE has rendered me absolutely speechless! This precious video-clip epitomizes the very essence of Aretha Franklin: unmatched God-Given talent & charisma......and the ability to make an audience recognize, respect & appreciate those "gifts" with every performance! Long live the "Queen Of Soul".........I absolutely ADORE this magnificent woman!
that voice of hers is ALWAYS in the pocket and it never strays from the groove...it seems like an easy thing to do, but for those who know something about "real singing", it aint as easy as she makes it seem....she has one of the best ears, in the business and Im still knocked on my butt with her ability to hit a spontaneous note out of nowhere....she's just incredible, and we wont see her kind again.
@Rams4ever: Although Sarah Vaughan was way before my time i still recognize that she had one of the greatest voices ever introduced to the human family. The woman was simply a remarkable vocalist.
It seems Aretha always played her own piano in the old days and I sure miss seeing her play. This is a great tape of her at her best! Thanks for posting.
I was just listening to the audio of this song and wondered if she was playing piano on it so I ran a search here and found this. Wow. That IS her playing. Amazing. Thanks for posting this.
Inspiration aretha.
